I love it & I vote keep, although I do prefer it undone. That isn't an issue as I'm sure you will wear it undone mostly anyway. It is exactly what I have been looking for. The long length is in now. Just see Emmanuel Alt. I posted a K/R today of a similar jacket that cost a lot more. Maybe I should have had patience & gone thrifting.

First of all - thank you SO MUCH for sharing your thoughts and advice. They are invaluable to me. I learn a lot every time I post, for instance have I never thought that a white blazer could resemble a lab coat! Hereabouts, lab coats are wide, long, unlined and resembles nothing but what they are. So to me, a slight lab coat association would only be important when I post pics to show you, my American friends. I'll keep that in mind. I had never heard of Good Humor outfits, either, but now I know. Thanks, Unfrumped and Ceit :)

I actually wore the blazer to work today, with a breton and black cropped pants. The blazer might not be a 10, but to me, it is a good starting point for experimenting with this look. My four family members are all very positive, too, aka the fashion police (aged 45, 19, 16 and 14). As far as I'm concerned, this thrifted jacket is in line with the playful part of my style descriptor, if nothing else. I strongly believe in, and enjoy playing with fashion. It's not my goal to be trendy at all times, nor fashion forward, but I'd like to remain current. What I don't enjoy, is too many rules, so I try not to mind them too much if I notice any. My challenge with this jacket is to make it mine, and to see if I can mould it into my wardrobe to my content. If I find a better looking blazer along the way (which I agree is very probable), it will be very simple to return this one to the Salvation Army. For now, I'm quite happy with the result. Thanks again!

I'm torn on it, Ingunn. I do think you should keep it as a road-test item (since I'm assuming it was not expensive.) Also, In Wear is a really great brand. And it looks okay open...although I am also with Diana in that there is something in the stance that does not seem quite right for your body. It could be the way you are standing (hand on hip, etc.) that makes for the pulling (but then, we do stand that way IRL!) or it could be the button placement/ stance is just not quite ideal for you. But something is a tiny bit off. Also, this works with pants but won't work with a dress, I don't think. I could be wrong about that...it might work, open, with a sheath.

Still, having said all of that, I think it is worth keeping and playing around with!

Looks more "lab coat" to me - but I do have an evil stink eye for white blazers. It looks like a clinical coat worn by the clerks (senior medical students).

PS - no worries about the lab coat look! For one thing, this one is not shaped like a box and does not have giant rectangular patch pockets. =P

Actually I work in a lab and I don't have a lab coat. Nobody in our lab wears them so it wasn't worth the hassle/cost of the cleaning service (you're not allowed to clean them yourselves). We just have disposable ones for when we really need a coverup.
This doesn't read lab coat to me, more of the boyfriend style of jacket. Not sure if that fits into your wardrobe plans. From what I have seen of your style, I think one with a more ladylike or tailored silhoutte would work with more of your wardrobe.

Something like this came up in the past. As I remember, Angie said to avoid the lab coat vibe by finding a version with dark buttons. If it feels too much like a lab coat, you could change the buttons.

I like it. But more open than with the buttons done up. I dont think it looks lab coat at all. I had one a few years ago that I had to get rid of becasue it was very lab coat. After I had thrown it out I realised the main problem was the cheap buttons. If I had replaced them with a nicer button I think it would have been ok. So if you think yours is teetering on lab coat I would look at fancier buttons.

Longer length jackets were in style a few years ago, and I think that length is back in style now with the boyfriend fit. I recently purchased a brand new jacket in that length with the BF fit and I really like it. I like yours too! I vote keep. I like what was said above, at the very least it's an inexpensive way to determine if you like the color and the BF fit.

I like it, Ingunn. It's a bit longer than I am used to seeing you wear, but I think you will ultimately make it a star in your wardrobe. It sounds like you thrifted it, so it must not have been expensive - is it okay to keep it and play with options to see if it's something you'd really like to have? Then you can focus on buying one that's a "10."

Hmm. It fits you pretty well. I would have flashbacks to junior medical student. But then YMMV ( your milieu may vary). I like straighter sharper lines to keep from overlapping with the short lab coat look, but you do wear this style well. Perhaps it would look more intentional to me when styled with a bit more summery tones--though not the Good Humor man outfit. Not meaning to be a drip. I think you can make it work.
