Oh, I definitely like the faded black way way better than blue.

... probably explains the unexplained plethora of black jeans I have...

Sorry this isn't working out for you Una! I hope the pajama jeans will tide your Unusual Denim itch.

Your post sent me to randomly check Yoox today, where I had been idly stalking the jeans ... where I was amazed to exactly one pair of black (I think waxed) R13 x-over jeans pop up in my size! We'll see what happens ...

K.P, that is a good plan! To update, I returned these in a fit of pique. Will stalk the smaller size but not wasting more mental time on them until then. Thank you all for putting up with this struggle TWICE!

OH! And buy them in the smaller size at the ridiculous price if you can return them. Then try them, determine if they will work, return and stalk. Yes. That is perhaps a tiny bit unethical. Don't tell anyone what an awful shopper I am.

Una, how do these feel compared to the last pair that you bought that we all said to size up on? I'm just wondering if these feel like two sizes bigger (so size down) or just one size bigger? If they feel just one size bigger, I say go for a tailor trimming them down from a couple of inches below the bottom of your bum all the way through where they start skimming your calves. Tell them you are looking for them to fit like jodhpurs and show them pics of the fit you want with these jeans on other people. That is, if you feel like you can risk an alteration. Otherwise, you are still going to have to wait for the right ones.

It's been a while, but I seem to remember someone saying the crossover style runs big. Wasn't Denise in a 25 or something like that? Oh wait, here's the thread.

I don't know if the PJJs will sub for your crossover jean desires, but I think they will at least help you hold out for a better size. SO glad they finally shipped!

I know, Rae! They are stretchy and baggy but not drapey soft. I so want them to work but feel I am beating a dead horse. I find it hard to believe I could be much smaller in size. Does R13 run big?

On another note, my pajama jeans are finally on the way! Maybe they will distract me from this crossover madness.

Wow, the legs look really baggy all over. I might even want to see 2 sizes down, since I know your bottom half is smaller than the top half. I would be tempted to try them except I think we are the same jeans size right now.

Gryffin, I am anywhere from 26 - 29 depending on brand. These are stretchy and I could size down for sure. Not sure it would solve the problems.

LL, thanks for the tips. You are the reason I tried these again! I am not sure about fitted tops on me as an IT, but you could be right. I am going to retry with shoes and better cuffing but then I may give up.

These are not around at an affordable price in a size down right now. Will have to stalk. Does anyone want them before I send them back (they are sold out at Yoox and were $149)?

Really tough call, Una. I'm not loving the way they are looking right now. (And you know, I love the jeans in theory). It could be the LL's points would solve all issues. Agree with Shevia that they would look totally different with a hem and the right footwear -- if you're still unsure, please show with the right footwear -- it does influence K/R opinions -- try as people may, they often can't get past the styling in making these decisions, and part of that is simply because fit can be hard to estimate over the internet. So styling becomes the focus.

I do not love these but am having a hard time figuring out why. I think it might be the fading - the fading that is supposed to be at the knee it more like mid-calf on you. I think this makes the whole look off a bit. But, I have a thing about this, as a short person - you might not care.

Una - I really like these. This is a very unique style and, IMHO which you should feel free to ignore, you need to let them be what they want to be. I think LL's advice is most key since she's played with them and shortening them to the right length will make them hang better. I like them with the jacket and with a great bootie I think they will be divine. I do second LL's suggestion of keeping the top very slim. Ribbed tank, fitted muscle tee. I think it would be more conventionally flattering and deliberate with a slim fit on top. But this is a look you that many people will have trouble getting their head around, so I think the validation must come from within. Styling and attitude is everything!! But I have a total sweet spot for these jeans. I am really considered the black waxed version which is still available from barney's. May I ask did you find them TTS? I usually take a 27 in jeans, did you need to shift your usual sizing? Too expensive for me to order more than 1 pr for try on at a time which really keeps me from ordering. But I like them alot. I would be interested how the size down fits too although they are meant to be roomy!

How do these feel in terms of fit on your waist and hip? I ask because these are not meant to be slimmer in the thigh area. They fit similar to a slight harem or jodpur type of pant and should sit a bit low on the waist, resting more just above the hip. So the fit should taper in to be slim on the lower leg but loose on the upper thigh area with an ever so slightly dropped crotch.

Right now these look like they may be loose on the lower leg as well, although, speaking from the experience of trying on mine, the effect may be coming from the excess fabric at the bottom/ankle area pushing the rest of the fabric on the lower leg up to look bulkier. These jeans do not "scrunch" well at the ankle, imho, if there's too much fabric because the denim is thick and causes the whole fit to look off.

The drape on mine didn't really look right till I had my seamstress shorten them. I left them long enough to have a teensy bit of scrunch depending on the shoe but more to hit maybe an inch off the ground so the drape wouldn't make for that bulkier look (Also, so I can roll them to wear slightly more cropped with booties and flats if I so choose).

One other suggestion, I'd try them out with a more slim fit top. Because these are so voluminous I think the overall effect looks more "right" when paired with a body skimming top to counterbalance the full effect of the thigh with the tapered lower leg.

I would try the size down for comparison, as I think you need to have them longer, and maybe the size down would allow you to get the length and they might look better.

I think narrower thighs would be good Una. Do you think your seamstress could do that? Have you tried the size down yet? It's a nice style on you, so don't give up just yet!

I looked at two of the links (can't get the Saks one) & they look as slouchy as yours on the thighs imo. Or am I missing something?

What do you think the problem is?

They are folded under. They would scrunch but the roll looks bad. God these are frustrating - because they are so exactly what I have always wanted ...and yet I can't get them to work. I feel like kicking the wall!

Well, speaking as someone who LOVES these jeans - I would keep this pair, so that you can get the slouch around the waist and hips - and tweak (alter) the legs so that the thighs were just a bit slimmer!
(I ordered these last week when I saw they were on sale for less than half price - can.not.wait.until.they.get.here!)

Hmm, I'm still not convinced. I actually think the legs may be too wide (or maybe stiff) all over. I want the lower legs to be more tapered. Also, are they really that length or do you have them folded under? Because I really dislike the length right now. I want them either longer with scrunch or rolled up bf style.
