Yes @minaminu the curse of the pear shape means nothing ever fits in the waist lol, but I wanted to be certain I love them before committing to them. They still feel a bit too 'stiff' on me unfortunately to justify alterations, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to the style?

@rachylou & @star Thanks for confirming what I suspected lol - I just got another style of jean in this week, so please feel free to see if you think these are any better on me:

You may need to take them to a seamstress to take them in at the waist, if you would go a size down, you risk to loose the relaxed fit on your legs. I prefer the first pair as the lenght is good and I like this relaxed vibe on you!

Don't know if anyone is still interested lol, but I ordered the 14 regular in the same style & I think it might be too big on me overall.. am I imagining it?

I actually found another style of jean that I think fits my shape a little better (the Waterdance trousers), so I'll post that in a separate thread now. Am thinking of returning both of the Hallworthy jeans (14 petite & regular) in favour of those instead. See what you think Thanks!

Thanks for the input! I still have some time to think about it (they've extended returns to 6 months) so I'm debating ordering a 14 regular whilst holding onto the 14 petite to compare them both together. Not sure whether to take a gamble on 12 regular/ petite too...

I like your white sneakers - they balance the relaxed shape of jeans really well. I think that the current size of jeans is pretty good but the fit could benefit from taking a waist in a little bit.

Many photos incoming! I did a mini outfit lab with a pair of cream plimsolls for those of you asking me to style the jeans with 'chunkier' footwear (most of my shoes are more of the sleek/ almond toe kind, so this is unfortunately the best I could do!) I usually wear more 'classically' tailored bottoms because I'm self-conscious about accentuating my lower half as a pear shape (thanks @slim cat for confirming the pocket placement doesn't give me that dreaded nappy butt :p) , so I appreciate everyone's feedback & help!

PS - sorry for the lighting (not much bright white lighting in our corridor unfortunately)! Hopefully the front tag (attached to the waist) is like a shiny white beacon that gives you an idea of where my jeans end & where my top begins I also tucked the scarf into the jeans in the later photos to help.

@Phoebe Looking back at the photos, I think I can see what you mean about the thin cuff not matching the visual weight of the bottoms. I've tried a few different wide cuff styles in these photos - what do you think? Some are with all the contrasting lining showing, but others the wide cuff made & then folded again on itself to only show the dark material. Should I try a French cuff (tucked inwards) or not enough weight?

@Angie it does indeed stay up without the belt without any plumber's crack (a few sit tests attached) but I'm wondering whether I need to take it in a little at the waist? I generally prefer high waisted bottoms for the waist definition, so I'm not sure if I'm subconsciously hiking them up too far with the belt. Do you think the 14 petite might actually be too short in the rise for me, & that a 14 regular would work better?

@N I'm not entirely sure myself, hence asking the forum for advice! (This thread is actually a response to Angie's denim trend report, which is linked at the top). I'm not used to the 'relaxed/ oversized' look on myself since I usually need things to be neatly fitted to avoid overwhelming my height - even the shoes I'm wearing here were only bought last year because I was so apprehensive about trying the 'chunky fashion sneaker' trend that's been around forever It is indeed a little loose on the waist (pretty much every item of clothing is on my pear/ hourglass shape, so I'm debating whether to alter it) but I'm worried if I size down that it would no longer fit in the thigh/ rear (there's about 1-3 inch space there now, with a lot more leeway in the legs).

They look great! The style, the fit, so nice! I don't think a cuff is necessarily out but too small or insignificant does not work with the weight of the fabric.

Thanks all - this is uncharted territory for me, so please keep the feedback coming

Will reply to you all in detail once I've had a chance to mull your suggestions over. But I'm wondering about how wide to go with a 'wider cuff' as suggested? Would it look weird if part of the cuff is dark rinse & half of it is the contrasting lining?

In the meanwhile - if you felt inclined to vote Nay instead of Yay, please don't forget to leave a comment to let me know why. Let me know what you see that I don't, since I usually try to avoid jeans shopping Thanks again!

I like the jeans on you, don’t think the double cuff is “stumpifying”. It adds an extra ring, like an accessory, to the shape. The shape isn’t extreme, but it is fun and on-trend.

These are a *much* safer option than the balloon leg, high waisted, paperbag ankle cuffed jeans I originally said I would try - baby steps They're relaxed straight leg jeans in a fairly stiff dark wash/ indigo rinse denim (only 1% stretch) that taper slightly:

Photos #1-#3: One pressed cuff (which is how they arrived)
Photos #4-#6: Double cuffed (is the contrast hem stumpifying on me?)
Photos #7-#9: Full length, belted (rise is meant to sit 'just below natural waist') - I lightened the back view a little so you can see the pocket detail. Thoughts?

**Keep (Yay) or return (Nay)? These are a UK14 petite (I'm 5ft3.5), but not sure if I should go for regular instead to get them even higher waisted.**

(Background: I own one pair of bootcut trouser jeans (smart casual) & dark wash jeggings (for layering under winter tunics/ jumpers & knee-high boots), so I'm looking for jeans I can wear in other situations Thanks for your help! And if you vote nay, please do leave a comment to let me know why! )
