I'd also like to see the blouse with different skirts and pants. I'm not 100% sold on the blouse OR the skirts, but I like the blouse so much that I'd like to see you give it a chance with some other items. I think a shorter pencil-style skirt might work better, and further - I'd like to see the blouse with dark blue skinny jeans or black skinny pants (such as Gap's Always Skinny pants).

I think the blouse *might* work beautifully with: pencil skirt, skinny pants/jeans, tapered/skinny bermuda shorts. It's not time to give up on it ...not yet!

Natalie, you look beautiful in black and green, but the pieces themselves overwhelm your frame. They drown your lovely figure in too much fabric, instead of flattering it. For that reason, I suggest returning them all, and looking for those colors in garments better suited to your figure.

Do you like either of these pieces enough to try some outfit pics using them separately? The blouse might look cuter the way you styled your other recent waist-surrender tops - with your bermuda short/clams or an above the knee pencil skirt.

The skirts I can't tell if they are looking baggy or what... would like to see them with some alternate tops, but as is, I'm not feeling a bunch of love.

Natalie--was in a bit of a hurry this a.m., so didn't offer any alternatives to the skirt, even though i had some in mind. The reason i asked about the composition of the material is because in my experience that is key to a successful knit pencil skirt. If the fabric isn't weighty enough, all the little imperfections are on full display! I agree with the sentiment that in sizing up to accomodate (your crab apple sized!) belly, the skirt doesn't provide enough hug to your curves. One solution would be spanx; some people luv'em, others not so much. I do find they create their own set of problems under a solid colored skirt.

I've found great success with the karen kane and red dot skirts i've linked here. Both are similar in design and construction in that they are two layers thick; think of a long piece of fabric doubled up so instead of a bottom hem, that is where the crease of the fold is located. The red dot skirt is hefty in weight and provides compression of it's own. The karen kane is a bit thinner in fabric, but with spanx underneath (the pattern of the skirt prevents any lines from the spanx showing) it is an incredibly comfortable skirt! The karen kane comes in a couple of black and white prints that i think are attractive as well, and i think the length and scale could be good for your petite frame!

It's a nice outfit (I'm partial to the blouse w black skirtcombo) but it doesn't do anything for you. If you're going to invest in an outfit - it's got to show you some love back. The blouse may have potential - styled differently with other fab items in your wardrobe. I can see why you are drawn to the skirts - they look so comfortable, but they don't show your curves or your lovely legs.

Huh. I'm not really feeling any of these--they all look a bit off somehow. I agree that the smaller size tube skirts were too snug, but these seem too roomy, and the blouse is just not for you, I don't think.

I find the skirts a bit long also, and the green skirt just doesn't seem to work as well. If the skirts are comfortable, you might try shortening them. Or at least the black one... ;o)

Hmm, I'm not 100% sold on any of them, but I'm certainly happy to be wrong.

My .02 is that that blouse is just too voluminous for you (but maybe better with skinny bottoms?).
The skirts look very comfy, but by sizing up they've also sized out the curviness (but maybe with a different top they'd be all different too?)

Sorry, I'm not very articulate before coffee

Seems like these pieces together overwhelm your delicate frame. Agreed the blouse (which I love on you color-wise) would look better with a shorter skirt. Could we see the blouse paired differently? As for the skirts, i'm curious about the brand and the composition; are they substantial in weight/thickness or a thinner fabric?

I love all the 3 pieces, but as the blouse is a bit boxy I would pair it with a knee length pencil, or just change for a low vamps shoes, here.

I am not sure but I think this blouse might need a knee length skirt to create the right balance of proportions here. I like the top and I like the skirt but like Lyn D I am not sure the two pieces together are working.

After seeing Kari and then Aida rocking the Vince Camuto emerald blouse that was an Angie pick, I thought I would post my pics for your consideration. I sized down to a XS on the blouse. I'm a little unsure how this looks on me since I've typically been used to fitted waists, and waist surrender is a relatively new silhouette for me. But I like the color and pattern. The green and black midi tube skirts are stretchy and very comfy, but I had to size up to a M to keep it from clinging to my apple belly too tightly. I do like having a stretchier option for days when my pencil skirts feel too constricting though.

What do you think--keep or return on the blouse and two skirts?
