I don't wear heels but they both look lovely. Have you tried the navy pinstripe VANS at jcrew right now?

I like the sandals in #9 as well - esp. if they are comfortable. I'm wondering what brand they are...

I really like the Birk like sandals. I'd be tempted to keep and wear since they are cool and more refined than the average Birk. I like the wedge heels but the rounded toe makes them a little less modern to my eye. Honestly though, I'm guilty of buying less trendy shoes because shoes HAVE to be comfy for me to wear them. I'd pass on the Vince if they are tight--too expensive to be unworn. Vans are great but I think they may not be refined enough for your style. There are tons is slip on sneaks out there. Keep looking!

Well. First off, if they are too precarious for the purpose, or they make your toes go numb -- NEXT!!

Doesn't matter how great they look. And I do admit they look great.

I also like the second nude sandal. It's maybe not as "sexy" as the first one, but it's very good-looking. ;)

I'd keep hunting for a slip on sneaker that works.

I like the last sandals, too!

You have such great taste in shoes!

Of the two nude sandals, I think I like the second better because it has a little more presence.

Of the the two slip-on sneakers, I like the look of them both, but I wonder if there's a pair out there that feels more comfortable than the Vince ones which you also like better than the Vans.

I really like the Birk-esque sandals. They look much more elegant than Birks and the one gold strap and one black strap are really nice together. Do you think you'd still like them next year? For me, I'd probably get sandals this late if I really liked them and they were a good price, but it would irritate me to spend a lot of money on something I'd have to put away for the season after only a few wears. Which may or may not be something you'd care about at all.

I think the last ones look nice, and not frumpy. But I could also see them being less exciting if your shoes generally are more like the rest you're looking at. So no advice either way here.

As to the sandals: Do you REALLY want to be the orthopedic surgeon's retirement plan?

Funny isn't it how higher heels can sometimes be more stable?

@Janet, I am still snarfling over my foot "trying to escape" the first pair!

@Donna, you hit my dilemma between the sandals. The ankle strap looks fresher but is a bit dangerous as my heel slips out when I walk fast (which is always) and I nearly twisted and ankle trying them on in my living room. But but but they look do good when I'm standing still!

I do prefer the Vince ones and you are correct that I would use the suede as a dressier pair compared to the vans.

@Jj, I think the theme is comfy first and I hear you! I just love the look of the first but I fear I am buying a future orphan!

@Kelly, I love the Vince too ! But in the short time I had them on, my toes went a little numb. Not sure if that is acceptable.

@Janet, I am trying to decide on which pair to keep. Confounding the decision...I prefer the look of the first one, but feel so much more stable and safer in the second despite the higher heel.

I assume you are asking as between the two pairs of sandals and as between the two pairs of slip-ons?

All are quite nice and all look good on your feet. To my eye (which to tell you the truth isn't all that good), the ankle straps look fresher as do the suede Vinces.

I would try the first ones especially with a knee length skirt to see how you like the proportions, check out both in natural sunlight with whatever you plan to wear with them to see if one of the beiges looks *off*, and if the heels of both are equally stable.

Does the color rub off on either of slip-ons? Is the Vince instep painful in the late afternoon? At this time of year, I would get more use out of suede, but I am living through a drought so YMMV. I see those shoes worn in slightly different contexts, but maybe that's just me, so I don't see them as an apples to apples comparison.

1-2 and 3-4 have such a similar vibe -- are you trying to choose between them? 1-2 almost look like the thin strap might cut and be painful, even though I love a sexy shoe. I think 3-4 is still really sexy but your foot doesn't look like it's trying to escape.

I prefer the Vince over the Vans, but if they're not comfy, that should be a deal-breaker.

Dressy shoe are fab if they are comfy. LOVE the Vince. Those are just awesome. Quite like the Vans too. That's more my price point

1-2 very sexy look (quite Jen Anniston) nice, but comfort is important
3-4 I like a lot and think neutral to wear with lots
5 Much prefer to the 6-7, but if there are fit issues NO
My first test is comfort and fit. Then check if they work for your style and needs. If good deal (less than $40) who cares?

I went crazy. I need help winnowing. I tried to wear the same outfit to focus on the shoes.

1-2: ankle strap pinky beige 80mm heels. Can I wear with a knee length skirt?

3-4: open toe beige 100mm heels. Very very close to my skin tone. The straps are wider and don't go across the ankle, more across the midfoot.

5: Vince charcoal suede slip ons. I sized down. It feels snug across the top of the arch (high arch). One size up and the shoe falls off my foot.

6-7: basic vans in navy. The white stitching seems too casual to me ...but super comfy.

8-9: super comfy, my version of birks...but very sandal-y going into fall. Should I wait until spring?

10-12: super comfy and a tad frumptastic.
