It does make sense, thanks, Angie and Suz! I guess I just haven't found the right bootie for me and the skirts have been too long as others have suggested. I will return these and try again. Thanks so much

Suz, I really thought it was the skirt that was off, but I saw your outfit and Shannon's, and you both are wearing pencil skirts with booties so beautifully. Maybe it's the length too. I don't know. I definitely need to experiment more! Thanks for all the information and putting up with all the questions!

No- they should work okay with a pencil skirt. The length of the skirt matters...and actually, it often helps if the bootie is really snug to the ankle. I have two types - the Reports, which are wide...I actually like these best with rolled jeans, on me, but I do wear them with skirts, too, and much prefer with a slim skirt. I also have my DV jousts which are higher on the ankle and snug - I like these with a pencil skirt, knee length. And my black booties are the Seibel Callas, snug at the ankle...those work with lots of skirts and dark tights.

It depends a lot on the shape of your legs, i suspect. So it may involve some experimentation.

Jayne, I think you're right. It's the pencil skirt that is throwing me. I think these will go back and the search continues!

Elle, thank you for the link! I will have to study it.

I love 7 & 8. I like the slipper flats too but if there isn't a hole for black flats then I agree with Angie. I like the booties but not with that skirt & no hose. Either black hose or a shorter skirt would look better I think. See Angie's post here

just chiming in to say that I think the booties that work best with skirts have a wider opening at the top near th ankle. the reports have that. This means they don't work so well under slacks but can be used for tucking in skinny legs. I have struggled myself to find some but I accidently bought a bootie similar to the report in black and my BF loved it when I wore it with a Aline skirt dress. I haven't seen many wearing booties, except for the most feminine kind (lower height, higher heel) with pencil skirts. I would love a bootie inspiration that worked with pencil skirts, at a low heel, myself!

Suz, I have tried my old Clarks with skirts. I feel like the new ones are more streamlined than the old ones but they are still loose at the ankles. I also tried dark hose with the booties and the gray skirt. The pictures were too horrible to post so I deleted them!!! I think with a darker skirt it *maybe* would have been ok.

You're right, ultimately, I don't have to wear booties with skirts and it may just not be for me. I will have to experiment with hosiery, leggings and different shapes of skirts and dresses to see. Thank you so much!

Love your cute pumps! I hope they will be comfy enough for you.

Going back to your original Clark's booties...have you tried those ones with a skirt/dress? Are they too loose around the ankle? Unless my mind is playing tricks, those ones looked more streamlined than these? But I may be mistaken.

And did you try with darker hose, toned to the booties/ skirt? This might help your eye adjust. In the end, though, if if doesn't feel right to you, it doesn't feel right. There is no law saying that you HAVE to wear booties with a skirt!

Having said that, I am glad I got over my initial aversion to the look on myself. I still think I need to be much more careful than one of our long and slender-legged sisters here, but I like to be able to wear it sometimes anyway even if it is less figure flattering than pumps.

Angie, Thank you for your input! Here is a full length picture with the booties. I think you're right about the flats. I'm not very creative in my shoes choices. Red shoes are a recent purchase for me much less patterns! I will return these and maybe look for ones that are more fun!

Donna, I don't have skirts that are much shorter ... just an orangey-red one that is slightly above the knee. But maybe a fuller skirt would work better?

You might try the booties with a shorter skirt. Angie had a blog on that quite awhile ago.

I LOVE the pumps!

I vote return the black slipper flats, and get a pair in a fun pattern or colour.

The booties are very nice! It's hard for me to see whether they will work with skirts without seeing the entire outfit.

The booties from Clarks are likely going back since they are so similar to my old pair. See post here for details.

1-4. I went by DSW to look for another pair and came home with these. They are a little more fitted in the ankle area which I like, but are they still too similar? I am still not convinced that I can pull off the booties/skirt combo but maybe I'm looking at the wrong type of boots.

5-6. While I was there, I found these Liz Claiborne slipper flats that were on sale and they came home with me too. Are these too boring? I have lots of black shoes but not many flats.

7-8. Also found these Soffft pumps. They have about a 2 1/2 inch heel which is too high for me but they are pretty comfy for being that high.

I saw these booties http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/s.....ent=FEMALE that are similar to the Report Marks that many people have but didn't bring buy. Maybe I need to go in this direction with booties instead?

I feel really lost in this ankle boot search. I would like to find booties that I can wear with skirts or skinnies but I am just not feeling this look on me so far. Any thoughts are suggestions are very much appreciated!
