I really like the black SEs for your shadow style, and would choose a silver sandal in an entirely different style. A fitting shoe bed is important with Birkies, so you may never get a proper fit with that brand and will have plenty of company that way.

Thanks guys! I think you guys are right, I have the wrong feet for the Birks--low volume, long toes including longer 2nd toe. As much as I like the idea of it, I think I'll probably have to sit out that trend. I'm going to try the Munro Birk alternative, and I've ordered a silver pair of the Berkeleys--I'll have to compare to see which one matches my wardrobe more. I do duplicate shoes and boots in different colors when I like them, so I may just keep both if I really like them. I do think it's inconvienient to do the buckles instead of the zip like the Ginger, but I just don't like the look for the Ginger, so that's going back. I've ordered the flip flops to try as well, but that will remain a beach/pool shoe if I keep it.

I think I'm in the minority here but I love the softness of the silver in 1 and 2 against your skin. I don't like the SE Gingers as much, and agree with you that there's just a bit too much going on there with the straps, and the balls and the zip.

I like the black gladiators better for you. I am not sure Birks would resonate with your style for very long and they might orphan for you. Yes, they are trendy. FWIW, I love the Birk footbed and have their insoles in several of my flat shoes/boots etc (like Converse) but the actual sandals don't quite work for me due to the long second toe issue and low volume feet.

I like the black with the studs. I would prefer metallic without studs, but that's a personal preference thing as I'm moving less ALGO.

I'm not a birk person (they don't fit my feet, and I don't love the look), so I'll defer to others on that.

I prefer the black in the studded sandal. Have you bought shoes in two colors of the same style in the past and been happy with them? I tend not to duplicate colors. Metallics seem to continue being plentiful (as is black of course) so I think you could find a different style in silver or pewter.

I've not gotten on board with the Birks but I do prefer those styles in a metallic as they don't look as clunky as the darker shades. The last one is very casual. For you, I see it more as a beach shoe rather than working with your style for everyday.

I love the Sam Edelman gladiators, in both colours! They look great on you.

I don't think Birks are a great option for your narrow, low volume feet. But what do I know? My feet are not low volume and they are awful for me! So your mileage may vary....

I admit I have a poison eye. My husband (low volume feet) persists in wearing them and even in narrow sizes they are rather wide for him -- he has tripped many times, as Joy describes.

I like both the SE gladiators and think you should get both. About wearing Birks around the house, do you have stairs? I find them a problem when I want to run up and down stairs, especially carrying anything, because of tripping. But that is probably due to low volume feet.

One of the things I hate about winter is all the effort it takes to get ready to go outside. Therefore, in summer, I like to feel like I can just slide into my shoes and go, so I have a fondness for sneaker mules and flip-flops. I like the look of gladiator shoes but hate having to stop and mess with the buckles.

Regarding the Ginger sandals, I like the quicker back zip compared to the two little buckles on the Berkeley.

In your feet photo, I like the look of the black sandals marginally better but if you already have one pair of black studded shoes, and silver goes with a lot of your looks (my default jewelry is gold, so I have to do a full shift every time I wear silver shoes), then I would go with the silver. That pinky tone it seems to have is quite nice.

I am not sure what kind of feet yours are. I have narrow, bony, flat feet. I tried on Gizehs early in the year in a size 39, my usual euro size, and they were too short, too wide, and the straps were too wide. Also the arch really hurt my foot.

The other flip-flops look comfy, but a little blah.

I have those silver Birks and find they go with so many of my casual summer outfits. That said, they are chunky and add volume to the foot. And they are flat. I have short wide high volume feet which are perfect for Birks.

I love the studded sandals for you in silver!

Love the black here. Fun sandals!

I actually think you can rock Birks. I have always preffered the Birk Gizehs. But I think the Arizona's are more on trend. So it completely depends on how you feel about it. I usually go for comfort when it comes to shoe choices.

I am not really liking the Olukai, but I know how one could be tempted with the comfort factor. To me they are beach slippers. The Munro Aries on the other hand look more dressy and I can see that working well as well. But if it's between Arizonas, Gizehs and Aries - I choose Gizehs purely because I like how they look, even though they might not be as trendy as the Arizonas.

I love the Berkeley sandals! I don't think the silver looks gaudy at all. In fact, I prefer it to the black. I think it has an interesting sheen to it, kind of a pinkish cast.

I don't know anything about Birks, so I will bow out of that discussion. But I will say that I think the flip-flop you posted looks pretty casual. I would reserve it for beach use.

I am looking for some flat/comfy sandals for summer and am thinking either black, silver (or both). I only have one pair of nude flat sandals but the back strap keeps falling off when I walk. I really like these Sam Edelman Berkeley studded gladiator sandals, but really can't decide between silver and black. They didn't have the silver in my size so I took home the black, but may order the silver as well (or instead). Initially I was thinking I liked the silver better, but the SA said she didn't like how it looked and preferred the black. She thought the silver was too shiny/gaudy compared to the black. I am not sure if I agree though. I do have Sam Edelman Ollies which are very similar black studded closed toed pump and I really like how they look, so the black would be a fun casual option. Which do you like better (don't mind the pants, I know they go better with the black)? I wouldn't mind duplicating both colors if you like them both. I think these will go well with my style. She convinced me to get the silver Sam Edelman Ginger sandals because they were on sale and she liked them better than the Berkeley, but I think I may return--for some reason I'm just not crazy about the pile of BB's on my feet.

I'd also like some slippers, but can't decide if I want to jump on the Birkenstock bandwagon (either Arizonas or Gizehs--and not sure if the lighter metallic silver or darker titanium is better). I tried them on but I have a long 2nd toe and my toes seem to touch the raised edge of the footbed, so I am not sure how comfortable it will be to wear them. Also not sure how well they will integrate into my style. I did find a Birk alternative that seemed to be comfy (Munro Aries), but they didn't have my size so I'd have to order it. There's also a comfy flip flop option (Olukai), but is it too casual to wear outside of the beach/pool?

Thanks for your advice! So many options--I am so confused about what I should get!
