Both look fab. Advise try the upsized boot so you can see if you get the "know it when you feel it" fit. That's what I hate about on-line footwear as I don't want to order multiple sizes all the time but sometimes have that nagging what if feeling. And you definitely need to be trying them on with whatever tights or sock you will wear. But the style looks great.

I would have switched buttons out too to keep that stunning and so-flattering coat in my closet. And you say it's practical too?

As for the boots, I would want to be *very* sure of fitting socks in as well as having room for feet to stretch and swell. This thread has been educational for me as I was hoping to get a pair of Blondos---they were on my 12 for 12 list but I don't like this year's detailing *quite* as much as last year's so decided to wait and see how they appear next year.

The coat is stunning and the boots are beautiful on you.

I am currently sorting out if either of the 2 Blondos I have at home will work for me. The footbed was a little cramped with my cushioned insole in my usual size, but with a half size up, that is much better. The problem is the shaft in the bigger size is much looser in the ankle and around the top. The smaller size had a bit more material than needed around the ankle, the larger one may just be too voluminous for me. I have a hard time with boots and I hate to give up on these.

You look fab!

Both the boots and coat look wonderful on you and will get lots of wear in a Midwest winter, although it's almost impossible to imagine in August, even when you're used to it. You will definitely want to be able to wear socks with your boots.

These are both BRILLIANT on you! I bought the Blondo's at NAS last year and absolutely love them. I did size up half a size (I'm normally a 6.5 and bought them in size 7). I wear mine with skirts and dresses all the time and think they look great.

Thanks, everyone! I'm very happy with these and will keep the coat and size up in the boots. That takes care of the two top items on my Fall list!

Angie, killer spectacular? That made my day!

JulieJohn, I'd use what's on the loom on top of my piano, but I suspect the recipients will use them as scarves or decorative runners. It's a really fun pattern and will be sublty 3-dimensional when it comes off the loom. Which it should have months ago! Got to get weaving.

Keep both! Another boot solution is the buy wool socks that are more on the thin side (smartwool-type). Then your toes will stay warm and you will have a little more room.

Beth Ann, I think I'll try to make peace with the gold and then go with pewter if I just can't do it. I know Angie's recently gone over to gold, and it looks lovely on her. Yellow and gold make me look jaundiced, so I've stayed away.

I didn't keep the Blondos, because they were too tight at the top, but I found I sized up to make sure I had wiggle and sock room. My feet are a tad wide, however. I would have easily worn them with dresses and skirts. I know Shannon wore hers that way. You might look over her outfits with the blondos from last season.

I like the jacket on you very much, and you're right, when moving to the Upper Midwest, a puffer is absolutely wonderful. I love the combination of warmth with it's lightness. So many serious coats are so heavy to wear and toss around. The buttons would be easily changed, but I will say that gold is making a comeback. You're younger than I am, so you probably don't remember well the last time that gold trumped silver in accessories. I'm ready to see it come back, but I do know that some people have a real, time-tested preference for one over another. I'd suggest a brushed or "pewter" like tone, rather than shiny silver.

Rachy, you're probably right to not count on anything to stretch. Except jeans. Those can require hopping and contortions to cram on in the fitting room, look like they're painted on, and then fall off into a puddle around my ankles after a few wearings. Thank goodness for belts.

These items are my first NAS purchases (plus one to come in another post). Sorry the details are hard to see. I haven't found a good picture taking spot except for the front stoop, and I can't see myself posing in front of "God and everybody" in a puffer and boots in August. Bad hair, too!

1, 3. Blondo boots. I definitely need some versatile, waterproof boots. I'm not sure how I feel about the texturized shaft on the Blondos - are these ok with skirts? It may just be my ingrown big toe nail talking (and then I dropped a full dresser drawer on it!), but I think I may need to size up a half size. Did anyone else need to do that? I always wear 7 or 7.5, and these are 7.5. Would these stretch at all? I'm worried about fitting winter socks in there.

2, 3. Metro Down & Wool Blend Coat. Another need is a winter coat. I love wool but hear I'll need a puffer - hopefully this is a good compromise. Husband thinks this might be a smidge big, but I need room for a sweater. I love military styling but am always put off a bit by the bright gold-tone buttons. Could I get away with silver or steely grey buttons on this? This seems like a great coat, especially at the sale price. It has hidden stretchy cuffs to keep out the cold and wet.

I'd love any comments, criticism, and suggestions. I intend to wear these pieces about a bazillion times each (and often together) this winter, so tell me now if I'm making a mistake!
