Sylvie, I have the size 6. In the Halogen skirt, I got the size 6 (I had the same tummy bulge issues in the size 4 Halogen skirt). It sounds like we are the same size, so maybe you might do better in the size 6 if you can find one. I would try calling Neiman Marcus and see if they have any size 6 in stock. But I think your pics look fine, so as long as you're comfy and it isn't too restrictive, you could still wear the 4. I think the black top looks fine but you could also try putting on a more fitted structured jacket on top if you want to dress it up more and disguise the tummy. I hope you end up keeping it so we can be skirt twins!

Ack! I need to learn not to start threads late on a weekend night, as it seems I always get back too late to respond. I spent Sunday helping my cousin shop and then by the time I got back, I had to work on taxes (still not done - ick!)

Thank you so much for commenting!

@teeandcee: Great suggestions. A long tee and top (below) do help camouflage it.

@Claire: It's pretty restrictive, even as a midi. I don't think I'd be able to walk in it if it were a pencil. I might shorten it though - even an inch or two would help it be less overwhelming.

@Zapotee: I'm comfortable wearing it but I still get some horizontal creasing around the hip. I'm concerned that other people might think I'm trying to squeeze into clothes that are too small.

@goldenpig: Would you mind if I asked what size yours was? This is the 4, but I would ideally wear a 6. In the Halogen pencil skirt, I wear a 4 or 6P. I ordered this from Neiman Marcus but I don't know if they have an inventory system that lets them search their stores (or if it would even be available). And thank you, because I would never even have seen this skirt without you - I've been poring over your outfit posts with it.

Right now, I'm about five pounds above my norm and I think the skirt may fit a bit better when I lose them. I have 60 days to return this so I'm going to say I have to wear this out the door before the 60 days are up or it goes on the chopping block.

Here I'm wearing it with 3 inch heeled boots and a black top (please excuse the towel on my head post-shower) Does this work or do I need to get a rust colored or ink blue top to de-orphan it?

I found the thread where I was contemplating taking the skirt into a pencil shape and FWIW, Claire was one of the ones who convinced me not to!
http://goldenpig.lookfab.com/p.....midi-skirt

Do you have a similar peacoat or other jacket like #1 in my thread? I feel like it hides my belly pretty well.

I think the skirt is a good size, since I do prefer the snug fit on skirts as well. As far as the tummy issue, you can disguise it with a blazer or a top that is not too tight in the midsection. Is it comfortable?
I would not tailor it either

Syvie, I wouldn't suggest taking it in to a pencil skirt. I thought about doing the same with my skirt, but was advised to leave it A-line, and after wearing it I realized the fabric doesn't have much give and it would be too constrictive if it was made into a pencil skirt. It works best as an A-line. I would keep as is. And I don't think it looks too long on you--my eyes are totally readjusted to the midi length and this looks normal to me!

Hmmmm, it seems like the fabric is really heavy and stiff. I'm more used to seeing a snug fit like this in pencil skirts. If you really love it and want to keep it, I might suggest having it made into a midi-length pencil, instead of shorting it.

Having a belly myself I understand your dilemma, however, I love the skirt. I think you could disguise the belly issue easily enough with the top you choose if you really want to keep the skirt.

I personally don't think it overwhelms you, but I'm a huge fan of midi lengths and wear them all the time (I'm 5' 4"). Heels would definitely help with that issue.

Wow, love that you were able to track down this Tory Burch skirt! I think it looks great on you. It does look a little snug on the side view though. Is it comfortable, or does it feel tight on you? If it feels comfy and you really want to keep it, I wouldn't worry about the little belly (it's normal and tiny, really)--you can always wear with untucked top if you are self-conscious. But if it feels tight/restrictive, I would return.

I have a few pics of the skirt (including side views) in my K/R thread:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....tory-burch
Interestingly, you can see if I was holding it snug (because I initially thought it needed to be taken in to a pencil shape), then I got a bit more belly showing too (in #10). But in the natural state in #12, it looked smoother. So, I think you probably would have done better with the larger size. But since it's not available, you have to decide if it's worth it or is going to be too snug for you.

BTW I had the same problem with the Halogen pencil skirts. I felt like the size 4 (which is my usual size) hugged my body too much and showed off my buddha belly. So I sized up to a 6, which looks slightly big at the hips, but skims over my belly and I was more comfortable with that.

Good luck with your decision! Where did you order from? Did you call customer service to verify that they don't have the larger size? Sometimes they can locate some inventory in the local stores--I've done that before with Anthro and J Crew pieces that were sold out online but still were available in a few stores and they were able to tell me which branches still had them in stock so I could do a phone order.

I loved goldenpig's blue/rust skirt and I had to hunt down one of my own. Unfortunately they were down to only two sizes, and the larger size seems to be too small for me.

The pictures say it all, especially the side profile which highlights my, uh, natural, perfectly normal belly. Also, I think the length is overwhelming me since I'm petite, and the waistband is sitting too high making me look even more shortwaisted.

With a top covering the waistband, the skirt does look ok, so I wanted to check with YLF in case my judgement is wrong on this.

Thanks!
