I think you look better in the MK dress than the model! I do agree with Isis though on the crossbody bag. . . wearing the bag that way interferes too much with the dress.

And I can see why you love and bought the DVF dress. I think you should try it with the black cami and post pics that way. And if that doesn't work, it's really not hard to sell on eBay.

Save your eBay buying for brands and styles you've known and loved, or things where fit doesn't matter as much!

Natalie, I really like the MK dress, its quite stunning.

The DVF dress is lovely too but it just looks to big in the bust area. I see you can't return it. Can you have the top half altered to fit better?

Thanks everyone! I went back and looked at Rae's pics and I can tell that this size M is too big for me on top. I think a size S would have been perfect for me--unfortunately there is none left in that size. I ordered the last XS from 6pm just in case it might look better than the M (it's fairly stretchy), but I'm not going to pin my hopes on it. I also found a somewhat similarly colored Michael Kors dress and ordered a size S from Nordstrom. I think this pattern may even be more my style than the Rae dress. It reminds me of a Pucci scarf I bought at Loehman's (when I went with MaryK). Hopefully one of these will work!

As for the DVF dress, I totally agree that the bust part is screwed up--the extra drapes/pleats make my chest look too small to fill out the dress. I actually think this is the right size for me--I wouldn't be able to fit in a smaller size--but somehow it's just not 100% perfect. So annoying because I bought it on eBay and I don't think I can return it. I may have to figure out how to sell on eBay to try to recoup some money if I decide not to keep it. Lessons learned for me: 1) DO NOT buy clothes on eBay (this is the third dress I've ordered and it never seems to work out right and then I can't return it) 2) I guess DVF is not the right brand for me (this is the third DVF dress I've tried and none of them have worked out).

The color and print of the DVF are stunning on you, and I prefer it if you can resolve the bodice fit issue and add a cami. I like the way you have styled the first dress with the yellow bag, but overall it does not wow me like the second.

Yay, I like the MK, too! And not just because I have it. ;)

I am in love with the DVF print, but the fit of the top half makes it look like you aren't filling out the bust. IDK if you want to bother seeing about having it altered... ? I also think this one is too dressy for MOTG, if that is important to you, but it could be dressed up for a more fancy event.

The DVF is a steal at that price & depending on the EBAY seller's return policy may be difficult to return. I think it is is gorgeous on you & may be a bit too low cut on its own. I think a black cami would take away from the dress so maybe a few stitches to close it up a bit? I can't really tell from your pics if you are "filling out the bust area" or is it supposed to have that much fabric but a classic black blazer with the sleeves scrunched would be striking.

The first dress looks amazing.

I really like the MK one on you - I don't think it looks too large at all. I think any smaller would be too snug in the midsection/backside and not flattering. I find the top portion of the DVF just too much fabric for petite you.

I like the MK dress quite a lot! It doesn't look too big to me.....(I wouldn't wear the bag crossbody though, as the strap is fighting with the draping).

I actually don't like the way the DVF drapes. The upper part also exposes a lot too. So a return from my side.
The MK drapes so nicely on you making your figure speak out. Your waisline looks lovely and the drape also falls in place. The upper part is also not too exposing. So a keep from my side.

I'm not sold on the DVF dress for you. All that fabric on top, which seems to be the way it is designed, might be best worn by a taller, larger woman rather than tiny you.
It's not bad; it just doesn't seem great.

I hate to say this because I love the DVF print and little ruffle in front but the top of the dress is too loose. Plus since the torso is a little tight, tailoring the top may not be worthwhile.

The other does have a pretty print. And it's machine washable! I have had good luck with quality on MK things.

I believe the DVF fits too big in the bust, plus I think all of that fabric in the front is not doing your figure justice, As far as the MK, I would have to see it with better undergarments to decide. You can always contact the seller to see if they can make an exception to the no returns policy. I have a instance where the seller took the item back, minus a small restocking fee.

The MK is too big, IMO, because the gathering should hit slightly higher on the torso in order to accentuate the waist. I think the DVF is more flattering both in cut and colour. It really highlights your hair and face and makes you look brighter.

The MK one is too dressy for MOTG IMO due to the draping (although I can be wrong if paired with a denim jacket maybe?)
I prefer the colors on the DVF but there seems a lot of fabric on top and none of it covering what I'd like to cover. With a cami and maybe some bra padding or boosting it could work though since the skirt part is nice. I'm also a little unsure of the pattern placement on the rear view but the beetle is kind of cool.

Up for consideration are two turquoise dresses. They're actually somewhat similar in color, watery print and draped waists. So I don't know if you think they are too similar to keep both (and whether you like one over the other, both or neither).

The first one (1-7) is a Michael by Michael Kors agate print dress for $71
http://www.6pm.com/product/7940464/color/194456
that I fell for when I saw Rae in it, and she rocked it for the nature challenge. I bought it from 6pm but size S was not available (I normally wear size 4-6 dresses) so I had to get a M. Is this too big on me? I like it but my only hesitation is if the top part is too loose on me or looks OK. Is this more of a work or MOTG dress, or can it work for both? I thought it would look good with my new yellow Fossil satchel. It has a watery swirly print like the Florentine papers. And the material is soft and stretchy like a T shirt, and it seems like it would be a good wrinkle-resistant travel dress. (ETA: it's polyester with spandex, and is machine washable).

The second one (8-15) is a Diane von Furstenberg beetle print dress that I bought off eBay for $140 after the wrap dress fiasco (that one got returned). This one is a size 4. It's ever so slightly tight around my torso to zip up, but the neck is kind of low cut and the bust draping makes it look a tad big on the top, so I think a 6 might be too big. I think I would probably have to wear this with a black cami underneath for work. This one is a faux wrap, so less worries about inadvertent flashing at work. Also it has a cool beetle print (you can see it on the back best in 14-15). The draping is a little funny looking (10-12) but I think that's supposed to be that way. It feels a little dressier in material (100% silk) and styling than the MMK, so this would mainly be a work and possibly date dress.

So what do you think? Thumbs up or down on these two dresses? (although the eBay one is not returnable).
