Thanks. Your comments reinforced what I was thinking. I've already packaged them for returning. They are definitely loose in the thighs. I checked the company website and they are listed as trouser jeans, which wasn't what I was expecting.

Joy, DH and I liked them with certain tops but others just made my thighs look much wider than they were. I need pants with a bit more versatility and to work with what I already own at this price point.

I have trouser jeans that are similar to these except that they are straight, not flares. They are loose in the thighs as they fall straight from the hip. I usually think of flare jeans as fitted at the thigh but there must be lots of variations. The important thing is how they fit you and how you feel wearing them. How does your DH like them on you?

Tania, could you post a picture of you wearing them? I would say in this case it would be all about the fit, so it's hard to tell from the pic. I'm a fan of widelegs and flares and trousers, and I'm very happy that the trend is back. Having said this, I agree that they do look looser in the thighs than what I'd expect or want, at least for myself. Leaner thighs are more elongating. These ones are a bit on the quirky/vintagey side to my eyes.

But then again, it's all about the fit! If you're tall they may look great.

What do you think about these? I was looking for a pair of high waist flare jeans in a dark wash.

I tried them and loved them with certain tops but not with others. DH pointed out that they were looser in the thigh than he'd expect for flared jeans. Are these considered trouser jeans? If so, are they less versatile than other types of flared jeans or bootcuts? I have a pair of bootcuts on the way too for comparison.

Thanks for your patience! I never realized there were so many differences among jeans!
