Oh bummer. I know how that is, but so much better to discover that after a brief try-on rather than after a full day of wear, which is what usually happens to me! Body Glide is my friend. On to the next fab shoe!

I tried striding in the flats today. While they stayed on with no problems, the raffia rubbed, especially the heels. I think I can do better and they are going back. While they are pretty comfortable, i don't think I could walk all day in them.
Thank you all for helping me figure this out.

I really like them, Joy. The mix of materials doesn't bother me -- in fact, I like unexpected nature of the metallic with the natural fiber. I frequently have to use insoles to compensate for my low-volume feet (and the fact that one of my feet is slightly larger than the other), so I think if the insoles correct the minor fit issue, and these are comfortable and walkable, they would be a fashionable addition to your wardrobe.

I didn't have a chance to put these through their striding today but hope to tomorrow. I think that they will stay on, but it is best to know for sure.
Laura and Lisa, I see what you mean about the mix of metallic and raffia looking weird and need to think about that.
Staysfit, unless my feet are really chilled, they rarely have a problem staying in shoes, especially with Dr Scholl's arch support inserts or the plastic ones from Nordstrom's shoe department. This pair has no arch support, so I could probably use them anyway. Both brands are stiff where they need to be and keep their shape, staying put in the shoe.
Inge, Echo, and Karie, thank you for the vote of support. I'm not sure what I will do yet. I am watching another metallic summer shoe, hoping that it will come down in price.

Joy, they look large. If you can wear them comfortably then by all means keep, but it's never a deal to keep shoes that don't fit properly. I haven't found the foam pads you're tal king about very helpful. They end up sliding around even when taped in, or they need to be replaced. If they slip out at an unexpected moment you could have a problem.

I'd like them better if the perforated metallic was paired with rubber and not jute. Or if the jute was paired with suede. They seem at cross-purposes style wise.

The combination of the space-age metallic and the age of sail jute is just not working for me, so I voted nay.

They look wide across the forefront which would be a no go for my fussy feet because that would mean they would not stay on my feet. I think you need to do the quick stride test to see if they stay on your feet.

Those are good questions, AJ. I need to do a stride test. Usually flats are not a problem unless my feet get cold. I have a whole collection of inserts bought to balance out my smaller right foot with the larger left foot in shoes.

Cute!

Your heels don't slip out when you walk or the sides gap too wide with each stride? I usually find that the case with these type of shoes.

I found these perforated EF espadrilles at The Rack a while back and thought they would make a good addition to my summer footwear...cool in the heat yet not open. They are a half size up but very flat, so there is room for a cushy insert or to allow for foot swelling. It has been too cold and snowy to wear them and they can still be returned. What do you think? I'm not even sure if they qualify as espadrilles. K/R? Are they modern enough to update my outfits?
