What a find with #1! I love the union label. Sad that we don't see them any more. I remember they used to be on everything.

Pass on the Old Navy jacket.

#1 is outstanding! #2 looks a little ill-fitting in the sleeves, and I'm not a fan of the pockets.

I actually really like the second one unbuttoned if it could be fixed of wrinkles, etc. However, the first one looks great too!

Really love the first one on you. I can see it going with what you suggested as well as a more dressed up version.

Here's one of the "Look for the Union Label" commercials for those of you who have no idea what we're talking about. I'm glad JulieJohn remembered, too!

Now you've got me singing, "Look for the Union Label, when you are buying a coat, dress, or blouse ..." Thanks for that!

I like #2 if the wrinkles could be steamed out or something similar. Velvet is lovely.

Hi there, Ann!
Hmmm... I really like the colour of #2, and truth be told I was expecting to like it a lot more overall from the thumbnails, but #1 just knocked it out of the park! What a lovely jacket! Love the shoulders, love the fitted sleeves, love the cut of the hem and the collar. It is somehow sharper and more flow-y all at once. Fantastic look with jeans & a tee. Definitely a keeper!

Wrinkles? Obviously somebody wore it too tight, too long. That makes it even less of a keeper then.

JR, thanks. That visible strain is actually wrinkles -- I had to go back and check, but buttoned it actually felt a little bit too big, but it's going back regardless. I do *not* want to look chunky!

I definitely prefer #1. It has a nice elongating line. #2 makes you look chunky unbuttoned, and there is visible strain at the buttons when it's done up.

So I vote keep #1, return #2.

Found these two velvet jackets at the thrift store yesterday. I've always loved velvet, but always thought of it in relation to Christmas. However, these would likely be worn with jeans and a tee in casual outfits (unless you have other styling ideas).

The first is deep blue, shawl collar, no buttons (intentionally). It's 100% cotton, made in the US, and has the union label (am I dating myself?) .

The 2nd is more of a dark teal-blue, lighter in shade than jacket #1. Old Navy brand, polyester, pockets function but sleeve buttons are false.

I can return or keep one or both. I think I favor #1 from a quality standpoint, but there doesn't have to be a choice if both suit.

Thoughts? Thanks!
