Thanks everyone! I'm going to try on again with blousier tops tucked in, but I think I'm keeping. Well-fitting jeans with a unique hem and comfortable high rise are basically a unicorn for me, and it will open up options for slightly cropped, boxy tops (a category currently unrepresented in my wardrobe, but now I'm intrigued).

Proportion twin! I'm 5'4" with a 28" inseam (for full length jeans).

I find that higher rises are great on me (when they don't squish my tummy too much) because they even out my proportions.

I agree with people that a looser, slightly cropped top would look flattering and current with the jeans.

Those jeans really fit you. Buy! And echoing Angie, what you need on the top is more volume.

LOVE the jeans. You need a blousey and roomy tucked or semi tucked top for the high rise jeans. The top here is too tight for the jeans, IYKWIM. (Firecracker demonstrates it well).

YOU ARE SUPER CUTE.

They look really good on you -- and I'm with Firecracker on the tucking issue with a higher waist. It can actually be lengthening for short legged types like us if we can figure out a way to do it.

I think they look great on you. I love them with the top and bomber. Super cute. I don't notice that you have a long torso but I would think a high rise jean would work well on a long torso.

shiny, my inseam is 29" with flat shoes on, more like 28.5" for skinnies. And I'm 5'2 1/2" tall... all the height comes from my torso. You should try these if they come available in your size!

Thanks for the detailed styling suggestions so far. I adore these jeans on you, Firecracker. They don't hit quite as high on my short legs but I think the length still works.

I really like them on you, KL! I'm biased, since I bought them myself, and I had another pair of Insider Crop jeans already, but with a plain hem rather than the step hem. I like them with your top fully tucked, and I also like the way you're wearing them with the top out and the new bomber jacket. I like to semi-tuck a flowy top with them and wear them with high-vamped footwear, especially with a little heel. Once I got used to a higher rise, I found myself wearing tops untucked or tucked with them, without really thinking too much.
Here's a photo I took of mine, with a new shirt and oxfords I got at NAS, and I quite like the effect. I think wearing a tucked top that can be bloused a bit over the waist is an easy way to get used to tucking tops with them.

When you say you have short legs, what is your inseam? I've eyed those myself but I'm 5'0 with 28 inch inseam so I've been dubious. My ideal rise is 9 inches, 10 might be too long for me. So curious minds want to know!

You seem to have a long torso so I am going to suggest maybe a top that is cropped, as in skirt length? Covering the waist band but not as long as the top you show here. Between the tucked in version and the untucked version.

I think they look good fully tucked, and your butt looks good in these KL! :-)
You could start with a semi-tuck and graduate to a full tuck once you are feeling more confident with the look.

Does SO have an opinion?

I really like the adidas jacket.

It's been a successful NAS for me in the toppers and knitwear departments (less so in footwear, but you can't have everything). However, I'm still undecided about these Mother jeans. Here are some slightly-better pics - my SO took them from his computer and refused to get up to retake against a white wall, unfortunately, so you get a glimpse of my messy house.

Pic #3 is how I would probably style, with an untucked top. Bonus: the backordered floral Adidas track jacket arrived today, and I love it! Fit is surprisingly slim and petite-friendly. I know this jacket has been sold out since forever but maybe there will be popbacks since it runs a little small.

Really, I need advice on how to style high-rise jeans! I don't think they are flattering on me with a fully tucked top as in photos #1/2. My favorite kind of pant fit is a high back rise and a low (8") front rise; these Mother jeans are great in the back but the 10" front rise has me flummoxed. They're amazingly not uncomfortable as I tend to associate with high rise bottoms, but I feel like there must be something more I can do with them besides covering up the rise... I have a long torso and all of my button-downs and blouses, fitted for my normal denim preferences, are too long to just half-tuck in the front.

What I do like about the jeans: very comfortable, flattering back view, cool hem detail that is actually short enough for my short legs. I'm neutral on the even blue wash.

Keep or return? If keep, how should I style these jeans?
