Thanks ladies!

Shiny, you are right, I need to get used to the look on myself. I really adore the look on everybody here.

Rae, you and Suz were definitely inspirations for me to get a report look a like. Love how you style them!

And I was so caught up in the keep/return that I missed my first K rating from Angie! Squeeeee! Thank you so much for boosting my confidence

Nice finds. I think the skirt is great and you have done some terrific experimenting with it. I agree that the right belt could make all the difference. I like fuller skirts with fitted tops, or with a cardigan and belt - worn over or under the cardi. I'm short waisted too and find coloured skinny belts really handy for finishing off an outfit.

Those taupe booties are in no way stumpifying, not when worn with bare legs. I think your eye just has to get adjusted to the look.

Your booties and skirt are great finds. You can certainly wear a fuller skirt. they seem easiest to wear when, like yours, the top part is fitted, then it flares out lower. I especially like versions 9, 11 and 12.

Thanks for all the styling tips, ladies! Big, big thanks to suz and Krish for the seibel recommendation! I have tried on dozens of booties and almost settled on a pair that were ok but not perfect. So glad that I held out. The "ok" pair are on their way back to amazon on Monday!

I wasnt sure about the school girl look, well because it looks like a school girl. While I like the look, is it too juvenile for a 37 year old professional?

Suz, you are spot on about sal and her proportions. I am short waisted so I am wearing the skirt a little below my natural waist to try to elongate my torso. I will try belting as you and Jenava suggested.

Shiny, I'm dipping my toes into the bootie with skirt look. To me, the taupe boot make me look stumpy like many of the black bootie rejects did. I will try it out with the skirt. Thanks for the suggestion!

Makrame, here is a link at DSW. These are for brown boots, but in store I found the taupe ones. With an insert they aren't too bad.

I love both pairs of booties. Very tempted to go and search for the taupe pair. The skirt looks great, especially in 10 and 12.

You've already got some good comments, may I just add that I love the taupe booties?? I'd totally wear those with skirts/dresses. Why do you think you can't? What I love is how they are loose to make your ankles look slender, without being either too tall or too sloppy looking -- as can happen with such booties, for those of us who are petite. They are perfectly to scale. LOVE!

Try with the Loft skirt. I think they'd work just fine!

The black booties are great with skirts! Agree that the taupe ones are probably better with jeans (skinny jeans tucked in would be cute).
I like all of the stylings of the skirt, although I think the color of the cardi in #12 could be more saturated color-wise.

It also might be fun to pop a wide elastic belt at the top of the skirt?

I am humbled to have been an inspiration!

It's kind of funny, since last year at this same time I had never worn booties in my life!!

Also, we need to credit Krishnidoux, who was the one to suggest the Siebel booties to me. She is petite and found they worked well on her own frame so suggested them to me. I bought them and was delighted! They are nice and lightweight, SUPER comfortable, and they work with trousers and skirts alike. I think they are especially great on people who are short in stature or who have a small frame.

I ADORE #11. LOVE that schoolgirl look!!

The reason #11and #12 come closer to your inspiration, I think, is the placement of the waist. Sal's skirt either sits at her natural waist, or her top (which nips in at her natural waist) makes it seem that way. Your skirt seems to sit a bit lower, maybe not quite as low as trousers would, but lower than your natural waist. So to look like Sal, you need a topper (jacket or cardigan) that nips in at your actual waist. OR, you could try a longish top, and belting at your natural waist over the top.

The other think I noticed about her look is that she is wearing a high neck wide neck T. This stretches her shoulder line a bit to equal her hips visually. You may not need to do that; I think in her case, she is an hourglass with pear tendencies so is doing it to balance her figure.

Elle, this skirt is a petite, so maybe an inch shorter than regular size. Even then, it will probably end up being just at or above the knee. I'm trying to copy Sal from Already Pretty, and she usually has hers above the knee.

(1-4) These are Josef Seibel that Suz had recommended. Thanks, Suz!! They are sooooo comfortable! I'm looking to wear them with skirts/dresses and pants. They are more fitted around the ankle thanks to the strap. What do you think?

(5-6) I also bought these taupe colored booties (Suz, you are really rubbing off on me!) at DSW. The brand is R2 which I think is a sister company of Report since they look a lot like the Report Marks that many here have. Not as comfortable but with coupons they were about $25. I wore them out to dinner last night. Even if they are not great for skirts, I can wear them with pants.

Speaking of skirts, I ordered this one from the Loft. I have a lot of pencil skirts, so I wanted to try a fuller skirt. I'm just not sure what kind of tops to wear it with. This is my problem with fuller, patterned skirts. They become orphans because I don't know what to wear it with. Here are some examples of what I tried. Do any of these work or should I just stick with my pencil skirts?

Thanks for looking!
