Another fabber loving #2 -- so fresh and flattering! I like the other two, as well, and here's what is more important --- you seem to enjoy them, particularly #3. You're ready to defend it against slander, hee! I know part of it is because of the element we can't see -- movement. But I also think the dress must make you feel special -- and that's translates into the room, too. I think we behave differently and move differently when we're in a dress that floats about. It's lovely, and I say that even wishing the neckline were a bit more open, and the skirt a tad less fabric. Happiness factor gets the deciding vote!

Hmm, I truly appreciate all the feedback. The belt on dress #1 does not come out easily, it goes through grommets rather than traditional belt loops. I may return it and keep looking for something similar but longer. I like the pocket details and the sleeve length.

I'm questioning dress #3 also. I really don't NEED anything urgently so I can afford to wait for wardrobe items that look stellar. There are many comments about the neckline being unflattering, the skirt too full (my interpretation) and the proportions awkward. I think a dress should look good without the accessories. If I have to add accessories or cover up to make it work, isn't that a sign that something is wrong?

So, it looks like dress # 2 should stay.

Chiming in late to say I *adore* #2 on you. The cut is spot-on and colors are great for summer. Definite keeper.

#1 I have mixed feelings about. It looks like there's extra bulk in the torso? And I'm not a fan of the rope belt -- is it possible to swap it out for a different belt or sash?

#3 I *think* is a keeper, but I so desperately want to see it styled... a scarf, a topper, a big bold pendant...? It definitely needs something to make it come alive. I think those who mentioned it being a little on the dark side might be right. Maybe pair with lighter shoes and a white or ivory denim jacket!

Another fan on #2 for you. Not too dark at all ! I agree with the suggestions to lose the belt with the first dress and wear it with flats. It does look a little short to me but those changes would make it great for a weekend dress. Not a fan of the third one - but it's completely out of my style zone so nothing helpful from me on that one.

Hi SF --

My impressions --

#2 is a no-brainer. The colors read as "True Summer" to me but a) the overall impression is very light thanks to the white parts (which echo the tones in your hair) and b) I actually think you look great in that level of contrast.

#1 I like (minority!) but the rope belt does take it into juniors territory for me seems at odds with your usual casual preferences. Maybe a highly textured belt in one of your key neutrals or fav color-colors? Agree it'd be fun to wear as a tunic, too.

#3 looks a little prim, as fuller-skirted midis often do these days when they don't show upper chest (and I say that as someone who loves the swish of a full midi!). I can see why you were drawn to it.

For daytime I might try to add some light but dangly earrings or something that's a bit fun. I might also try a very narrow belt to make that area between bodice and skirt look a bit more "grown up" and set off your slender waist.

It all depends on your needs, but to my eyes, nr 2 is perefct, pls. KEEP!!! Can be dressed up and down and it is a great fit and length, with flattering colors and trendy floral!
Next is nr 3. looks like an easy but still very great dress but the neckline is a bit high. You can dress this when so inclined-also great for not showing that much of a cleavage when bending:-).
Nr 1 is very casual (the tie gives me pause a bit) and short- but you have great legs, and will be so very great with some flats or lower wedges!

Love # 1 for a versatile casual piece just the way it is. The perfect denim dress to my eye. #2 is unquestionably a keeper, totally flattering. #3 is the one I'm not as sure of, but as you say, it is difficult to get the whole picture from a still photo. Imo your body suits a shift style over a fuller skirt.

Great looks! I agree with all that #2 is a go! It is just lovely on you. I think the splashes of lightness really complement your tones. I really like #3. I must say I have only a couple of dresses in that style (I like the style of #2 for myself as well!) but I do feel they are lovely for a change. I can imagine how well it moves, too. I don't think you will regret it. #1 is a bit short for work, in my opinion. But I can really imagine it is as weekend workhorse.

Rachy, I kind of like #1 also. It's the best denim dress I've ever tried on IMHO. We could use some California sunshine and attitude here please!

I think I could wear dress #3 to work. Does it look too formal? I have a white cropped denim jacket I could put over the top, or a cropped leather jacket, or any number of cardigans and boleros.

Remember I don't have any sort of dress code or peer group to dictate how I look. My position is unique. I work in very a very casual setting where the staff often wear jeans, tee shirts or sweats. My clients have a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. My goal isn't to look strictly professional in a conservative way as much as to have a neat and stylish look that can identify me as having a professional role within the borders of my workplace, without making me look stiff and intimidating. That's why my style statement is Genuine Composed.

I'm definitely going to try Dress #1 without the white belt and with some flats. I won't have time until I get back from work today but I will repost pictures.

#2 ia definitely a keep. Looks lovely on you.
As for #1, I had to look past the fact that it's a denim dress (which I don't like) to see that it looks great on you, very relaxed-chic. I think you'll be able to wear it a lot.
Now, for #3, nothing wrong with it, it looks on the dressier side. Only, it sounds like YOU are not 100% sold on it...

But #2 and #3 look cool and are definite possibilities. #3 neckline isn't as graceful as the skirt sounds, so I wish it dipped a little bit or was a softer style, more femme.

1 would be nice for date night with your husband, or for a casual party. It looks too short for work.
2 is fabulous for anything. Really great.
3 isn't bad, but is kind of body con. If that doesn't bother you, then it would be okay for almost anything. I'm not sure about work, but maybe it would be okay with a short denim jacket.

# 1 is an inch or so shorter than I like for drape as a dress on its own-- not a " decency " thing, but the top and bottom halves are , halves. I do like the suggestions for flats and a different belt as better for this style. I keep forgetting about the leeway for casual dress looks compared to more professional situations.

I like the second and third dresses on you, and find both shapes and lengths flattering.

Gregg's next addition to the forum should be the ability to add a brief video clip so we can show movement! Most clothes look different in motion on a person as opposed to still in a photograph. Dress #3 is a great example. When I look at pictures of fashion shows I always like to watch a video clip of the runway model walking in the clothing as well as look at the still photo. If I don't like how an item looks in motion, I pass on the style.

My favorite is also #2 (which is gorgeous on you!), and I really like Angie's ideas for #1. It would be great over cropped jeans! #3 looks like a lot of dress for your slimness, but it may be that the ethereal nature is not translating so much, as you noted.

In the first dress is it the rope that's the problem or is it the high contrast of the white rope compared with the denim? I have low to medium contrast coloring so I wondered if that throws things off?
