Update--I went back to Ann Taylor and exchanged the two size M tops for size S. I think they fit me better now that I've shrunk even more (almost 20 lb since I came home). I have some old maternity tops with hidden nursing holes, but I can't bear to wear them because they make me feel pregnant. I'd rather just pull up regular shirts and use a nursing cover if I need to nurse in public.

I think I'll probably keep the BR dress even if it's not the most practical for nursing because I like the pattern...I only pumped at work for about a year with the other kids and I always take off my work clothes as soon as I get home.

Thanks for the input!
Okay, if you are going to get the Magic dress I'd return the BR dress... the Magic dress will be (and feel!) so much better. Though if you can keep both, do it.

Posting before I read the other replies so I am not swayed.

I think the dress is okay. Not super fab, not magical, but it is pretty. I vote no on it for three reasons. 1. It doesn't amke you feel fab. 2. It is not nursing friendly, so how much will you wear it. You know what a pain pumping is, especially if you have to strip to do it. 3. It doesn't make a new mom feel fab, and she deserves fabness!

I really like the 1st AT top. I never bothered with nursing tops per se, I just lifted my shirt and covered with a blanket or nursing cover when DD was small enough to allow it. By the time she was old enough to push it off, I was less worried. But then, I never nursed in public. Family and friends homes, yes, but never in public.

Second top doesn't wow me. It's just okay to my eye, and I think you deserve better than okay!

I just bought the black/white AT top myself! :) If it seems baggy on you now, try the size small - it should be a touch fitted.

Not as much of a fan of the BR dress - it doesn't seem as flattering on you as the ruched styles you often sport. Even if you are not nursing and only pumping, it seems like a pain to have to unzip, etc to pump at work. You've been through the drill before though, so you know best. :)
I liked pull-up tops best for nursing myself! Then I used a Hooter Hider (awesome term!), but mostly to hide my poochy belly so I didn't have to worry about having pants that fit/covered properly at any given point in the rapid weight loss & body changing phase. I didn't like fooling with buttons or anything complicated on top for boob access.
I love the dress and it doesn't seem like your body changed much over pregnancy other than the baby belly itself, so I think you can be fairly confident it will work even better soon enough. I agree the blue top is looking a little big already, but love the other top.
You look amazing. I vote to keep all three. The dress is so fun and fab. Both tops look good and you mention that you have very few transition tops. If you need to size down on the blue maybe try that but I think it would be a great work and casual top.

Thanks everyone! I like the black and white top better than the blue trapeeze top--when I bought it, the M seemed like the right size because of my tummy, but I think I've shrunk some more in the last week and now it looks a little too loose and wide on me, so I'm wondering if I should either try the S or just return...you guys are right that the fitted B/W top is more my style. Either one would work for nursing, as I usually pull my shirts up and use a Hooter Hider when I'm in public. They do have a couple of wrap top options, so if I have time I might try those on to see if they look better.

As for the BR dress, I totally hear you on the un-practicality of this dress (and it's not like I NEED more dresses, LOL) but I kinda am irrationally attached to it and leaning toward keeping it anyways...will mull it over some more. And yes, I bought the matchy matchy bracelet...couldn't resist! ;)
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! You look amazing too.

My favorite is the black and white top. I love it on you.(And I like that shoulder cut.)

As for the trapeze top, I could see it for work or casual. Work -- combine with a ponte pencil skirt or sleek skinny black pants. For casual days, it would be an easy top to pair with shorts or crops.

The dress has a retro 70s feel. I approve. While the the navy and green are right for Spring, the long sleeves spell A/W. A wearable dress with multi-season potential.

I don't remember if you run hot or cold. Only you can determine how often you are likely to wear that long sleeved dress while nursing, and the degree to which you will find the back zipper and breeziness a deterrent. The pattern should hide any drips! The blue top looks a little big on you IMHO; the black and white one strikes me as being more your style and is infinitely more interesting.
Natalie, I missed the big event while I was on vacation! Congratulations!!!!
You look radiant - belly or not. You should have seen my postpartum belly after the second baby: when I was lying down on my stomach it felt like I was on the pillow and I had to 'hop' on the belly several times to settle down
I love the dress on you and it should be good for when you get your normal body back.
I like the b/w top but not sure about the blue one.
You really do look amazing for someone who has just recently had a baby! Both tops and the dress look lovely. However, I'm on the fence like Harmonica because no matter how cute these are, they don't look super nursing friendly to me. You'll have to pull your shirt up entirely to nurse with either top, right? I found that after an entire day of that, I was done with my pull up shirts. And I too found that zipping down to pump was such a hassle that I didn't ever wear my dresses that technically would have worked but practically were a pain. However, however, you've done this two times before. You know the drill and you know yourself. If you can see these working, then definitely keep since they both are lovely on you.

I love them all - especially the blue top. Very feminine, great color and beautiful print. I'm on the fence with the dress, though, only because of the nursing/pumping. Keep if you find it practical, but I know I would have found it too much stress.

You look amazing only 2 weeks post partum - unbelievable!
I went shopping with my mom a few days postpartum to get some nursing bras. While we were at the mall, we stopped by Banana Republic and Ann Taylor. My shape is all in flux due to being postpartum so it is a little bit tricky to shop, but I found a dress and a couple of tops that might work and was wondering what you think of them.

1-5. I bought this Banana Republic Mad Men Peggy shift dress because I had seen it before online and really liked the print. It's a size 6 which is my usual dress size. My only reservations are that it's not nursing-friendly and it's not that flattering on my postpartum apple tummy right now (the SA gave it the thumbs down...she said "It's not my favorite on you", but the dresses she brought me instead looked worse, and my mom really liked the dress on me so I ended up getting it anyways). I anticipate that my belly will continue to shrink some more (I'm only two weeks postpartum right now), and I would mainly be wearing this dress when I go back to work, so the nursing access will be less important then (I can unzip the top to pump). I bought the dress now because I figured by the time my belly was back to baseline, it would probably be sold out by then.

At Ann Taylor I found two tops that I thought looked OK for my postpartum pooch. They're both size M (I'm usually a S for tops). The first one (6-8) is a trapeeze/peplum shape, the second one (9-12) is more fitted but the lace cutouts distract the eye from the tummy. And they're both long enough to cover the belly. A lot of my old tops are either too short or too fitted and emphasize the tummy too much, so I wanted to get a couple transition tops that looked good on me now.

What do you think--K/R? You can be honest--I won't be offended! Thanks!
