I was glad to hear Angie's opinion on these shirts too, since I'm in the same boat. Seeing everyone's Nexx and Equipment blouses (which are super long) made me want to hide in the corner in my short shirts!

I would definitely look into exchanging these for a different cut, even if it only adds an inch to the length of the garment. An inch makes all the difference in the world when you're trying to keep something tucked in.

I can't wait to see what Angie comes up with for a bag for you!

Suz, I understand about the shirt's length. I am the same. I have long rise, so shirts must be long enough. I've owned shirts with the length shown here, and tucking was hell.

But they do fit you so well everywhere else.

The striped shirt is fantastic though. I would keep them to wear with skirts or higher waisted dress pants. I think that if your goal is to wear the white one with the BF, then keep looking for another one, as you say, this one doesn't do the job. But do you have to assign this white shirt only to the BF? Don't you have other dressier clothes with which to wear a white shirt?

With you trade, both shirts would come very handy. They are such high quality, they command authority and professionalism. I would definitively not return them, even if you can't match them with what you presently have in your wardrobe. I think you need a capsule that matches these shirts for certain academic occasions.

Suz, I am *so* glad Angie chimed in. I read all your threads and could see you were getting frustrated -- but contrary to your opinion, I thought a lot of items were incredible on you. I love the VC solid black and the striped top, I love the skirt. Don't worry, you'll be able to wear hose underneath the skirts. Keep the snakeskin handbag. I have one from NAS a couple of years ago and it's always a go-to. I think you are getting overwhelmed, poor thing. Plan to keep most of it, Suz. It's all looking great. Especially these shirts!

Suz, when you go to take additional photos for us, would you mind getting a closer shot of where the bust darts and princess seams land on you? I don't think there's a problem with the length if you're ok with skipping the untucked-with-pants look, but all the cloth in the back bothers my eye just a teeny bit.

Yes, they look sensational in these pics! I'm of the minds that the right length for leaving untucked is NOT the same right length for tucking into lower rises. (Like the right length for tops over skrits isn't the right length for tops over pants.

Oh, Angie, you are SUCH a sweetheart. Honestly you are.

If you know the perfect bag for me, let it be known.

I will show you the skirts again tomorrow. I really want to keep them, but they are too long as is (I have rolled the skirt in this pic) and so I want to know whether to alter at the waist or by cutting the hem shorter. Krish worried that cutting the hem would ruin the curve of the skirt and I don't know if that is true or not. Since you have seen them, perhaps you have an idea.

I will need to get a better slip to wear when I have tights on with these skirts, but I like them enough to do that, I think.

Thank you again. More pics tomorrow.

You launched me into orbit with that first outfit, Suz. *WOW*. The skirt is sensational too!! More *WOW*. The proportions and pattern mixing here are perfect. THIS outfit is honing your style.

The shirt could be too short with jeans and trousers when un-tucked. But lets give it a bash anyway.

As far as the handbags go - I loved the size of the snake skin. Better for little you than the HUGE black bag. The colour was great in my book - not too Summery at all. But the chain strap is not your style persona. You need something more "no-nonsense". I can help you find a bag if you like.

Suz, I feel your pain...but believe me, they are longer on you than mine is on me. Period.
Do you have trousers or jeans with higher rise? How they work with them? This is one of the reasons I semi-tuck with BF jeans - shirts tent to un-tuck anyway - but I can tuck with other jeans...not BB shirt, I can tuck it into skirt and this is it!
Another thought: you don't need to tuck your shirt in to jeans all the time, do you? These would look sublime untucked because they are fitted! Can we see a pic of untucked shirt with jeans?
As for tailored and fitted: tailored is longer. I tried them on this fall and tailored shirt is about 1" longer than fitted in the same size.

Okay...well...you will get me to reconsider yet, you lovely things!

Denise...I think they look okay untucked with a skirt. But untucked with pants they get into the not-sweet zone of too-short-for-pants looks.

And they work tucked for skirts, too....actually, they are really good for that because you don't get a lot of bunching fabric. But they're basically too short to tuck into pants. I tried with my regular skinnies and it's not comfortable; in fact, if anything, it's better with the BF for some weird reason I have not yet identified (maybe just that everything is better with a good BF, tee hee!)

Hmm. I will put these on again and see how they feel.

I am wondering now if I should not have had the tailored shirt. When I tried them on in store (back in the spring) the tailored didn't feel right - this size was too small and the next size up was too big. Fitted seemed the best compromise. Now I wonder....And wonder if I could have gone down a size in regular. Sometimes I do that, and it works for certain things.

I'm with some of the others here in thinking maybe you ought to reconsider your opinion of these shirts. To my eye, the fit is perfect, the shirt is a good length untucked, and the shirt can be tucked into everything but those extra low-hanging boyfriends.

If I have all that right, then everything revolves around the boyfriend's happiness? I mean, OK so you're infatuated right now, but, trust me, in a couple of years you'll probably look back at him and wonder "what WAS I thinking?"

I don't get it , Suz, they look Absolutley perfect, but I know I can't feel how it feels on you. Could it be that you are just used to the feeling of a longer blouse? But if it doesn't feel right you won't wear them and ultimately that should rule.

Ugh! They really are SO close to perfect. The fit is amazing. I love the cuts, the white, the patterned. I have several shirts that are borderline too short, but of course I only paid a few dollars for them. Is there any chance you could tuck and then pretend you meant to semi-tuck if it started to come out? Also, if you wear a cotton cami underneath, does it kind of stick to the shirt and help it stay tucked in? (Can you tell how badly I want these to work?) :/

Just wanted to say that many shirts would border on being too short for tucking into BF jeans since those jeans sit so much lower on a person. I wouldn't dismiss the shirts based on that particular combination.

If you are not happy with them that's one thing, but I find the fit and the length extremely flattering. These tops hit at that sweet spot that elongates your leg line. I seriously think you should reconsider.

Ugh! So sad! I agree with Shannon--these look fantastic on you. And they look fantastic in both outfits. Were you planning on wearing the black stripe with your boyfriends? Have you had good luck getting nicely fitting button downs otherwise? I just worry that these two are going to be sacrificed on the alter of versatility when you could just as easily have these for dressier items and round them out with another, longer white button down.

If you've had great luck finding other button downs that work for you, then definitely send back. If not, consider keeping.

Just wondering, too, have you tried the J Crew perfect shirts? I am in love with them, and they are long enough to comfortably tuck FWIW.

ETA: What Denise said too! She has such a great eye!
ETA2: And wow, how fab does that striped one look with the pencil skirt and the leopard shoes. Feeling faint! Beautiful!
