Thanks, Beth Ann. I tried a light-colored (but warm) jacket and you were right. It worked!

Do you have any jackets to pair with the look in your original dress pic?

Both of these are flattering and good fit. Black is always an acceptable backdrop, but I think some lighter colors -- even in winter fabrications, would really allow the prints to shine. Love your oxfords!

Thanks, Emily. In #1, to be honest I just can't tell what I look like (?)--it is easy for me to have an opinion on length, styling, etc. on others but I lack an objective eye for myself. This may be a summer dress: here it is with bare legs and sandals. It has an attached self-belt (I put my slim black belt over it, and that looked better with the sandals, but I am not a belt girl so self-belt is probably better). I think I am trying to force it to be a winter dress. It is not a winter dress, but a dark cardi + sheerer tights (as you suggest) might work. My arm is up (taking the photo) which may throw the waist off a bit. I don't have much of a waist (straight figure).
#2: thanks for your comments. I like it too and you have good ideas.

#1 - The fit looks good to me... What are you unsure about? Will you wear it on its own, or with a cardigan or jacket? Would you layer a blouse underneath, perhaps? Or add a belt on top? Hose-wise, What about something sheer or nude with some texture? Black hose that is not so opaque might take some of the harshness away, and act as a visual bridge to a black shoe or boot.

#2 - I like this a lot, I think the fit and colours are beautiful. I think it looks good with black pants, but it would also be fab in my opinion with white, grey, dark denim and blue bottoms (trousers, skinnies, pencil skirt?).

I ordered two items from Boden (both florals). Both fit well, but I'm not sure how they look. #1 is a dress that here I'm wearing with black tights that I had on with a darker skirt + grey oxfords. I think the black is too harsh, but I'm not sure what type of tights/shoes would work. I have very limited shoe selection, but any ideas are appreciated. I'd love to wear this in seasons other than summer. Perhaps a grey tight as well?
#2 is a blouse that's easier to see at http://tinyurl.com/a854vm3 (multi carnation). Is it OK with the black pants? Maybe dark jeans? Ideally colored skinnies that blue color that you can see in the link but not so well in my photo?
