Amiable - just knowing what I know of your style - I also vote for you to hold out for a different (maybe Fryes?) boot. Also, you are trying too hard to talk yourself into these! That's a 'sign' that they aren't the ones. Hold out for a pair that you just absolutely FALL in LOVE with - HARD - like you get all trembly inside when you think about them! They are out there. Just remember, you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince!!!

Well, I wore them for an hour this morning and decided that they're going back - the widest point of the toe box is at the wrong spot for me, and where the ball of my foot is, it's too narrow. It hurt and made my toes numb.

But I did find a local retail store (Dillards) who is supposed to carry Frye. So I'll be paying them a visit - both to check out the leather they use, and to find what would be my proper size. I think I probably should have went with my normal size in MizMooz, rather than size down a half size.

Okay, so after showing them to my husband, he's thinking that I'm more reacting to feeling like I spent *so* much money than that there's something less than ideal about the boots.

He points out that the leather is reasonably substantial - if it were thicker, it would feel stiff and chaff my legs.

And, knowing myself and my issues with money, I suspect he's right. So I'm going to keep them for a couple of days and see if they grow on me.

I really appreciate your input :)

And I think I'm going to find out if any of our local stores carry Frye for me to try on...

Hang in there for a better pair. I have been looking (not actively, I admit) for 2 years, trying to find boots that fit my skinny calves. That aren't $600 plus. If you find any that would fit 12.75" calves please PM me! I like a proper fitted calf and most boots are 15" or even bigger.

So i'm a lover of gaps when wearing boots but I also mostly lust after a stiffer, moto style. That said, if they don't make you feel like a totally awesome, booty whooping superhero, back they go. I tried on maybe 35 pairs of boots until I found the perfect ones last week. It is worth it to keep trying.

They are lovely, but I vote return too. You can get a boot that has a very small gap that will play well with skirts and pants. Your closet and you deserve the right boots. You aren't in love with these and they don't multitask the way they should, so don't settle. Return them.

I agree, return them. There's something better out there, I'm sure! And even if you have to save up to a pair - better to wait a bit than to have the wrong boots. When I bought my first tall black boots after joining YLF I had to search for a while too. But I really wore the ones I got to death in the last two years, so it was worth it.

I second cinnamon fern. You should LOVE these and be excited to wear them. Sounds like you are not.

That said, I don't think these will work with skirts or dresses. They look fine with jeans, though.

Yes, they're comfy (just a tiny bit snug, but leather can grow a bit, so I'm not concerned about that, and my feet are usually not too picky as long as I keep a low heel)

Fit aside, they don't feel that special to me. They're not as rugged feeling as my other boots are (the ones that I got free used). I'm torn between not wanting to keep saving and looking for something that seems truly rugged, and knowing that these are probably certainly passable.

I'm likely to wear them with pants more than skirts - I don't often wear skirts, and when I do, it's generally summer, and I probably won't be wanting BLACK boots for that pairing anyway. So they're more likely to be styled with pants.

The gap is fairly big on bare legs, but looks good with your scrunchy jeans. I guess it depends on what you see yourself wearing them with most. I do really love the look of the boots.

My Miz Mooz boots arrived!

I'm not as excited about them as I expected, but I do like them. Unfortunately, I had lots of volunteers to take pics, and my ten-year-old son has no where near the steady hand of his younger sister who usually takes them. So most of the pics are blurry.

But here they are anyway, the calves are a bit big, but not bad with jeans tucked in.
I'm including pics with a skirt to show the gap, and with my skinny jeans tucked in. I already buckled the buckles their tightest, and there's a tiny bit of room to punch another hole, but not much, and it would cause the elastic band in the back to bunch.

I don't know what to look for fit-wise (other than this gap). Can you tell from these pics whether they work for me and how they fit? If now, I'll take better pics later.

What do you think? I think they could work, but I'm not convinced they're perfect either... But I also trust your opinion (especially on fit) over mine. So Thanks in advance!
