Good idea about the tape measure! I really need to create and maintain a complete set of measurements--both of my body and of favorite-fitting things--so I can shop better on-line. Just recently, I asked-for (and received) garment measurements for a top and I've procrastinated about measuring one of my favorites to see how they compare--I should have had that comparative info all ready to go so I can place an order!

Firecracker - do you notice that it is usually the black that run smaller? I just checked tags and the black is 65% cotton, 33% polyester, 2% spandex, while the blue has 54% cotton, 27% rayon, 17% polyester, 2% spandex. BTW the website is incorrect, showing the same for both so can't trust it.

Thanks Angie! I know you would have opined if they weren't PPL so I will wear them with confidence.

I actually measured and found the calf width was greater on the blue pair by about 0.5 inches, so a good learning for me to bring a tape measure and check that when I'm in stores before I even bother trying things on. Unfortunately this is rarely listed on websites, but I can sometimes use the cuff width, although not always.

At least I have one keeper of the 6 pairs I had to order - none of the sizes/styles are carried in the Nordies that is 90 miles away. I never would have done that before YFL, and it still makes me pretty uncomfortable, but I guess it is part of the changing retail landscape.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The photos of 4 &5 were of the same pants (the bootcut so it looks much longer),so I fixed them. 4 is the black straight leg and 5 is the black bootcut.

I also struggle with PPL for straight legs. I did also try the regular length in the same size, and they hit around the same place as the petites, although were looser all over, and bunched up at the ankle. I like the length of pic 5, but that is the bootcut, so being 2" wider at the hem allows it to hang straight down. Maybe I need to wear different shoes?

I really like the way the blue pair fit you. I've found there is often a difference between the fits of black and blue jeans in the same style, and this is a good example! Since Kelly mentions it, I like the length of the black ones better. Did you turn under the hem on the blue ones for the photo?
I agree with you about the flares--I would pass on those, as they aren't cut right for your legs. I struggle with tight calf fits, too. It's good when you can find the ones that fit loosely enough on the calf, because they are so much more flattering and comfortable!

Agreeing that the boyfriend fit is great on you! I wonder if they could be a smidge longer though. I fully admit to struggle with this kind of pant when wearing booties--so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I prefer the first set. Isn't it frustrating that there's so much variation from pant to pant??!!

I just got a delivery of the Wit and Wisdom jeans in a variety of sizes and shapes. The pair I like the best is #1-3 - the indigo straight leg in a petite. It is a little boyfriendish, but I prefer the room in the knee/calf compared to #4 (the same size and style in black) and #5 (the same size bootcut). I wish these were carried more in the B&M Nordstrom's as there is a great deal of variation between the same size.

Are the blue ones too sloppy? Are they the right length?

I had an epiphany with these photos - a close fitting calf makes my knock-knee alignment issues too noticeable for my comfort. (I tried the skinnies in this brand and don't even need to ask if I should return.) So I need to look for pants with the knee break pretty high and a generous bootcut or maybe even a flare, and perhaps tailor the flare a bit.

I also got new suede embroidered Lucky boots in #1-4 I'm keeping these but would love advice on what tops /bottoms to wear with them. They are a warmer tone than my cool wardrobe (the WIW pic is a more true representation of color than the Find). Fit note: they are pretty comfortable on my wider foot, and seem like they will stretch a bit more. These are a 7M, - I tried them on in a 6.5W and 7W and the instep was far too roomy on both.

ETA - I just fixed the pictures - 4&5 were of the same mini-boot, now show the black straight and boot.
