Thanks for the review. This brand is new to me and these blouses look beautiful. And the price is very reasonable. I love the placket blush and think the small is pefect.

Thanks ladies. I absolutely love the contrast placket when the shirt is buttoned up; what gives me pause is that I don't have the option of unbuttoning. This thread has given me some additional clarity: if I decide to keep one, it seems like the consensus is with the smaller size.

@Elle, @Sveta: thanks for the suggestions! I'll check them both out, but I'm a bit doubtful: I have a serious hang-up about sheerness, sigh.

I love the one with the black placket but do you think you need one that you can wear unbuttoned? I found an inexpensive cream silk blouse at Joe Fresh. It needs a cami under it though. Here are pics of it 8, 9 & 10. It has a contrasting placket but only a slightly darker shade of cream.

You may want to try Club Monaco. The black silk blouse I got is completely not sheer so I suspect white one would be substantial too. They have a model with black cuffs and collar and it is on sale now.

That was a very helpful review! I have looked at their shirts and wondered although I don't need any silk shirts right now. Anyway I think the smaller size looks great on you fwiw.

@Kristin SF: wearing white underneath white is the worst-case scenario when doing a sheerness test! The sheerness is not as obvious with a nude bra. Keep in mind I have very low tolerance for sheerness; even the blush version bothers me slightly (if you squint you can see my bra and jeans), which is why I didn't post a photo of me in the white wearing only a bra.

I love the blouse in other colours, but at the moment I'm trying to fill a specific hole in the cream/nude department. Thanks for the review of their other products -- I'll keep Everlane in mind as we roll into autumn!

@kkards: thanks for the wisdom; a closet orphan is definitely what I'm trying to avoid!

1st thanks for the review. i have been reading about this company, but had not ordered anything.
i think that the fit in #2 &3 is good, but if you dont like the contrast placket, than it will probably end up orphaned.

If you dislike the contrast placket, then I think you have your answer right there, unfortunately. Don't settle!

Thank you so much for the review. I was eyeing the white but now I think I'll pass due to the sheerness factor. That is quite sheer!

I have these shirts in black and navy. Have you considered those colors?

I wasn't so thrilled with their t-shirts, they were meh. But the Ryan shirt is lovely, I bought 2. Just wish they came in more colors!

I also tried out their cashmere and their sweatshirts -- love them both, they are very nice. The sweatshirts in particular are similar to my James Perse sweatshirt, for a much more reasonable cost.

Several of the bloggers I follow have been going nuts over Everlane for its high quality-to-price ratio. It seemed a bit overhyped to me -- you need a membership to even browse their site! -- but I was on the lookout for a tailored, cream or nude, minimalist, feminine silk blouse and thought I'd give them a bash.

I ordered their "white" and their "blush" in S and M. The silk itself has all the drape (weight + flowiness) of an Equipment blouse, but the texture is slightly less brushed/fuzzy; it's still brushed silk, but it's smoother to the touch and has an ever-so-slight sheen that my Equipment signature blouse doesn't. The "white" colorway even has mother-of-pearl buttons to play off of this slight sheen; gorgeous!

Their sizing is somewhere between an Equipment Brett (their standard size) and an Equipment Signature (which is their oversized style). For reference, here's me in a Signature (S) and me in some Bretts (S and M).

As for the blouses themselves: the "white" is actually a lovely eggshell / soft white with the faintest hint of cream. Unfortunately, it was too sheer for my tastes (though I have an admittedly low tolerance for sheerness). Although I would never wear it out of my apartment in this way, I used the same white lace cami that I did for my other white silk blouse to assess its sheerness; the Everlane showed even more of the lace detail than my current one does and I decided to pass on this colour altogether.

The "blush" itself is almost a taupe: there is very little yellow at all in it. I find the color neither flattering nor unflattering, but my husband dislikes it on me. I find the contrast placket utterly beautiful when buttoned up all the way, but very very distracting when worn open; I worry that the lack of flexibility will cause me to eventually dislike it. I love the minimal, feminine vibe of the blouse (oh, how I wish they would offer the blush without a contrast placket!) but don't want to settle if it's not "the one".

So, with the mini-review said and done: should I keep either the small or medium blush blouse? As a reminder, I'm looking for classic fitting (not oversized), minimal, and feminine. Keep me honest, ladies!

#1 - Lace cami seen through the "white" blouse. Not for me.
#2 & #3 - Small "blush"
#4 & #5 - Medium "blush", worn in various stages of unbuttoning to show the distracting placket.
