Yes I agree...I also struggle to get the right oversized fit...but then again I struggle to get the right body con or tailored fit too...

I find oversized easier in knits as they are more draped, if that is any help.

What Mona said. This looks like a tailored shirt that is too big. The cut and fabrication need to be different for it to work. And it CAN work beautifully on any body size/ type. Just needs to be the right garment. It's not you -- it's the shirt.

OK, back it goes. I wasn't in love with it anyway. Thanks all.

Mona & AK, I suspect you're right about the shoulders and sleeves. Maybe it's because I have narrow shoulders / am a pear shape, but I have literally never found a shirt that fits in the shoulders and arms but is loose through the midsection, in my entire adult life. I suspect that if I really wanted one I'd have to have one custom made or sew it myself.

This looks too big because of the sleeves. I think there is a frustrating difference between a deliberately oversized/fluid item in the right size and sizing up but sometimes it works. I can't tell if this is designed to be oversized but it just looks too big...

The sleeves are definitely too big on this. I would return. The shoulder and sleeves should be well fitted for these kind of shirts to work. Here is Angie's post on this topic. http://youlookfab.com/2013/07/10/the-fluid-fit/
also, fluid fitted tops should drape well so the extra cloth falls back onto body. that is why fluid fits do not make the wearer look too big.

As a larger person I usually opt for a fitted but not clingy fit, for maximum figure flattery. But I know fits are going a bit looser at the moment.

This is a shirt that just came from Twice, originally Caslon. I would normally return it for being too big - but am I being too hasty? Yay = looks good Nay = too big
