And the answer is… I need better photos! I don't know how you ladies manage to take such great photos - surely I can't be the only person in a small apartment without good light and no full length mirror.

JR: I will get a photo with the back zipper…and with feet.

Sara: #2 just isn't look as fab on me as it did on others in the forum. The color usually works for me but perhaps my shoulders aren't strong enough to carry the cut off.

Suz: Thank you for adding that last bit as I was starting to feel a little down about myself - what's so wrong with me that nothing looks good? With #1, the drape neck is great but there is some weirdness around the hips that isn't alleviated by tucking.

Makrame: I wanted to wear #3 and #4 with skinnies and leggings, so I thought they would be good lengths for that. I could use some of my "free" Nordstrom alterations budget to get #4 hemmed.

I am going to enlist the husband's opinion, as he is usually pretty good about this stuff and in person it is easier to see color/movement. Also, I'll try to find a setup to get better photos - will try to find a full length mirror.

Thanks ladies! (It's times like this I really hate shopping)

To me, 3 and 4 look too long, except that #3 with the leather jacket looks wonderful. But wouldn't you want to wear it as a standalone top, too?

I like the color of the back-zip sweater on you and would be curious about the back and side view.

I like #1 but am not sure how fussy that neckline is going to be.

Suz makes a very good point. Do try to include your feet in photos. It truly makes a difference in evaluating line and proportion.

Hmm. This is tough!

I would love to see the back of the OM sweater, since as JR says, the back view is so crucial with that one.

I understand your hesitations about #1. I have a drape neck dress that sort of drives me batty. It just looks weird...to me. In my case I think it really IS weird (because of my proportions) but on you I actually quite like the drape. But if it doesn't feel good, out it goes.

#3: It feels too long without a jacket, but I like it with the jacket. And I am wondering if my perception of the length is affected by the fact that your feet got cut off in the pic. It may be better IRL.

#4 feels long to me too. I LOVE the colour but I am unsure of the proportions.

ARgh. WHY is top shopping such a mare, as Angie would say???

I'm iffy on #1, but really like #3 and #4. I'm not sure about #2 - it seems sort of plain although the color is pretty.

I like them precisely in reverse order. #1 doesn't seem to work with your proportions at all, #2 is fine but not wonderful, but if you like the colour a lot, it could be worth it. A rear-view photo would help, seeing as the back detail is so important with this one. I'm not the greatest fan of argyle, but #3 is not too bad. I wonder a bit about the pattern placement, but with a jacket it's great.

And I just like #4, but then I'm a sucker for button-down or henley tunics. And blue. Would love to see it with dark wash jeans.

Still trying to build up the long sleeved top wardrobe. From my previous post, I ended up keeping (and wearing!) the diagonal red/orange top and the Foxcroft denim shirt recommended by Angie. I returned the bandage top and the blue/black Caslon drape neck top because I wouldn't wear either of them out the door.

On to the new contestants!

1) Caslon drape neck top in teal stripe and orange. Looking at the photos, they just look lumpy/weird.

2) The purple OM sweater finally came back in stock and I snagged one. There's a bit of bum cupping with the zipper but not enough to annoy me. Is it a problem that it hits me at a wide part?

3) Argyle sweater. Even though it's like a tunic or sweater dress on me and has an uneven hem, I like it. I like it so much, I had to mimic the ridiculous model pose for you. Modelling is hard work - I don't know how models contort their bodies in such weird ways.

4) Brushed silk Equipment shirt. It is a bright blue/aqua - not teal at all. The fabric is *really* nice and for some reason the bum flap isn't bothering me. Maybe my eyes have adjusted after the Nexx shirts.

Right now I'm leaning towards returning #1, undecided on #2 and keeping #3 and #4.

Thanks in advance!
