If only there was an option in burgundy or deep purple, I surely would consider them. Even grey. But I can't make that shade of blue work! :(

I'm happy that I am learning to see my future -fashion-wise lol. It wasn't that easy for me to recognize a potential orphan some years ago!

Irene, I totally understand! I find black footwear so much easier to work with. It sounds like you will get a lot more use out of the black ones. I say well done for recognizing your needs and remaining PPP!

Irene, I am late to this thread (for some reason I didn't see it). I want to say, first, that you look amazing in those boots and they seem as if they will fit well with your style, and second, if you couldn't work with the colour, it was smart to return them and wait for the black! Especially when you are young and on a tight budget, items that seem fun to others but a bit frightening to you can end up being expensive orphans and lead to guilt and worry. When you can add a SECOND pair of boots, some in a fun colour would be wonderful.

ETA: I went back to the store today and returned the boots. It was
just too much work for me. I could deal with the roughness of the style
but the color killed me. As beautiful as the greenish blue was, it
worked with no bottoms in my wardrobe, except for my black pants (and
tights). I just can't spend 100 euros in a pair of boots I can wear only
with black. And I know, I know, so many people would pair that color
with so many other colors, but I am not those other people, I am myself,
and I know myself well enough to accept that I just can't get past too
many color combos that are commonly liked by the rest of the population
but not by me (like, say, black and dark brown). And I have too many
shoes that were supposed to work with everything but they didn't, and
they have gone unworn.

The good thing is, it seems like they are ordering the same style in
black, and they are to call me when they get them so that I can go and
see. SA said they have a glossy finish that will take away some of the
darkness of the color (not patent though). Hopefully these will work for
me in black. I'm planning on maybe getting some colored laces (like,
say, teal? lol) to add just a tad of easy fun to the combo.

Can't wait for the black boots to come!

PS: I think I have ten more days to think about it!

PS2: The skirt's hem hits at a perfectly flattering point, which slims down the leg. I am an Hourglass but feel like an IT at heart, hence my interest in emphasizing my bottom half.

I absolutely love these boots; I think they would look quite lovely with the skirts you have paired them with (both pencil shape and the more flared look of #4). I think that they would work well with the other style reference pictures you have provided to.

It's so hard to find boots that fit and are so comfy! I had second thoughts about my Doc Martens (Style: Vanna) but I'm so glad I couldn't return them because I've worn them to pieces (literally!)

Perhaps these boots are a style agitator --- an item that shakes loose new possibilities. My BF jeans were such an item. The jeans themselves are new favorites, but it didn't come easily (took even longer for Shannon, who had serious boyfriend issues). The benefit? I've discover multiple new silhouettes by seeing my current wardrobe items in a new light.

I say keep -- don't buy multiples --- but keep and challenge yourself to try new ways to wear them. If you don't like them after a year, resell them or gift them and move on.

Oh, wow. I like them and I'm not usually big on that kind of boot. I think you've got the youth advantage in which you can rock the shorter skirt, which gives a good proportion with the mid-leg boot. I'm partial to not having a lot of pale leg with black mid boots so I love the sheer tights--lengthens the leg but not as heavy as an opaque black tight and so contrasts just enough with the boot silhouette to show it off, plus is great feminine-masculine juxtaposition.

I LOVE the look you've styled; the play of the super femmey tights with the taller, more rough 'n tumble look of the boots is really nice. It's a lovely play to the current trend of 90s revivalism, and you've done a really nice job bringing it into your self-described "princess" look. Kudos!

Ok, so maybe it's all in my head. Guess I have a hard time seeing the roughness in me! lol I really like this sort of look on others, maybe it is that I'm not used to mid-calf boots (I usually go for tall) plus thick soles and less seen color, all together.

I've been described as a 'doll' and a 'princess' (because of my soft features and manners) so some toughness to my look wouldn't harm me (I already have that in my personality).

Thanks to the four of you, I'll keep trying!

I so don't want to feel like this given the fact that:
A) These are really, really comfy. As in 'these boots are meant for walking' level of comfy. As in 'I would wear this while being a tourist in NYC' comfy.
B) They are quirky and unique AND a different color from what I am used to.

BUT I'm not sure they are me. I could still return them (well, exchange them, they don't do refunds), so if I can't make them work for me, I don't have to keep them.

This is not the best outfit because I have issues with fall-outfits in general, and most of my cold-wardrobe is stored somewhere in my apartment, so I had to make do with the little available right now. I also quite dislike this skirt because it is too long (makes my thighs look too slim) and somehow that leather jacket, which I used to love, doesn't fit me so well anymore. I like #4 much, much better.

I found #5 in the same image folder and thought it could be useful for style references. #6 is me with my old-and-cheap knock-off of Dr Marteens (the patent pleather is not that shiny anymore, I tell you that).

For other style references, I feel my style leans towards those of fellow members Suz, Sveta or Lyn*, but feel attracted to the toughness of Rae, Janet and Aria and the cutetsiness of Nicoleb, if that helps any.

ETA: I went back to the store today and returned the boots. It was just too much work for me. I could deal with the roughness of the style but the color killed me. As beautiful as the greenish blue was, it worked with no bottoms in my wardrobe, except for my black pants (and tights). I just can't spend 100 euros in a pair of boots I can wear only with black. And I know, I know, so many people would pair that color with so many other colors, but I am not those other people, I am myself, and I know myself well enough to accept that I just can't get past too many color combos that are commonly liked by the rest of the population but not by me (like, say, black and dark brown). And I have too many shoes that were supposed to work with everything but they didn't, and they have gone unworn.

The good thing is, it seems like they are ordering the same style in black, and they are to call me when they get them so that I can go and see. SA said they have a glossy finish that will take away some of the darkness of the color (not patent though). Hopefully these will work for me in black. I'm planning on maybe getting some colored laces (like, say, teal? lol) to add just a tad of easy fun to the combo.
