Yes to everything. Nothing to add that hasn't been said regarding the dress, but I wanted to say, as a V-neck girl that I love the new top on you. Good for you for being opening and trying it on. You're right than a shorter, narrower V is probably your best look.

Thank you, Angie! I am now officially in love with the dress after playing around a bit more with it. I realized when I saw it -- SUPER high quality dress at 60% off --- ONLY available in this size -- the last time I saw this was with my Nicole Miller sheath, and look how well that turned out. And this one was winter weight...with sleeves!! How often does that happen? I figured it was a sign and I had to try it. Now I have a new Dress Meister! This is is a beautifully made garment.

Now a question: should I let down the hem of that skirt just a touch? Now that the rest of the fit is a bit better, I think I might be able to stand an inch down. Would love your thoughts.

Thank you all. The quality is really superb. And I have done a little playing in the closet since then trying to style it, and thanks to your suggestions, I am 100% convinced it's a keeper and won't be an orphan. More soon!

ETA: Donnat -- I hear you on the skirt length. I love my VC midis, too, and do prefer a below the knee length in general.

I can actually let this one down a bit if desired. The overall fit elsewhere is better. As for the length, after an extensive discussion, consensus was that in this particular skirt, an AT the knee length is more flattering on me vs. a below the knee length. It has to do with proportion if I want to wear booties. And since I pretty much have to wear booties and boots in my climate, I need to hem for that reality.

Dress is a keeper. I kind of like the austerity of it alone, but it is a good canvas for shoes/ boots and jackets. I agree with Caro, a big cuff or statement necklace could be cool, but only of said jewellery was special and 'you', first.

Skirt, replacement sweater and chambray shirt are all absolute winners Suz - so fab for your wardrobe.

The fit of the dress is spectacular and I have to agree with MaryK - you are FAR TOO GORGEOUS in the dress to look old lady! I think this is a very useful dress and everyone needs to have something they can grab and put on when an unexpected event transpires. You could definitely spice it up a bit with a scarf if need be but honestly, I think the simplicity of it is positively smashing on you.

The dress is lovely, although it does skew a bit more traditional than you seem to be going these days. I like the idea of trying with a white shirt underneath, or booties or boots with an edgier jacket, leather etc. It would be a very appropriate item for winter 'serious' events and it's nice to have one of those in one's metaphorical back pocket, just in case.

I like the skirt in the regular length. My eye is starting to want to see hem lines a little lower. (thank you VC midi tube).
The tops are lovely, the chambray drapes nicely. And the wine color is gorgeous on you.

Let's see... how to phrase this delicately? Suz, with your bangin' bod, there is no way on earth that dress could ever look too conservative or corporate or old-lady! ;) That said, I'd add a scarf (maybe the Magic Scarf) or a long necklace or even a belt if I wanted to punch it up a little.

Like you, I have found the Halogen skirts are a much, much better fit in the petite sizes. I have bought two in regular sizes because they didn't have the color in petite, and both of them are largely unworn, I'm afraid.

Love the new top!

I like the petite skirt and the color of number 4 is a 15 out of 10 on you. Love it!

The dress is a classic. It seems that high quality, a great fit, a style with some longevity and a good price point is a call to see if there are ways to make it edgier or more exciting for non-funeral wear. Possible things to try include unexpected footwear, a less structured bag, scarves, a long necklace and less traditional toppers (cropped, asymmetrical, leather, etc.) The animal print shoes are punching it up a bit. I know you don't wear a lot of jewelry typically, so don't know if that will work for you. Maybe the right pair of winter boots would change it up also. Love the fit and color of it on you. Even through the screen, it reads as a special dress.

First, the Halogen skirt in petite. I decided to try it instead of shortening the regular, and it is a much better fit over all.

Pic 1: Petite skirt

Pic 2: Regular skirt

Note: they are the same colour IRL. It's just that the light is different today.

In Pic 1, I am also wearing the Halogen western chambray shirt. Still on the hunt for a replacement for that BR denim shirt. The colour of this one seems better than the last chambray shirt and the details are nice. The price was very good so I am keeping for now; it will be useful to me and drapes a bit better than the BR shirt.

In Pic 3 I have on the replacement Only Mine sweater (had to replace the one that came with a hole in the sleeve.)

Pic 4 shows a VC mixed media top. Supposedly mixed media, but actually just a light knit. I wanted to try a different neckline from my usual and felt as if this V might be narrow enough to pass muster. Also, it is a high low, knit. It's a bit more fitted than I might have wished, but again, it will be useful in my work at home capsule. Colour makes me happy.

My K/R question is about the David Meister dress. I think I got the last one of these at a huge reduction. Once again, I apologize for the light - no matter what I do I can't seem to make it bright enough so I have brightened one photo in the hopes you'll be able to make out some detail.

Fit is pretty much perfect, I think. Quality is wonderful. But....is it too conservative and corporate and old-lady?

Obviously, this would be a great dress for a funeral or any solemn sort of winter occasion. And I do not have a dress that fits that purpose -- although in a pinch I do have separates that could be put together in that way.

But can this dress be worn any other way? Could I style it to look more contemporary? How?

The price was very reasonable for the quality of the item. But if it's going to be an orphan, I could use that money another way, you know?

Would love your thoughts.
