Thank you Lantana and Sue.

I think I'm leaning towards taking this back... I don't want to have to work so hard to make this work, I was looking for versatility! It might just be time to get that sewing machine repaired and head to Fabricville...

I really appreciate all the great input given here. Many sets of eyes and perspectives are so so valuable. thanks!!
I agree with the overall assessment, Elizabeth. It's a fun skirt, and you have fabulous legs so in that sense it is super flattering. And yet there is something off -- not with you, but with it. The proportions seem funny in themselves, and then trying to adapt your own figure flattery needs into this equations sends you into contortions.

I actually agree with your assessment of the cropped jackets with this skirt. These particular ones seem a bit long to be genuinely cropped...and they are quite boxy. Combine that with the horizontal stripes and the skirt's fabrication, and there is something overall quite stiff about the look. Also, it might be more girlish than you prefer -- another consideration.

I love that you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, and also to decide if it just isn't for you.

I really think the idea of this skirt for you is fantastic...but full skirts that are long enough seem impossible to find this season!

The skirt's stripes make a strong statement which I feel is more successful in the outfits that reveal less skin. So the 3/4 length and full length tops look better to my eye than the short sleeved tops. I'd like to see the pink top with the blue denim and the blue top with the white denim. I like them tucked to bring the focus on the skirt.

I htink you guys have nailed it. While there is much I like about this, there's obviously something bothering me, otherwise I wouldn't have asked! And I think it's the length for the style, and the placement of the stripes within the skirt itself.

You guys are good!

I also find it interesting that you all like the cropped jackets. When I look at myself in them, I see a very square looking top, and feel it draws attention to my not-so-delicate shoulders. Maybe it's a look I just need to adjust my eye to??

I also tried the semi tuck, and more relaxed tops, but I felt the proportions were way off for my body. Again, it looked like two big squares. Not at all like the great looks in Angie's posts (thanks for the links btw AJ, I hadn't seen all of those)

thanks so much! Now just have to decide this makes it a "R" or not.
Although I like the pattern and the length, there is something about the shape that doesn't work to my eye. I'm seeing you in a pencil skirt with one of those loose new woven silky tees Angie blogged about. The pencil skirt could be at or above the knee, you have great legs.

I like #2 the best. I think this skirt needs to be worn with the tops either tucked in, or cropped tops/jacket. I'm wondering though how you feel about the length? In my opinion, its just a little too short for the shape/style of the skirt.

Beautiful skirt! Like it best in 2, 3 and 4. I feel it looks best with tucked or shorter toppers. Now, honestly, I wish it were a couple of inches longer --- not because it's too young, or not flattering (it looks lovely on your figure), but because I just like the proportions best that way, and I think the print would be more dramatic. That said -- I can't find the perfect length in the stores anyway, so wear and enjoy!
A very pretty skirt- I like the shape and length on you!
I think I prefer it with tucked-in toppers, or a fitted one un-tucked, closer in colour to the yellow stripe at the waist band area.
LOVE the white top tucked with the denim jacket!!

Interesting that hedgiehog prefers the untucked look. I was going to say that I think this skirt needs to have tucked in tops. I like 2&3 best but also like the others that have the shirt tucked in. My thinking is that you have plenty of toppers for this skirt plus it looks good on you. The question that remains is whether or not you are comfortable wearing it. If the answer is yes, then keep and wear in it's many variations!

I really like it on you - in fact, I'll be checking it out on their website myself. All of these looks are good but I think I like cropped jacket (#3 especially) best. Maybe your eye just needs to get used to the fuller skirt but I think it suits you and the length keeps it from being juvenile.

Hi all,
One thing on my "list" for this spring/summer is a patterend skirt. I found this last weekend at Jacob, loved the colours, and thought I could wear it with a ton of my tops. But when I started trying it on, and taking pics, I'm not so sure it's the best shape for me.

Honest opinions please... does it work? On ME? Hmm, just noticed there are none shown tucked in w/o a cardi or jacket. And most of my tops worn out were just BAD. #6 & #7 are the best of these.

And if so, which of the top options do you like? I didn't pay enough attention to my shoes when taking these, obviously they can be switched around, and I do have even more :). And I didn't get as far as jewellery either.

Ha, gotta love what trying on multiple pull on tops does for the hair...
