Shannon, I know you said the pineapple skirt and the shoes are going back (so sorry that the shoes hurt your feet - mine swell a lot in the evenings too) but I love the rest of your score. The denim top and the black skirt in particular look like high quality buys that fit you well. They don't look like something that would have been orphaned on a thrift rack. I hope that they will prove to be good additions to your wardrobe.

These are some great finds Shannon, and it almost looks like you were thrifting in a capsule! I could see the sleeveless tops both going with the printed skirt and sandals. I prefer the blue top for you, but the other one is fine for your purposes. The color could be brightened up with a denim jacket if you needed to run to the store for something. I'm partial to skirts made with curtain fabric myself (must be related to Scarlet O'Hara) so I can totally feel your love for the printed skirt. It's a very close cousin to the Shabby Apple skirt, similar in color scheme, too.

I think the black formal skirt was the hit of the day though! What a perfect fit and flattering cut! No need to call in Wonder Woman on that one. That wide waist band is marvelous on you and the length is perfect (good thing, because it would be a crime to cut any of that lovely embellishment off). Good thrifting haul!

I love the blue top, see the use for the plaid one. Not a particular fan of the patterned skirt. If the shoes are comfy then no questions asked.
I absolutely LOVE the skirt. Fab find (must try some of your visualization tricks to make a deal like that happen for me) I love Sveta's outfit idea.

GORGEOUS, that black skirt!

And I love he blue top on you. Great colour! But like Christie, hesitant on the second one --- think it's washing you out a bit?

Personally, love both skirts. Like Suz, I like the linen print combined with modern denim jacket etc --- looks more ironic/consciously whimsical retro than country kitchen to me. But then I'd absolutely make clothes of my favourite curtain fabrics! Have done for years with dad's collusion --- mostly received compliments on those items too!

I can see all of these fitting in with your style, Shannon. The dressy skirt is the clear standout. If you style the print skirt right, you should be able to avoid the apron look!

Wow, Shannon, as usual you score big-time at the thrift store! That black skirt is so fantastic. And how amazing that it would drop in your lap so soon after Angie's blog post on the subject! I think a full, fancy skirt like this is a godsend in any wardrobe. It can work throughout the year more easily than a dress because you can top it in a variety of ways. Fantastic.

And wow, I am impressed with Christie's powers of recall and thoughtfulness; the sandals are just PERFECT for your purpose!!

I think I am looking for a version of sandals like this except with a sort of wedge instead of a heel; that's why I'm inclined to return the ones I posted the other day. Hmmm. Time to think.

I absolutely understand your need for very casual summer tops. I prefer top 1 but the second one is usable, too. I also know how slim the pickings are; compared to most of what's available, you did brilliantly!

I actually really like the print skirt for your style, especially with a denim (or other casual) jacket. It's fun and ironic.

Wow! Great haul! The blue top is a wonderful colorful on you. It looks like the middle is elastic? I would normally not like that but the color is ideal and it actually looks great in the pictures. I like the green top! I like the vintage skirt! The sandals look great if you can walk in them - I couldn't. But the black skirt - that is the superstar. Keep - obviously!

I think the tops and shorts are perfect for our hot weather. I quite like the print on the first skirt but must admit that I purchased decorator fabric in the same colors for my kitchen curtains. I don't mean this as a negative in any way because I think the colors are gorgeous (I am quite picky about my home decor and prints). I think the red jacket overpowers it but the white denim works.

The detail on the skirt is gorgeous. I think you need to hunt down a knit wrap top for with it. I was thinking of this tadashi dress when I suggested the knit top.

Christieanne you are one smart cookie with a great memory! That's exactly what I was picturing when I saw these sandals. I was looking for something a bit more delicate than my oxford sandals (which I had paired the dress with for my post about it) but didn't want the typical strappy metallic sandal. I find those type to be fairly uncomfortable. But these are perfect - they fit, they're comfy, they're nude and have a little gold buckle detail for some bling. I'm actually taking the orange dress to Wonder Woman next week to see if she can work her magic with the bust area that's giving me problems.Keep your fingers crossed for me!

And I know top #2 is bordering on "gear" like but it's a good basic piece for outside in the yard hot summer days.

The only thing I am not loving is top #2 but I seem to be in minority on that one. I think the linen skirt is a kicky garden bbq item. Probably not for work but it's a fun retro print. Just don't go all Carmen Miranda on us lol!

Black skirt is too die for! Amazing. And I like the sandals - could they go with the Euro dress that you were thinking about for Kristen's wedding? Are you still leaning towards that one?

The black skirt is simply adorable. What a find! I also love the sandals, they are a fantastic colour, the design is great and the heels superb. I have reservations though about the flowery skirt. It's a beautifully tailored skirt in vibrant colours but - and maybe it's just me - I would hesitate to wear a flower pot just over my own garden.

The shorts style are the ones I have a poison eye for so I will not comment on those, but I like the two tops and the printed skirt a lot and think they will be perfect for the summer casual capsule. Great nude heels too... always a useful thing to have around.

I think that skirt #1 is a little bit far to the "country kitchen" end of the spectrum for your style. However, I LOVE everything else! Great tops and you look so good in a full skirt like that. Jealous - I went to the swap meet today and came back with a ball cap.

I'm working on building a summer casual capsule for hanging out on the patio with friends, going for walks with hubby, etc. I don't usually spend a lot of money on things like shorts, clams, tees because our summers are short. Plus it's usually very hot and I'm particularly hard on my casual summer clothes what with camping, hiking, etc. The first few looks are just a couple of woven sleeveless tops with a pair of beige shorts/clams - these were all thrifted today. Unless you tell me I look hideous, these are most likely keeps. But please point anything out that isn't good.

The patterned skirt, although not a need, really spoke to me. I'm having a love affair lately with vintage and vintage-inspired patterns (like the Shabby Apple skirt pattern). This skirt has quite a vintage-inspired pattern, is a linen blend, fully lined, Saks Fifth Avenue skirt. The fit is perfect and with the ruffle detail on the front, it kind of has a hi-lo feel to it. I think it plays nicely with a number of my jackets plus looks fine with just a tee.

I needed a pair of dressier nude sandals (something a bit more delicate) but didn't want to go the strappy sandal route - I find them very uncomfortable. I found these in the thrift shop, brand is Fiona and they are a lovely soft leather. Fit is good but best of all, extremely comfortable. Not a scratch on them and I like the wooden heel.

As I was getting ready to go to the cashier I glanced across at the "formal wear" rack and spied this black skirt. I have one dressy dress (the one I bought last year for the Christmas function) but would like to build a small dressy capsule, especially after reading Angie's blog post the other day about formal wear. This skirt is a Peter Nygard silk and taffeta full skirt with quite a bit of beading, embroidery and embellishment. It's fairly high waisted, fully lined, has these criss-cross ribbons on the top portion of the skirt and then a couple of tiers with beading and embroidery. I know black doesn't photograph well but I've done my best and then included a couple of close ups to try and show the beautiful details in the skirt. I'm picturing this with either a very dressy tank for warmer weather, but also with a slim fitting turtleneck or fabulous white blouse for this year's Christmas ball. It is not cheap by thrifting standards ($40) but I know this skirt and new it was $198.

Would love you honest feedback - are these items keep or returns? Thanks for your help!
