I'm hearing you Thistle - I've been on the return merry-go-round lately and it is more than frustrating. But as Una pointed out, it means you're not settling for "just about" and in the end, that's a good thing. This way you only have items in your closet you love and that make you feel good. My recommendation would be to take a break from shopping for a bit. Sometimes I need to "rest my ego", you know?

You have several gorgeous dresses and jackets now and in my opinion, neither one of these dresses is good enough for gorgeous you.

I hope you find the designer that cuts for your classical figure so you have a go-to for these things!

I don't know your size, but I did do a quick run on ebay and saw some Eileen Fisher dresses in shapes that might flatter. (I searched for larger sizes, just to see what was there really and not because I think this IS your size.)

I remember a friend in NYC (petite lass, maybe a 16P) bemoaning that she had no nice things. I took her to Eileen Fisher and she was so thrilled. It was the most fun, because you could see her feeling more gorgeous the more she tried on.

ER-shift-dress-gathered-v-neck-knit-3-4-slv-stretch-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gorgeo...../251249386

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eileen.....l-Dress-L-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-EI.....50?pt=US_C

http://www.ebay.com/itm/XL-EIL.....rtdress-/3

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRETTY.....-XL-NEW-/1

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eileen.....178-00-/33

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EILEEN.....0937073?pt

http://www.ebay.com/itm/14-Eil.....ift-Dress-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/nwot-E.....Silk-Linin

Oh I am so sorry to hear about the hamster run of buy and return. If it is any consolation I have returned way more than I kept in the last 3 months and have so many fails that I kept which is money just tossed away. I love the pink on you for spring and summer but the fit isn't quite right in the armholes as others have said. If this could be altered I think it would be a keep. Perhaps take a weeks breather and then regroup.

I am sorry to hear nothing is working out! Sometimes shopping is so frustrating.

I like the navy print dress, it looks like it fits well but I would shorten it and scrunch the sleeves.

The pink dress is an almost. The armholes look too big as someone else said while the bust looks a bit tight. Those are really tough to alter, so I would pass.

Completely unrelated -- but I want to tell you what amazing skin you have. This makes me think clothes with a more open or v neck are the ticket for you, because you can see your lovely face, neck and upper chest all in one.

Solidarity! I know this problem, only too well. i don't do it via online so I get the pleasure of being frustrated store after store on my rare shopping days. I am seriously considering going for custom as an alternative. Just have to find one perfect dress and then I want copies made in the colors and materials I like. But then, finding Ms perfect dress is frustrating to begin with! Take a little break and wear and love the clothes you have. There is no hurry really!

Sorry about the returns Thistle. Don't let it get to you. I do most of my shopping online and probably return 80-90% of what I order, no matter what the size of my belly/body. Instead of thinking you struck out or blaming your body, think of it as having high standards. Which is a good thing for your closet!

Of the dresses, I think the wrap style flatters you more but I love the pink color on you! Though there is some puckering at the armholes so that either should be tailored or maybe keep looking. Do you have any pumps or sandals you can wear? I feel like the boots and tights are a bit heavy for the dresses, esp. with spring approaching.
Good advice from everyone. Sorry about the frustration : ( That pink is a fantastic color on you though!

As far as swim suits, take a look at Athleta. I Love, with a capital L, my suits. They are shorts and a top that cover the stomach and they come as separates so you can order different sizes for top and bottom if need be.

So sorry you are having such a hard time with jeans. I know how you feel, I waffle between sizes and sometimes nothing seems just right. Hang in there, take a deep breath and remember.....it's not about the size but how you feel in the garment. I haven't been a member for long but in the short time I've been around I've seen you look fab in many things.
As far as the frocks, #2 suits you better, both in colour and fit.
Chin up......((hugs)) :-)

I'm sorry, Thistle. That is so disappointing. I hope you know that it is the clothes--not you. I would enjoy the fab pieces you have picked up lately and then try again when your head is in a better place. I don't think either dress is as fab as some of the others that I've seen you post. The pink dress looks similar to the navy one you wore with the lilac blazer. I think the navy one fit beautifully while this one seems to have some armhole issues. Go for PPP--you deserve it!
I love the violet dress. It looks like it might need the slightest tuck around the waist. The color, though, the color is so beautiful on you and so perfect for heading in to spring, I love it! I think it is a strong contender.

Sorry to hear the jeans are still frustrating you. I know how painful it is to try on pair after pair. And I know the frustration of sizing charts. I just commented today on another thread saying that I have found size charts to be less than helpful. It seems like they are never accurate!

Eliza may be right. Somehow, when I stop looking for something, it will come my way. I still keep my feelers out there--I just don't actively search for it.

Sometimes the search becomes burdensome, instead of compelling and even fun. We all have moments like this. I take as a signal to put my efforts in other directions for a little while so I can re-charge. Ironically, it's often at that point that I stumble upon just the right thing.

I have been on a few sides of fitting dilemmas and it can be challenging for every woman to find a proper fit in a mass manufactured garment. I have also noticed that when I am in a major shopping groove, I can fail to optimize what I already own, which undermines the effort in another way. Ah, the philosophical approach to fashion... You have found beautiful clothes and created great outfits with them. Hang in there- you are already ahead with your careful purchases and more will follow.
Thistle, I have seen much better on you. I think #2 is an almost, but I think it needs a slightly lower cut in

area a little better. This makes everything look closed off and is less flattering for the girls. It is however an awesome color and nicely belted.

Dress in #2 is very pretty! I like how you belted it. Would it go with your coral or lilac jacket? I would pass on #1, too long, and you have better frocks in your stock. IKWYM about nothing fitting. There is something in the (icy cold) air. I am retaining water like a camel and had trouble zipping up my boots today! Maybe I will go on a salt free kick for a few days. Ignore the size numbers, Thistle. You are one of the fabbest!

I like the dress in #2. I hear you on the return merry go round. Makes one want to give up shopping for a while when that keeps happening.

So, I bought the Leith track pants, and they are too small. I cannot size up. I bought 2 sizes of JAG jeans in three washes, none of them fit. I ordered the next size up, but I am rapidly hating bad size charts. Especially when they make me size up. Irrational, yes, but still hurts the ego.

I bought a workout outfit that was too small, can't size up.

I bought two swim suits, both fit but neither had anywhere near enough support for a post-nursing momma.

Feeling a bit blue at the moment, tired and frustrated at living in a world designed for women half my size.

So, yes, I said no dresses for a bit, but I bought two anyway.

Pic#1 - Yes, it is a wrap, but I feel like it might look like pajamas.
Pic#2 - the Violet dress I tried before but was too big came back in stock one size down.

I am looking for honesty. No point keeping either if they aren't fab. I will just regret it later.
