I live these. Ankle fit is a HEWI. I wish I had a bare- leggedskirt and boot style but, alas, it is but imaginary.
So-- think whether those skirt and rolled pants looks are a goal. They're fab on you if you like them.
For me, something is sometimes not my style because I've never found the right version, you know? Not because I wouldn't like it. But if I found the component that enabled the look to come together, then I'd invest more.

The fit of these is beyond perfect Tanya and although I agree these are a little different for your style, I don't see that as a bad thing. Sometimes it's fun to try something new.

My question isn't so much related to the boho style or the cognac shade, but I'm wondering if the fact that they are cut out booties will limit their wear in cooler weather? That may not be an issue for you because of your climate but if you're looking for cool weather boots then is go for closed booties.

Gigi, I have not tried the Seychelles yet. I have not even seriously began considering real fall purchases, I just happened to be at the Rack and these booties jumped at me. Have to think some more about how important the color is to me.

Marley, I know, isn't the ankle fit of these booties fantastic? I will admit that is the main attraction of these botties for me.

I like them - and agree that they are a little more "earthy" looking than what you usually wear. I do know what you mean about the fit around the skinny ankles though - I got this same style/brand in perforated black leather from the Rack last week and I too, love the way they "hug" my skinny ankles! FYI - I have a pair of the S.E. Pettys in cognac suede - and they don't feel quite right for my style - just a little too boho/earthy for me. But, I'm definitely going to wear them - its kind of a fun departure - until I find my perfect pair!

I agree with the others that styling them would be a good first step to see how you like them.

I think maybe you could ask yourself how important the "true" cognac color is. To me, these look *close* to cognac, but they don't have the richness and warmth I associate with cognac. I pinned lots of cognac booties and accessories for fall inspiration, and I realized in doing this that the color was just as important as the style. So if your heart is really drawn to the rich, warm cognac, I would keep looking and not settle.

Are you able to try the Seychelles? Or did you not like the style, only the color?

It is tough...I have them same problem with booties and boots. VERY frustrating. But I think the key is to look for booties with a lower shaft. The higher the shaft goes, I think the more the flower pot effect occurs.

Thank you for your words of wisdom ladies!
You are abolutely right, theya re a style departure, I just can not figure out if that is a good thing (trying new stuff) or a bad thing. The Seychelles would be much more what I normally go for. I really like the idea of trying them with a few outfits and making the decision after that. It would probably have to wait for the weekend, as I have a crazy busy week going on.

I like them, but agree they are a bit of a style departure. I do think they'd look great with denim. How about trying them in a few outfits and seeing how that looks? They would be terrific with your hair and I like that they sort of combine "cognac" (or similar) and taupe.

Hmm, they seem a bit more earthy than your usual. I think the color will go well with your hair though.

I know how you feel about things that actually fit skinny ankles though!

I don't have any advice on whether you should keep these or hold out for a pair more like the ones you were originally looking for, but I like these a lot. They seem like they'd be especially good with bare legs for classic DC looks-like-fall-but-feels-like-summer days. They do look cognac to me too.

They're lovely, but definitely very different from the sleek Seychelles. Would they fill the same space in your wardrobe?

What Kelly said. These are a little more swashbuckler than your sleek style but that may be a contrast you enjoy. I love the Seychelles for you!

Those look like cognac to me but they look more distressed than what I'm used to seeing from you. I really like the seychelles--very sleek too. Funny because I was going to pose a cognac question too.

A pair of cognac booties is on my "want" list for this fall ( I do not have a "need' list, as I do not really need anything). Yesterday I stumbled upon this pair at the Rack and took them home with me to decided if I should keep them or not.

They are made from perforated suede, with lighter ankle straps and cutouts. The point that sold me on them was the fit around the ankles! They fit, perfectly, and with my skinny ankles that is quite a miracle. I have tried and returned many similar booties, including JC Everly's and Tory Burch navy ones. The flower pot effect with all of them was ridiculous.

What I have originally envisioned was pair of slick simple cognac leather booties, like the Seychelles one I have attached in finds. These are obviously very different. Now I do have other booties, to account for the fact that perforated suede and cutouts would make the wear window shorter. I have also managed to find other cutout booties, though with very different cutout type (I have the JC's attached in the second Find photo, but in patterned white). Also curious if the color is close to cognac enough, or if they read more like dark tan.

ETA: I managed to find the booties online (Find #3), though in different color.
