I think they are great under short dresses and skirts but I think the operative word is SHORT. The dress you posted doesn't look like it can accomodate the leggings because of the length of the dress. That, to me, is what throws it off. I use leggings as a way to balance out a dress/skirt that is a little too short for me and/or for a long shirt. The dress is just too long for them. </p> <p>Regarding your NYDJ's. I just, for the very first time, tried these on yesterday at Macy's. I love all the colored denim but, except for a pair of Gap skinnies, I can't find anythign that fits me right and I do love a higher waist. I saw them and thought I would just try them on and I lOVE them. OMG, I can wear them on my high waist and they fit perfectly BUT I had to wear a whole size down. The stretch is amazing but they do need to be fitted. I got the skinny ankle pair in turquoise and I can't wait to wear them. Try a size down! I have to say though that I had a pair of white cropped leggings and I just got rid of them after never, ever wearing them for 2 years. I would always grab the black ones instead. Something about the white was always just too bright and it always felt like I was wearing long underwear that was showing.
