Angie - don't you DARE feel awful! DS knew from the "get go" that I would not be keeping the pants if they didn't fit properly. He will not take this personally at all - nor will I. Besides, he did say he didn't want me to look "goofy"!

I had a suspicion they weren't right to the point that they are actually in the bag in the trunk of my car as we speak so that I can return them on the way home from work.

No wet noodle hitting required!

Thank you all for you great eyes - always appreciated!

Shannon I feel AWFUL saying that the fit of these trousers are not up to scratch because of the touching story that went along with it. :(. Too short, too roomy on the thigh, and just not modern looking.

I vote return and you can hit me with a wet noodle.

Not sure the alterations are worth it for these pants - taking in the thighs and then tapering down, plus shortening could end up costing more than the price of the pants. I may have just gotten caught up in that gorgeous colour to the point that I wasn't seeing the ill fit issues! Think I may have to return these - but DS said late last night that if "Angie and the girls" (that's what he called all of you!) didn't think they fit right that I could exchange them for something else at Winner's.

I don't think these pants do any justice to you fantastic figure. I find them too wide at the tights and perhaps a tad big in the waist ( I'm not sure if its the photo). I bet magic lady can alter these to perfection.

What a lovely story - so sweet of your DS.

I love the color and the idea of these pants. I have had similar fit issues so it's not your body it's the pants. WIth some tailoring they could work, but not sure if it's worth all that. Angie's advice to me on similar was to shorten the length. At this length they just look like they are supposed to be regular length, but are too short. I had my pink ones shortened to 2 inches above ankle as suggested and I think that works well.

Shannon your body is not misshapen, but I have a similar problem. I love the pants however I think they are too big in the upper leg area. I share this issue and often have this problem with pants in that they fit everywhere but there is too much fabric around the thigh area.

Unless you want to have them altered I think they are too big...sorry

I feel the same way about the fit of pants (you really don't have a misshapen body!), however when I was much younger and slender pants didn't fit me then either, but in a different way! I like these pants Shannon and the fit in the rear looks terrific! I also like the ease of fit in the legs. Your son is a sweetheart.

They don't look wide in the leg from the rear view - only slightly from the front (through the lower thigh and knee). It's not you - I have the same problem with pants.
It is possibly a very easy tailor - if you take them off, turn inside out and pin with safety pins you could see the difference maybe that a taper would make. Try it.

This is so sweet of your DS! Hug him from me for being such a sweetie to his mom!
As for the misshapen body: I have a different body type from you and have the same "misshapen body" thoughts when shopping for pants: why my thighs have to be so big compared to my hips and waist so if pants fit in thighs they are too big everywhere else!
See? They just don't know how to make trousers for women anymore!:-)
As for the red pants - can they be taken in a bit in the legs as they seem to fit everywhere else?

I like these a lot, especially with those adorable shoes! I'm unsure about the fit, so won't offer advice. If this fit issue is recurrent for you, maybe you need to factor in taking in the legs?

And I LOVED the story behind these. I have boys and the thought of them possibly growing up to be as sweet as your son sounds brings a tear to my eye.

See this is the problem with my misshapen body - I have a fairly large midsection so pants need to fit me there so I need to get a larger size but then my legs are smaller so that size is too big for my legs....aaaarrrrhhhhh...sooooooo frustrating!

My first reaction is that they seem a little wide in the legs for ankle pants. They do look like they fit really nice in the waist and rear, though.

DS asked if we could go to Winner's tonight so he could practice his driving and get underwear (they carry the brand he likes) so off we go. I'm browsing around while he's picking out his stuff (heaven forbid we be seen TOGETHER in the men's UNDERWEAR department!!!) and here were these saturated red ankle pants. I was holding them up and looking at them when he came back over to my side of the store and said "you should try those on Mom". I reminded him that I was on SYC when he said "well I'm not. I haven't got your Mother's Day present yet so if you like these, I could buy them for you as my present". I couldn't say no to either trying on the pants or to his smile of hope so off I went to the change room. They have since come home with me for a game of keep/return. I did tell DS that if they didn't meet with YLF approval regarding fit, I would have to return them. He said that was fine and didn't want me looking "goofy" anyway (lol)!

They are Larry Levine ponte knit with a seam down the front, welt pockets on the back and a nice wide waistband. I think they fit pretty well - the size down was waaaayyyy too tight. These are very comfortable at the waist and I like the somewhat relaxed fit of them. Let me know what you think about the fit - I'm holding my tee up so you can see the waist (not holding up the pants in case you were wondering). If the fit meets with approval, what about the length - leave as is or shorten?

Thanks for your guidance!
