I think that jacket looks like it was made for but I also agree that if there is any question of restricted movement, you should try a size up. I'm less crazy about the dress for the reasons you mentioned. I don't like fabric that clings--it looks fine on you but it has the potential to outline everything underneath. I have had dresses like that and I never felt comfortable in them.

You look great in both of these. I can see why your husband would like the dress. But if the fabric isn't comfortable
for you, then you'd be a sticky, uncomfortable mess, and that's no fun.

I think the fabric of the jacket would be breathable. For me, the fit issue might be too much. It's important to me to be able to pull a Julie Andrews and break into song /dance at any moment Will the restricted movement keep you from reaching for the jacket?

Gradfashionista, with "make peace with the crease," I think Angie is just referring to the fact that the jacket is linen, and linen creases with wear. It's apparent in the Find photo, which looks a little rumpled. I don't see shoulder divots on your jacket--but thanks for introducing me to a new term, and for the visual!

Which crease? The vertical ones in the middle are slit pockets.

ETA: I ordered one size up to compare. It won't arrive in time but better safe than sorry.

ETA 2: I'm guessing you're referring to the shoulder divots. After reading about them online, I'm not sure if sizing up will resolve the issue. The arm hole would be a bit wider, but so would the shoulders themselves, and they're already at the proper, if not slightly wide, width. Apparently, divots are a common problem in men's fashion, even among celebrities. Now I see what you meant by my having to be ok with the crease. Thanks for drawing my attention to this.

KILLER jacket potential. Try the next size up. You MUST be at peace with the crease, though.

I vote return the dress. The crown of the sleeves and underarms are not a great fit.

More love for the jacket. It will elevate any outfit with its style and quality and this size looks fab on you. I like the dress very much too. It is hard to find this color.

I adore the jacket. It looks great on and the fit is excellent. It is my never ending challenge with jackets -size up for layer or "right size" for looks. Maybe try the next size and see how much you lose the nice shoulder fit. I suspect it won't look as good.

The jacket is spectacular on you. The dress is less special looking to me, but it looks like a fabulous fit. And it sounds like you love the color in real life, which the photo doesn't convey all that well. It looks fairly thin and clingy, and it also looks like the type of knit that I would be worried about snagging.

Well, I love the jacket. If the jacket doesn't feel comfortable, I'd try the larger size. It looks good in this size, so the larger size might look too big.

After a very long hiatus from shopping or wardrobe planning, I took a peek at some end-of-season online sales involving severe reductions of higher end items. I rarely shop this way, and wasn't expecting any of the items to work out. Of the bulk shipment that arrived, two are potential keepers.

#1: A teal sweater dress. I generally don't wear synthetic fabrics, but I had this dress in my cart for two months because of the color. The length is perfect for my needs--read: not what you would consider optimally flattering--and I love the long column of colour. As for the dress's drawbacks, its fabric is slightly transparent because of ribbing. I'd have to mind the colour of my undergarments. I'm also unsure of how I'd feel if I put on a few pounds. The dress would certainly accommodate fluctuations without any shapewear, but it doesn't disguise lumps and bumps. Still, the colour! SO says it's a keeper.

#2: A few days before Angie's post about khaki, I had been thinking of adding khaki to my wardrobe, preferably linen, and came across this jacket. It's beautifully constructed with gorgeous detailing. The colour, as far as khaki goes, it perfectly suited to my complexion. I could see this getting a lot of wear with my denim heavy casual style. Even with the reduction, however, it's still expensive (think Smythe range). Also, the 50/50 cotton-rayon lining feels soft, but will it encourage sweating? I thought this could be the perfect jacket to bring with me on a trip next week, where temperatures will be mid- to high 30s, and very humid, but I'm not sure. That won't affect whether I decide to keep it. Finally, should I size up in the shoulder? When I raise my arms, I feel some constriction, but it doesn't feel tight when my arms are down.

The photos were horribly underexposed, so some of the detailing was lost--I'll try and retake them later if necessary.
