Hmm @Jenni NZ you've given me food for thought, but in the opposite direction lol - just because my trouser jeans still fit me after a decade, doesn't mean I should still wear them (like you, I'm learning what I like - they fit fine but I've realised I subconsciously try to hike up the mid-rise with a belt whenever I wear them). Seems like a minor thing but, if it's enough to get in the way of me wearing them much, maybe it's time to retire them & make way for better jeans instead?

I think I might have to try these new pairs tucked into boots as well, to see if they can replace the jeggings. I've actually been on the hunt for a pair of slim/ straight but not skinny legged black trousers for a while, so I'm also wondering if these black jeans can work in that way. My main issue is the heat here not being conducive to jeans during May-October, but this is something I've been contemplating purchasing for years now... You're right that my storage space is limited, but I do have a holding zone going & returns for this company have been extended to 6 months, so I might revisit both jeans for an outfit lab in a bit .

And lol @smittie I love ice cream but I can't say the emoji is making me very hungry though The side buttons on both are great, even when squatting & sitting - wish more retailers made side openings on trousers!

The emoji is chocolate soft serve ice cream :-)

I like both pairs of pants and would opt for the one that is most flattering and feels the best on. I like the button detail of the ones in this thread.

Well Zaeobi I only have one pair of jeans now, a different pair wore out at the seat seam-it was cheap at the outlet store and not very good quality- and my NYDJ dug in at my waist. And I am not wearing my one pair much any more. The yin/yang thread is relevant- they are not really my style or essence. Having said that I was behind a woman in the supermarket yesterday who was wearing classic dark blue jeans and thought how nice she looked. But I am learning because then my thought was “but I wouldn’t choose to wear them out on a Sunday afternoon”. I was wearing my ubiquitous ponte pants instead.
I would probably hesitate therefore, if I were you, to buy two. Because if you don’t really wear jeans but would like to, will you wear them 60 times? ( 30 wears each pair?) Not that you have to follow # 30 wears, but I think you also don’t have much space?

@fashintern & @Jenni NZ Haha I honestly didn't even think of the 'sh!thead' connotation until you both mentioned it - I just chose the poop emoji because I wasn't in the mood for a cute one (like a flower or pet) Thanks for the laugh, though - I don't think of myself that way, don't worry

@Joy & @slimcat Yes I also feel like the black are slightly more dressy & put together. Plus they have an elasticated waistband but also belt loops, so dressing them up or down shouldn't be an issue. I'm finding with my now fading trouser jeans that washed out 'vintage' styles tend to look sloppy on me, so fingers crossed this 'stay black' fabric actually does stay black!

@Angie @Bijou @rachylou & @Jonesy You enablers! Lol in all seriousness though, trousers have always been a little difficult to shop for due to my waist/ hip ratio. So I was quite surprised with the way these fit on me - I thought the curved leg would exaggerate my own curves, but I think the subtle balloon leg actually looks more harmonious on my natural shape than trying to fight it with a really stiff & straight style (which I need to get better about not doing lol). So I actually am tempted to keep both (plus am hoping the orangey reddish brownish colour will be restocked in petite)... but I revisited this old forum post on splitting wears (duplication) that is making me pause for a moment. Do I really 'need' to keep both?: https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ood-or-bad

@unfrumped @Liesbeth Hmm I think my issue is feeling like I 'need' to have a pair of jeans for casualwear, even though neither blue nor black are my go-to neutrals (I have a small black capsule wardrobe but brown is my main neutral). An indigo dark wash seems like the most 'typically' denim like & therefore versatile. But I'm at a loss for what I would actually wear them with, since I don't often wear the two jeans I already have (a mid rather than high rise makes my trouser jeans feel a bit dated/ my jeggings only come out in winter, for tucking into boots). Would you believe me if I said I've never actually owned a pair of black jeans, lol?

@all I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't actually know how to wear jeans lol My go-to bottoms are usually a long skirt or 'soft' pants, so I don't have to deal with all the buttons & zippers & grommets & rivets (I feel exhausted just typing that out, lol). But it would be nice to have a more 'smart casual' option available that I can throw on without thinking, & that won't cause people to ask me why I'm so dressed up. Please send help, YLF forum!

I like the black a lot better. Look more streamlined?
Agree with FashIntern about the emoji!

I think these do follow your figure really nicely and better than the other style(s). Have a nice tailored look.
Not much help on color, which so depends on your wardrobe and outfits. Such as do you want to build more around black or navy- ish; do you need something tgst mote obviously says” denim” or could you use a nice- fitting black pant.

Slight preference for the first pair - looks dressier and sleeker to me.
Both jeans fit pretty well - it's more your personal preference at this point.

I like both on you, with a slight preference for the first pair because they may be easier to style and wear as being more basic.. since they are different colors, you might keep both. You are the best judge of fit and how they feel on you..

Photos #1-5 are the black pair (78% Cotton 15% Lyocell 5% Polyester 2% Elastane - made in ‘stay black’ fabric that doesn’t fade when washed)
&
Photos #6-10 are the indigo rinse (98.5% Cotton 1.5% Elastane).

Jeans shopping I generally try to avoid (I only have two pairs lol) so please be honest, to help steer me in the right direction! Do you think the fabric content of the different colourways might lead to sagging/ baggy knees over time?

I just posted updated photos to the original thread of me searching for a dark wash, relaxed style of jean:
https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....axed-jeans but looking back on those, it feels as if that Hallworthy style is a bit too 'stiff' looking for my frame (both the size 14 regular & petite). I'm therefore debating returning them both.

So here's me trying the Waterdance style instead (below): The black pair & indigo jeans (1.5% elastane) are supposed to be 14 petite. Although they still aren't quite a *balloon* leg, I feel like the side fastening & *slightly* curved pant leg make a difference in how they hang on me. Thoughts?
https://www.seasaltcornwall.co.....ance-jeans

PS - Sorry for the blurry back photos - always the most difficult angle And if you vote nay, please do leave a comment to let me know why!
