I am with the others on this. The sweater is a lovely colour but seems to want to be semi-tucked or something. I think all the other items have potential!

Bj-- thanks for chiming back in on the fabric. When I took the pictures I realized it was a knit not a woven---- it has texture and a lot of structure so I just kinda assumed.

Columbine and Lynne--- I'm glad you both like the wristlet.

Lynne-- I would just take it up through the hips, not the waist--- there is some extra fabric that doesn't follow the curve of my body there--- basically not tighten anywhere but take up the extra "flap" of fabric--- I usually have to have this done to all my pencils because of the way my body tapers.

So, it seems like everyone else is as mixed on the sweater as I am! Darn it---

Elly, the wristlet and belt are fabulous and the tooled leather seems very authentic for you. I love the jumper with the pants and the skirt, and FWIW, I wouldn't take the skirt in; to my eye it sits beautifully as it is. I thinks it's a very comfortable waistband height, too.

Ok, i can see how that fabric could be dressy, but it looks like a thick knit and lends itself to dressing down. Such a rich color.

Here we go!
UPDATE-- Spent part of the day moving furniture and moving boxes so I'd
equipment and spot! I'm such a geek. --- Beware, my walls are yellow,
so if the color looks weird, sorry. We have two smoke blue rooms, a navy
blue room, a cream dining room with no "walls", the tan bathroom, and a
mint kitchen.

Bj--- I appreciate ideas on how to wear the skirt--- I wish you all could see it in person to see if it reads as too dressy for my "jeans and khaki" workplace (the fabric) but function-wise I think that it is actually a length and fit I could wear to do my job in. I would probably mostly wear it dressed down with a chunky pullover or with the leather jacket and sweatshirt combo-- I do have a dressier ponte Halogen seamed pencil that is higher waisted, but it doesn't get worn much in winter because I don't have a pair of dressy and skirt appropriate booties. But casually I could wear it with my docs.

I hadn't thought about the length of the top--- maybe that is what is weird?

I also hadn't noticed the buckle being that "out there" --- I love the design, but am concerned that in my environment it will look like I bought it from the western wear store, when I'd rather look like I bought it from the mens' department.

The wristlet is super cool.

I'm still in training here at YLF, so I defer to others on the top. Lovely color! I think the skirt looks nice and professional. From the photos I can't tell that it needs to be altered.

love the wristlet.

the sweater could use a semi-tuck or blousy tuck. it's either too long or too short, hitting at a problematic spot.

the skirt is very basic with excellent shape and length. i can see it with some of your more recent purchases eg. the plaid shirt, the controversial boatneck shirt or the dark color wrap shirt you wore for the gallery opening. i can also see it going very down town with a hoodie and leather jacket and boots/booties.

need to see the belt in action...

I went ahead and editted my response to the comments-- somehow it got published before I was finished.

I'd love to find a wristlet or clutch that isn't to dressy to take in and out of my main bag on the run to the pharmacy, but also looks good for gallery openings.

As far as the sweater, I'm wondering if it is too big (because of the armpit fit and low waist), not the right style, or if I'm just confused?

Any thoughts on the skirt for work use? I know it could be altered fairly inexpensively, but IDK how much wear it would get.

How about the belt?-- my intitial reaction was good, but I'm wondering if it seems "off".

Salt Sea-- I'm glad you like the wristlet-- I'm pretty in love with the pattern and leather, but the shape and size seem more casual to me. Hmmm, I appreciate the advice with the top . . . I'm not sure about tucking with this one as there is a lot of fabric!

Alasse -- I'm pretty inexperienced with scale of handbags, so I appreciate the eyes at YLF. Small is good in some ways and may be awkward in others.

Thimbleina-- I'm glad you dropped in. I've come to really appreciate your advice on posts (we seem to have similar wardrobe goals and styles). I'm glad about another YAY for the wristlet, I like the sweater a lot but can't tell if I'm reacting to the soft wonderful fabric and color and overlooking other things.

I LOVE the wristlet. I think could work dressy or casual.

I am sure more experienced eyes than mine will offer thoughts - my novice opinion is that I like the color and the fluid fit of the sweater on you, but I don't like the bottom - where it hits at the hip and how it hangs. Can you try tucking it - whether it's a half-tuck or a full belted tuck? I think tucking it a bit and letting it blouse out would look better.

Dear ladies,

I call again on your wisdom in my experiment with new fits. I really want a fluid pullover this winter and have tried several with no dice. My IT and busty tendencies seem to fight each other. This one is from Eddie Bauer and is a very high quality cotton. I thought I'd try a V-neck for a change, with the option to wear with a scarf if needed. Forgive the wrinkles-- it was shipped to me in one of those mailing bags. I love the color and the seam at the top-- but not 100% sure about the style and if it is the right size. When I first put it on I feel extra fab, but then get critical.

Also posted is a skirt. It is a woven rayon-poly blend that is stretchy and fully lined. I have a ponte seamed pencil which sits at my high waist that just doesn't go to work well, not enough ease and the fabric reads as too dressy. I'm trying to decide if this one is worth taking in through the hips---- this is something from my closet, I don't think I'm willing to invest in another skirt for work if this isn't worth altering, but I wouldn't mind experimenting with the fluid pullover, skirt, and booties look with hose or tights this winter. I wouldn't necessarily wear these two together.

This is the same belt from another post-- what do you think about the style for me? I love that the cutouts mimic designs on Acoma pueblo pottery (one of my specialties) but I'm wondering if it reads too girlie or western? It is more of a warm brown than cognac, as well.

Finally, the wristlet. It fits chapstick, my wallet, and my phone. I love the design on it, but don't know if it reads dressy or casual and am a bit concerned it is too small to look purposeful on fairly big me. The idea was something "me" that could be tossed in my work bag to transition for dates and gallery openings.

Bonus shot of an event I photographed at work on Saturday :)

And I apologize for the photos--- I'm really tight on space and the house is very dark and I'm having a devil of a time finding a good place to set up the tripod.
