Vildy and Adelfa -- Thanks for adding more to the styling input discussion. If it hadn't been 90 degrees, I promise I would have modeled the patent booties/sheer or textured hose for you and others and dug around to get more than the leather blazer shown seen. I agree a little shine/texture will help! Janet -- Can I blame you (and Alicat, and all the others who look amazing in wraps) for my hesitation? No? Awwww. It's pretty boring, as I'm one of the ones who has lots of trouble with pumps, buys for comfort/walking,   AND isn't a shoe person.  *************** Just to clarify my initial comments about the print's adding curves being a neutral -- As someone who by nature and despite nurture-to-date lacks the lovely Hourglass/Pear lines, I was just surprised that this print gave me some. Flattery--yes! Wrap trouble: this is *a lot* of overlap. I bet it feels comfortable! Winterizability--I have spent the last two winters trying to winterize dresses. I did find, per Suz and others, that doing the boot + inch or two of skin really, really, helped. (I was scared of this, having been brought up to believe that one does not flash white skin, but bravely tried it.) I also think--YMMV--that doing a knit topper with a knit dress sort of helps. This could be a blazer/other jacket in a knit fabrication, or a (dreaded) cardi. It's a great dress, great find! I also want to see it with a white cami. Diane and her crew call this raspberry leopard print but I'm glad it reads more abstract than animal to others, too. ;) The mixed opinions on "how much black can this dress handle?" definitely mirror my own. It doesn't help that out-of-season outfits always feel wrong to me so I'm trying things on in broiling heat and feeling stupid.  For the more or less ok-with chunks of black, thanks to:  Jeneva, who wins for most hilarious rave. I'm wearing/melting in black micronets in the photos, and as some guessed they do read more of a matte black there. But I would definitely want to wear this with: <ul> <li>tall black boots in Fall/Early Winter and again in Late Spring </li> <li>my new patent booties* and the 'nets/sheer black hose</li> <li>a dark jacket/cardigan if needed</li> </ul> I have charcoal and deep espresso boots, and I can drag them out and at least assess, but most of my non-black jackets/cardigans seem to hit at the wrong spot. Downside of a smaller-ish closet. ;) ETA Since Suz snuck in with more info and I did take a couple of micro/net boot shots before ripping them off so I wouldn't get the dress all sweaty. Apparently I deleted the front-facing one so #2 is what's available. ******************* Gut instinct when I first tried it on (tired, after work etc) was: I like this...at last, a printed wrap that looks pretty good on me! Print *does* look like the studio shot [#1]...fact that it looks more muted from a distance gives me greater comfort re work. I loved what I saw. To my eye, this looks perfect - great fit, interesting pattern, seasonally transferable, lots of styling options. After reading your questions I think it passes all criteria you highlighted. Definitely not too much white for colder months styling - your hair adds all the extra darkness you may feel you need. p.s. (And I think how the dress emphasizes your backside curves is a man-magnet if I've ever seen one!  Seriously, that is a terrific aspect of this dress!) You still appear quite long and lean.  I wouldn't guess that wraps are hard to fit on you. 3.  The length is glorious, and so hard to find these days! 3.  I never love the self belt on these, except when I'm wearing them under a topper.  I sometimes wear a belt right over the self belt.  You might like the fit better with a more structured waist. 4.  This doesn't read as a strong "animal print" to my eye -- more abstract b/w.  It's definitely a lovely piece, but I always imagine that each item has to "pay rent" to live in my closet.  Will this item play well with the other tenants in your closet?  Are you happy going out on the town with it? I'd like to say "need" but I have no shortage of (synthetic) dresses. Unfortunately for me, most silk jersey ends up in wraps, which Iove on others but find problematic on me. I've tried on a few DVF prints recently and they have been B-A-D on. This one seems more flattering, but is my bar too low after some really not-good attempts?  Though heavily discounted, the dress was still a chunk of change and would be one of my limited number of fall/winter buys (most of which are already bought). There are currently no options for a different size.
