Thanks, guys. Suz, the jacket is shorter and more fitted on the model on the website but she's 5'10 and I'm 5'2. One of the positive customers reviews was from a woman who said she's 5'2, 110 lbs, which is smaller than me, and who said she returned a size S for a XS and was pleased, so I never expected the XS to feel too big on me. Which makes me suspicious I just don't know how a bomber jacket is supposed to fit and feel. If you guys don't think it looks too obviously puffy through the trunk, I will probably keep it. It's a nice jacket and feels high quality.

I do have a couple black jersey summer skirts, one maxi and one midi (high/low) that would probably work with the floral twist front top! Thanks for the idea. I'll have to try them and see.

It is tough to judge the items alas, because of the photo angles. Is the bomber supposed to be a slightly oversize style? If so, the fit looks good -- it's all a question of whether you like it oversized or whether you were actually wanting a more cropped version. I like the idea of navy (well, I would, ha!) and it would also look good with the camo pants.

The style of the twist front tops seems like it could be useful with higher waist pants. It sounds as if you're concerned they might not be versatile enough, though. Do you have other higher waisted items or skirts? I wouldn't keep if the price is too high and you're not fully sold on them. As far as looks go, they look good! But you have to feel comfortable wearing them...

I like the black top a lot with the camo pants. You don't look middle aged at all and even if a tiny bit of midriff shows occasionally that will be fine!
I don't like the printed top with those pants as the combination looks pouffy, they both puff out somehow.
I like the bomber. I only bought my first one ever March 2016 and it is quite loose , have now worn it 26 times, love it! Wear it mostly open but sometimes closed if a bit cold. I bought another bomber in August but that one not such a success- a bit dressier with gold on the front and the sleeves are tight which I didn't realise when I bought it. Sales goggles.

So. I ordered this bomber jacket from Everlane. I've never owned a bomber jacket before--I've never been attracted to them all the other times they've been on trend in my lifetime, but this one seemed like it might be useful as a spring jacket when it's too chilly for my J Crew utility jacket but I want something a step dressier than my black NF fleece-ish hoodie. The bomber is navy, btw, though I'm sure it photographs as black. Maybe I'm just unused to how a bomber is supposed to fit, because this feels like there's a lot of room around my rib cage, even though this is an xsmall. Is it just that it's too long for me? I think it looks better open, but how useful is an outdoor jacket I have to wear open? (Bonus new Madewell sunglasses in pic taken on rainy day, just because.)

Then I ordered two linen/cotton twist front tops from Anthro, one patterned to try to wear with the super wide legged cropped pants from Uniqlo I keep trying to style, and one black to hopefully wear with the Anthro camo cargos. I like the twist front, but as reviewers on the Anthro site warned, these are *very* short shirts. I think the patterned shirt works okay with the Uniqlo pants, but I'm still not sold on the pants themselves (I dunno what I was thinking when I bough them last summer--I think they had super flattering dressing room mirrors or something ) and I dunno what else I'd wear that top with. And it wasn't cheap. I like the black top better, because I'm boring. And I like it with the pants. But because the top is so cropped and the camo pants are not that high waisted, when I move the wrong way, an 1/4 inch of belly is exposed. I mean, I don't mind and that's not an outfit I'm going to wear in formal situations, LOL, but is it totally over the top if a middle aged woman exposes 1/4 inch of belly and people are gonna roll their eyes behind my back?

I am really on the fence with all three garments, so guide me, please. Sorry for the potato-quality photos. I'm sure they don't help.
