Those Sages look great on you! I was just thinking I need a nice brown boot. I am tempted to try them on, but they don't come in 5.5, bummer. At any rate, I usually need a bit more of a heel, I'm just so used to it at this point. I'm around 5'1.5" - 5'2", and feel uncomfortable in most flat shoes.

I am trying to decide if I need to get the same Treddy boot in the brown color. I do love them that much. But 3 boots in the exact same style could be pretty boring.

Anyway, good luck and report back what you think of the Treddy boot!!

Kristin- so funny - just yesterday I ordered those Born treddy boots to try on (I was seduced by the sale price)!

I love Borns- I have the born sage (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/born-sage-boot/3297651), also on sale at nordstom) in walnut and I LOVE them- they are so comfy. They aloso come in black! I am hoping the Treddys will be the same, although I am a bit intimidated by the heel height.

I'm 5'1 and the Born Sage have a 12.75 inches shaft height (almost the same as the Treddys). You can see them in some of my WIWs here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-motg-look

I really like what you ended up with - they remind me of my DV Joust booties, which are a bit RATE too, but with a higher heel.

Thanks for the update, I was curious! I too am returning the Maddie boots. While I really love the look, they were seriously too tight around the front of my foot (I have wide feet). I'm all for suffering for fashion (a bit), but this was too much for me.

I just received these boots and love them.
http://www.amazon.com/indigo-C.....B0070TWX8Q
Still trying to decide if I should exchange for a 5.5 - they are snug around the front of the foot but I do have about .75 inch extra room in the toe box (?). I am trying to decide if I want to keep the size 6's and wear thicker socks.

I am also in the hunt for tall boots, but keep getting foiled with the shaft height. I think we are of a similar height, maybe? Just for kicks - check out these boots, currently on sale at Nordstrom -- I bought the snare and LOVE them. These will work even at the park! Love them so much, I ordered the boots in black (but not at the sale price, unfortunately).
http://tinyurl.com/aboq45t

Still looking for the perfect pair of black dress boots. Let me know if you find some good options!

Apologies for the slow reply - I've been traveling for work and am finally settled back in .

I wanted to give an update since everyone was so helpful and a few people had questions.

The verdict: Returned, and replaced with these: http://www.zappos.com/seychell.....ck?zlfid=2

The heel height was similar, but the Seychelles were MUCH more stable for "kid-carrying"; the itty-bitty tip of the heel on the Sam Edelman's was just not stable enough. And I think they were a bit too small - after wearing indoors half of the day they were uncomfortable. It's too bad, since I like the look of the sam edelmans a smidge better for style, but fit and feel were just not up to par!

The look of the Seychelles are a bit less refined, but since I live an uber-casual lifestyle that's OK for me.

Deb: I also tried on these: http://www.amazon.com/Enzo-Ang.....lini+boots They were less taupey and more of a golden-tan and therefore closer to skin tone, but they did not fit close enough to the ankle for me (I like a close fit). They were comfy though.

I like them! No, they aren't nude, but they are close enough to still give a long leg line and still look like you're not barefoot. Hope the kid carrying works out!

I have been on the search for nude booties also, Those look a little too taupe for me and the heel it too high. They are very cute though. If you find any others will you please post them? I spoke with a SA at Nordies the other day and he told me that they are due for a large shipment of many more boots prior to Black Friday.

Kristin- I'll let you know about the kid carrying after my daughter wakes up :)

One downside- they are a bit slippery inside which does make a socked foot slide forward a bit- I might need to add a foot petal or something like that to avoid slippage.

Most importantly - they are way cheaper on Amazon! $75 there vs. $120 on Zappos

ACK those are in my Zappos cart right NOW! I am glad to hear they are comfy! These booties get great reviews on Zappos.

I think they look fantastic on you. They make your calves look small, in my opinion. I've been having a hard time with "nude" - but these look neutral and so I think that's close enough.

I, too, was concerned about the heel - would have preferred a thicker one - how does it feel to walk in them, esp carrying your kids?

This is a sign that I should pull the trigger on my Zappos cart!

I've been in the hunt for a pair of nude booties for use with dresses/skirts and just received these via amazon (Sam Edelman Maddie) http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....00_s00_i00
What I like: close fit to the ankle
Pretty comfy
Moderate heel height
Not so sure about:
Not really "nude for me"
Heel is pretty small ( not thick/ stacked) making it not as good for MOTG use

Opinions?
Also, please forgive the grainy pics and mess - I'm trying out the iPhone app for the first time!
