Thanks Cocolion, I am an Hourglass with rectangle tendencies as my waist isn't much smaller than my hip & I have skinny legs so most jeans are too tight in the waist unless they fall off my hip & are too big in the butt & thighs by a lot. I don't actually think I have found any Levis that I like on me, except for the shorts I posted in another thread, but shorts are easier because there is no leg to deal with.

I'm not going to get the Levis for myself. Shiny had asked earlier in the thread for me to let her know if I found a 9" rise white jean for her. Maybe I should PM her?

My thinking is you need to look for a pair of better fitting white jeans. (And I think bootcuts are fine with pants but you need to get them hemmed just right.) I don't have as many muffin top problems when I find a pair that fit right. As for the Levi's slight curve, I remember them being too tight in the butt but I am an hourglass. You look like a demi curve to me not a slight curve. (So I would pass on them, too much of a risk since they aren't returnable.) How would you describe your shape, is it hourglass or rectangle? If it is rectangle then maybe the slight curve would work.

Shiny I found white jeans with a 9 inch rise on Levis.com. They are not in my locals store & may be final sale online but they are only $19.99

http://us.levi.com/product/ind.....9.11049798

They are the slight curve. I'm not sure what rise the other curve ID have but you can check. I'm not sure which curve you need.

I'm unsure about buying final sale but I said I would let you know if I found a 9" rise white jean.

I recall Angie recommends sizing up for white denim because you don't want them too tight, since white is not as forgiving as dark denim. You want the jeans to skim your figure. I didn't notice the creasing until you mentioned it. Jeans do stretch, but white jeans need to be washed more frequently (even after a single wear) to retain impeccable whiteness. so.... I'm going to say, "I think you can do better." with caveat that I'm still waiting for my own perfect white jeans, and I've been looking for years. These could do until you find perfect ones. But I've learned for myself that I won't wear them if not perfect. Because white is so unforgiving!

Apart from the low waist do these jeans look alright then? There is a lot of creasing, some at the back near the knees, but I'm wondering if that is becasue I sized up to avoid worse muffin top. I haven't found any white jeans & I'm wondering if I should settle on these until I do. We have a long Summer here.

Elle, see this thread - not white though:
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....pid=917384

You might like the flare on these, it's a slim bootcut. It's like... nearly a straight leg/barely a bootcut. My eye is so used to skinnies, this bootcut is not a difficult adjustment, if you know what I mean.

Re-reading your original post, with flares you *do* want the slacks to be fitted in the thigh and hips... if you're short, you also need to watch out for the knee as well, and where the flare begins and where it'll end once hemmed.

You don't look short-legged to me...accounting for the photo angle of course....but take it with a grain of salt, since I am REALLY short-legged, LOL!

I have one pair of boot cuts and I had them hemmed for a heel, for precisely that reason. I feel it gives me more balanced proportions.

I think for the muffin top it is all a question of how you feel. These look okay, from what I can tell - so it has to be the way they feel on you.

I think these look fine as long as you don't tuck in. I also think you would like a slightly higher waist (not mom jeans) as they would be more comfortable with less muffin top. The flats look fine as would skinnies or straight legs. Everyone gets muffin top with really low jeans but medium rise jeans are out there! You look good!

I do not think you look too short at all -- you are wearing these with flats for the pic, right? Bear in mind that the camera angle often has a way of making legs look short, if you look at the pics I posted of my new jeans, my legs definitely look truncated -- but it's because my husband was taking the pic and he's 10 inches taller than me. If I had remembered to ask him to sit and take the photo straight on, rather than looking down at me, my legs would look much more proportionate, which they are, and yours are too.

As for the rise, this is a matter of preference. Your muffin top doesn't look that bad to me -- nothing like what I wind up with. And if you are going to wear shirts untucked or even tucked in, these jeans will work. The question is: regardless of how it looks, are you comfortable in this rise? The answer for me is "no." Even if I know it looks just fine to others, the feeling of the flub hanging over the waistband just drives me nuts, so I prefer a higher waistband that hits right where I'm flubbiest, because it "locks and loads" it all in (i.e., just below the belly button -- not so high it's above the belly button)... there are trade-offs to that (your rear and mid section elongate) but I am more than willing to make that trade off for the sake of *feeling,* not just *looking* fab.

If you do manage to find white jeans with a 9 inch rise, let me know.

I'm not much help, but I feel your pain. They don't look awful, but you might do better with a higher rise. I hate the feeling of having flesh peeking out even if it can't be seen.

These really aren't tight at all, though it looks it with the muffin top. Also I feel short legged when I wear boot cuts with flats. I do have shorter legs proportionally. Should I look for skinnies? Should I look for higher waist? I can take better pics with help later. I might need to switch to flares but for flats I prefer skinnies. I have a higher waisted pair of shorts bigger than I normally wear my jeans & they solve the muffin problem but when I buy jeans that big the legs & sometimes hip & butt are too big. With flares or shorts there is no need for fitted thigh & hip.
