I like it but the back flap hanging out of the tucked pants is sort of avant garde and needs edgier slacks to work, like a slouchy track pant. But I really like the front. Can you tuck in the back flap?

I like it, but if you're wavering, it should go back. After all, you will never like a piece of clothing more than the honeymoon period after you just bought it!

Have not read others' comments yet.

To me, after fit of course, color comes off as the number 2 dealbreaker. That doesn't mean we can't go outside our comfort zone and try new colors. That would influence me in telling you to pass this by or not. I'm just feeling hesitant because you don't sound comfortable with this color right off the bat. Personally I think it's fine and looks crisp and nice.

I don;t think it is perfect. It is close, but is more of an 8 than a 10 because of all the issues you mentioned. Most importantly, you aren't in love and can;t wait to wear it.

Perhaps sale goggles are influencing you to be okay with it, but only you know if okay is fine for now or if you want perfect

YLF'ers are probably right. So thank you for giving honest feedback.

It seems close, ya know ? But it's true that all the boxes are not ticked, and I've got some of that little voice thing going on that says, you'll know the real deal when you see it.

I have some items on order that I picked out both as look like things I would love, or that I may only know if I try and aren't available in stores here or I usually don't have the gumption to try. Fabness would be much better than okay-ness.

I bought one of these in a bright coral (and returned it -- too big) and loved the feel of the silk

I think it looks quite classic on you - even with the back panel. Plus, I think tucking looks okay.

The grinning in the rear I don't mind at all. I think the only way it wouldn't work IMHO is tucked with a cropped jacket. Then in back, all you'd see is that overlayer instead of a true shirttail.

I don't hear any excitement in your words - this blouse sounds like a "supposed to", instead of an "I love it!". And it sounds as if you are iffy about the color. For that reason, I would consider returning it - unless you truly LOVE how the color looks on you.

The best sales price is still a waste of money, if it hangs in your closet unworn, mutely reproaching you every time you reach past it for something you like better.

Thanks, Suz! If it has be worn out it is a deal-breaker, I think. The single-layer silk over dark pants shows through and so I'd have to wear something under and still the lengths would not match up, or paying to alter the placket and hem is kind of a deal. So that is an issue, re: if the drapey panels are just wrong when tucked. The tucked photo was a real-life person on a blog wearing it with slouchy pants.

I realize I can wear it however, but it is helpful to get these impressions. If it does not work as a classic piece, or classic with a twist, then I should look elsewhere and put the $$ there.

I like it a lot. Of course we can't tell about the colour without your face, but it looks beautiful. That layered panel is a bit like the cobalt tunic Sveta sent me from Hilary Radley.

I am not sure how I feel about it tucked in. Under a jacket it would be totally fine, I think. But I get a slight feeling that it is meant to be worn out? Hmmm. If you say you have seen it modelled tucked, I must be wrong.

If you would like to wear it out as well, then maybe you can alter the bottom a bit?

Here is a Theory silk blouse called Rosita layered silk. I think it’s quite nice, but have got some pros and cons. Because of the % off sale price, there is only a 3-day return window.

Pros: The extra layer makes it not see- through up top, so no underlayer needed. A huge plus. The layer adds some interest and maybe structure. A covered placket is one of my faves. It fits, I think, as tailored. I like how it looks tucked in, and it’s a goal to try to add a few tucked-in looks I’m comfortable with, so it would go with whatever pants I may acquire with waistbands that work for tucking, and jackets. Despite the extra layer, it is minimal enough to layer under sweaters. The “color” goes with everything including prints and tweeds and I have a need for a few super-essentials.

Cons: Color—well ! 2 issues—any kind of white/off-white is less flattering on me than a deeper color, so white shirts have not been a goal. This cream color is a little warmer than my ideal off-white. So a charcoal or plum blouse would be more “me”, or an oyster-white, but then I’ve bypassed many colored blouses due to not liking the other features. ( This style was made in at least a couple other colors, the ones I’ve seen randomly were not good for me but I haven’t searched to find who/where).Does the layer hanging out in back look weird when tucked -? perhaps not meant to be worn that way, though I found a few blog photos of it tucked. I can’t use this blouse untucked because it’s too long for a professional look but mostly because of “grinning”. The sleeves are a bit long, but since they’re narrow and soft, are not overwhelming.

The sale price is influencing me no doubt, so I’m trying to see around that. Pro is it is totally neutral, I love the fit, may be “gateway tuck” blouse, and if I end up doing a lot of layering over it, I’m not worried that I spent $$$ on something I partly cover up. Main con is how strongly to hew to “best” colors vs. let it in my closet for its other features. Picky vs. practical?
