I really like them...especially the black which seem to fit better in the pictures I viewed. I loved them with the jeans.

I think the boots look great with your jeans in the last picture. But I do believe that chelsea boots, specifically, have elastic because they are "supposed" to fit close to the ankle. Other booties/shooties can be loose on the ankle and pair well with skirts, but I don't think loose-ankle chelseas are right for bare legs. I'd go for them and wear them with jeans or pants.

Added pic with straight leg jeans over the top. I don't like to always wear my jeans rolled. I never feel fab with rolled jeans these days. My skinnier legged styles don't work at all unless rolled to finish above the top of the bootie. Maybe I need to hem my jeans into ankle jeans. I usually buy full length for versatility, thinking I can roll if needed but wear long in cold weather.

The other problem with them is I can't get jeans over the top of them. A slimmer fit would enable them to go under jeans. I will try to post pics with jeans later.

I'm sensitive to the flower pot effect and I think these look fine. The casual style and the way the boot slopes help make it less important and less notable. If these are comfortable, I say yay.

Always trying I was thinking those photos connected to a site but you meant for me to see the actual pics you posted. You're right, they have been drawn with a gap and it doesn't look bad.

I think they look fine from the size. Yes, there is some room but it is not excessive by any means.
The gap looks bigger when you look down at it but this is not an angle the boots are being seen. I think they look fine from the side.

Always trying. Thanks I will check out the photos on the sites you posted. I think the reason many people tolerate or wear them with the gaping, even if they don't have the name for it we use here, is that models tend to have large feet, due to their height, & skinny ankles, so it seems like they are supposed to be like that when we see them wearing them that way in photos. They are not, they are made to accommodate as many different size people as possible, unless you buy more expensive or custom made booties. There are booties that are supposed to gape, such as moto boots & slouchy booties but elastic sided, zipped & laced booties are not. That is why they have the elastic, zips or laces, so you can get them on.

This board is the only place I have ever heard this flower pot effect --I have searched many sites about styling ankle boots, and have never seen these type boots hugging ankles. There is always a bit of space!!! It all abut style of the boots, proportion of boots to what you are wearing them with, how much leg showing, and things like that. See photosfrom one of these sites

No flower pot effect to my eye. I think they look great on you.

To get a more fitted effect, you need more elastic on the bootie. I have a pair that are completely elastic from ankle bone to ankle bone, along the back. I have also seen ones that are all elastic up top, from Acne last year.

Are they leather? Will they stretch more after awhile with the on/offs? Will you be wearing them with socks or leggings? Or under pants? If not, I would say that I definitely see extra space from the side angle but it doesn't look bad from here. I do not think they make your feet look huge.

I have trouble finding booties that don't gape at my ankles. I have size 8 wide feet but very skinny ankles & calves. I also have trouble finding comfortable footwear in general. These seem like they will be comfortable and only cost $43 on sale. From the front & back there is no gaping but from the sides it seems like a lot for an elastic sided chelsea boot. I mean that is the point of the elastic to stretch for wider ankles and for putting them on. Once on they are supposed to fit closely to the ankle. I must say though, with my size 8 feet if a flat or low heeled boot does fit close to the ankle my foot looks huge, so it seems to be a choice of huge feet or gaping ankles in a low or flat bootie for me. For this reason I prefer a bit of a higher heel but have a need for a low one for more walking.

Please let me know what you think & vote too if you can. Thanks.

Yay is keep & Nay is return.
