Okay, more jacket pics on the way soon. I visited another H&M, which had a few more options in stock. Still pretty sure that none are my magical avant-garde jacket, but at least a couple of them are fun options to keep me sane until the perfect one shows up.

@Anna, thanks so much for the links! Super fun. First two are too long for me. I notice that I feel really good in and really like shorter, hip length jackets. I'm not super tall. Also, I was lovin' the glam rock gold bomber, even if it wasn't for me. I'm a Bowie girl, but that's bolder than I am! You totally rock the gold. I'm not so bold and fun, even if I secretly want to be. Also, the Neiman Marcus/Haider Ackerman jacket you linked me to earlier arrived yesterday. Too darned small. Sadness. Also, oddly, I thought it had a leather second piece to it, but when it showed up it was basically a jacket with the bottom half cut off, raw edge on the bottom seam, but finished edge on the lining, so intentional, but not what I expected. Sheesh! Look at how much help you've given me! You are fabulous!

@Una, it's out there. I want to believe....

Thanks all for the ideas everyone--keep 'em coming!

I like the curvy, shorter aspects of this jacket on you and, yet, Una has some good advice here. Don't settle until you've found the right one.

I actually prefer it closed more, too. The shoulders look like they fit well, but even open, I think a size up might be better. Worth a try as that jacket has lots of potential!

Totally agree, Una! I'm thinking of this as an additional piece, just for fun. That avant-garde jacket is out there, waiting for me, somewhere. This isn't it, but I'm thinking of this as a brief fling rather than true love.

I like it open but I always pass up jackets that do that on me when closed. Which is a lot of jackets, since i'm a rectangle through the middle and jackets are usually cut for someone with a waist.

I think you are on the right track herer but not sure this is it. It's worth finding the perfect jacket - it took me decades, believe me.

The jacket is super cute! But does not fit buttoned up. What does it look like unbuttoned? That could work :)

I like this jacket much more than the navy leather jacket that was too long in the sleeve and not that flattering on the neck and front.

Thanks, ladies. There is very very slight pulling when I have it buttoned, but it is definitely made much worse from my angle while I'm trying to take the photo, especially when I was twisted around to take a photo of the flounces on the side. I feel like any pulling will resolve as the jacket warms up. Also, none at all when it is open, which more than likely is how I will wear it most often. I'm worried that sizing up, if possible, will make the shoulders too big, but I'll check out that option. Next size up was out in the store when I bought it.

I love the silhouette. You look curvy (in a good way!) In fact, I'm going to go look at this jacket for myself (rectangle also).

Does it feel as though it pulls a bit at the front button? I cannot tell if that is because you have your arm out to take a photograph.

I vote Yay! if no pulling.

I like the style of the jacket. It looks like it is straining at the button but I can't tell if that's from the way you're leaning for the photo maybe. Did you try a size up and confirm it was too big?

I'm still searching for my avant-garde jacket. However, today while I was in H&M returning a top, I spied, tried and buyed this jacket. It struck me as very Nanette Lepore.

I was thinking it would be a fun jacket to wear with skinny jeans and more feminine shoes, like my red peep toes, maybe as a date night outfit with the hubbs. The fabric is very slightly stretchy and very comfortable.

How does the fit look? I'm liking that it looks very hour-glassy, since I'm a rectangle. Sorry that I forgot to take a picture of it unbuttoned. It looks less restrictive unbuttoned, but it's also a little less curve making. Back looks good--no straining.

Should I keep it (yay)? Return (nay)?
