One is a dressy statement jacket that can remix well with casual items. The other is a casual outdoor jacket for fall weather. I would wear it outdoors in fall, and also possibly indoors as a cardi alternative in cold winter weather. I mean, think of Rachy and her puffers. The new jacket looks fine for wearing at home, whereas the old jacket looks far smarter and something to wear to work - not really a casual weekend jacket. If you want something to replace your old jacket, the JCrew "Going Out Jacket" in Snowy Tartan looks like a better replacement. Omg, I can absolutely see what everyone is saying about the one you own! It is great. The new one looks as good on you as it is on the model. The single button isn’t doing either of you any favors, but when you I unbutton it, I think the jacket is too long on you. You seem to have ideas about when/how you wear the new one. I’m not seeing them. To me, this looks like something you’d wear under your regular wool or trench coat to add a layer of warmth. This is more outerwear(ish), but I was thinking it would/could also work as an inside jacket. jcrew was 50% off cyber week and after much dithering I ordered it. And now I’m not sure. I’m interested in your thoughts—-what do you think on fit? On function?
