Thanks ladies for giving it to me straight and giving me a lot to think about. It comes to this. I think I am between sizes, I really would need a 40.5 and this shoe only comes in 40 or 41 so no matter how much I love the way they funkify my classic pieces they will never be that comfortable for me and thus wont get the wear I would like. I learned this from Angie's post this morning where she said she'd be enjoying the boots she adored on others b/c of this same issue. Thanks again fabbers for taking the time to give your feedback. I ALWAYS appreciate it mucho!

So when DH texted me asking if I wanted to try to catch some live music downtown after he was off work I immediately tried to think of an outfit to wear these with. I ended up using my better judgement and didnt but.... it was telling perhaps. Team Wear!

Thanks Mona, and Shedev!

Diana, I appreciate your keen eye for things. I noted the symmetry but feel ok with it. I will need to decide how I feel about the menswear cut... poisoned perhaps be the fact that for years I did indeed wear mens shoes (flat black monkstraps) and blundstones so not my most fashionable days!

Claire, my lack of stylist is why my hair is so long... I cant figure what or who i want so it just keeps growing.... It looks super thick which looks good to me b/c it is damaged by chlorine. As long as you dont touch it and realize it feels like straw all is well!

Rae, thanks for chiming in! I am glad you located these originally and started this mess :)

Ornella, I do plan to sleep on the decision. Sage advice!

I like them, they look great, they work with your wardrobe and they don't look long to me.

But, these are the shoes you'll be wearing for hours and the last thing you want is to be bothered by what's on your feet. Sleep over it and you'll probably be wiser in a day or two.

Just chiming back in with a comment on the look of the long front. I have shiny silver oxfords that have a pointed and long toe. I often wear them with narrow pants so it does emphasize it. When I first got them, they did look really long to me, which they are, because no one's foot ends in a point like that! But I've gotten used to it and I get so many compliments on them, that I'm now just fine with the elongated front.

One other thought, I don't think you need this shoe to work with every single top. It's an unusual color so not one you would wear on a daily basis. I think they work well with plenty of your wardrobe.

I like them and I think they go with most of these outfits. The long toe box thing is a typical menswear style, all men's oxfords seem to have that shape. It's up to you whether or not you like it.

OK,so I may be the only person who is bothered by this, but... I actually don't like how they are so symmetrical at the front. Like, how both of them have that turquoise stripe, and it's a very symmetrical turquoise stripe. I expect a pattern like this to be more organic and not so regular, so I want it to be more "blobby" and also not identical on both shoes.

Yes, GP....I saw Rae's post on it not but 5 minutes after I ordered them of course! I did try walking in them a bunch around on the carpet and watched how I placed my toe (I lift them fairly prominently when I walk) but I had a pair of boots years ago that would trip me occasionally and drive me nuts. Eventually the soft gum sole at the toe of the boot worn down on them and they became a favorite though so I am torn.

Glory, you have some good points. Looking for variation between pairs is a good consideration. Althoough I may regret not keeping these if the next pairs is different i a way I like less. I suppose that could be a "meant to be" fate will decide if I need the shoe. LOL! On the other hand... these work very well with my bottle green moto which didnt get as much wear as i hope after i purchased it last year b/c i found it harder to style than anticipated. They also work well with my taupe blazer where I tried on and took off at least 5 times last year b/c i felt like my neutral shoes were too boring and my leopard loafers were not a good match for the brown tones. There is a lot to consider here and I appreciate you weighing in. I think it boils down to me figuring out if I want to branch out from my color scheme or not. And I really appreciate you helping me come to that realization.

Biscuitsmom, these are a 41. So a 10 I believe. I'd be interested to know if you have found you get a lot of wear from these (find them easy to style) and also what you find the fit to be like if you have the 40. I htink a 40.5 would be ideal for me but alas they dont make 1/2 sizes. If you do have the 41, relatively unworn, some pic could be great if you have time.

Thanks AviaMariah. I did a great shoe purge about 2 years ago and am trying to purchase very carefully now! :)

I am going to be the "wet blanket" as others call it.
You mentioned that your foot feels/looks long in these. I do not think so however perhaps it is because of the way the colour has a more pronounced line across the front. Also, you were hoping to get more pinks and purples.
My question - if the shoe were more pink/purple and didn't have the line of pronounced colour across the foot bed, would you be happier?
Perhaps hold out for the colour you prefer? If each pair is unique, maybe you could re-order and see how the colours are on the next pair?

So... ever since Rae unveiled this as her fairy godmother shoes I've been hoping my fairy godmother would send me a pair. I picked up a few unexpected hours of consulting and decided I was perhaps my own fairy godmother and placed an order. I got them yesterday and for the first time took Angie's advice to take them for a spin in my closet before making my final decision.

On the pros:
1. I have a love of aviation and space and find them super cool from the idea standpoint
2. They seem like a statement shoe that brings a fresh funky tone (suiting my arty ecclectic side while still feeling sophisticated) to my more classic pieces (for reference all the rest of my closed toe shoes/boots are in #27)
3. Match made in heaven with my bottle green moto (5,18) and silver leather jacket (9), unorphaned my taupe brooks bros blazer(#23)
4. They are very well made, plenty wide, have a very flat sole which is good for my fussy feet
5. I can wear socks with them (which i identified as a hole last winter)
6. I walked in them quite comfortably all over the house for 30 minutes and didnt exp. any toe trips (... yet...)

One the cons:
1. I had pictured them as more a blend of pink/gray/blue/green/yellow blend but the green/yellow are most prominent. My wardrobe has more blues/purples/fuschia and I am not sure if the shoes require bookending or work as a stand alone. I thikn they stand alone with gray/white/black... but with other colors? I dont think they work with the bubblegum pink or lavendar tops. Do they work with cobalt?
2. They make me feel like my feet look very long (they are a very long shoe b/c of how the toe box gets pointed at the end -- MY LARGEST CONCERN, I am paranoid about my big feet since some stupid story in our 5th grade reader about a girl with feet as small of deer hooves ... what story was that?)
3. The narrow part of my instep by the laces are almost touching barefoot so if they stretch much they may be hard to fasten down when barefoot (the size down is sold out everywhere I've looked, and I think would pinch my toes when wearing socks)

What do I need to think about that I havent mentioned here?
I dont want to make a wardrobe orphan. This is a K/R ALL thoughts appreciated
