If for example you only generally have one pair of booties (that's me!), two black/near-black pairs will seem more similar than say, black motos vs. beige open toe suede. So I see how someone could feel these are similar. That said, I absolutely love the new ones and actually find them more subtle and less statementy than the motos with their buckles and heavy visual weight. They're not quite as comfy as these silver booties, but comfortable enough with an added insole for anything except all-day city traipsing; the DP's are already really soft and I think I would even wear them for sightseeing.</p> <p><b>Elle</b>, I didn't think about the new booties being a future replacement. I can resole my old booties to get more life out of them, but the construction quality (Ivanka Trump brand) is definitely a level below Donald J. Pliner.</p> <p><b>Aida</b>, good points to think about. I definitely had a few times last year when I passed on wearing the black moto booties because they're very visually heavy, so the lighter silver color may be helpful in those outfits. I live in a mild climate and wear booties for 3 seasons. I put the black ones away for spring because I was tired of black but kept wearing my green Chelsea booties into May. They're Donald J. Pliner, which is outside my normal budget (these are still on the pricey side given my NAS success, but affordable), and amazingly comfortable and well-made. But are they different/better enough compared to my black moto booties from last season?</p> <p>The shaft on the DP's is slightly shorter and the circumference slightly wider, so there's sometimes a flowerpot effect depending on how my foot is positioned. The black moto booties were an absolute HEWI in being narrow enough in the ankle for me, though; I have Chelsea booties that I wear a lot which fit similarly in width to the DP's.</p> <p>And style-wise, are they different enough or will they be splitting wears?&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;<br />Pics: 1 is my old black booties, 2 is the new booties, 3 with one on each foot, 4 showing maximum ankle gap on the new pair. </p>
