I've never posted pics of my Aquatalias because I only wear them on very dressed down days when the weather is foul. I don't wear them as often as I used to because I now have a pair of tall rain boots as well.. These days I tend to wear skinnies tucked into boots in bad weather, and my Aquatalias are short booties that don't tuck well, so they got worn with bootcut jeans. They are dark green and brown suede with a zip up the front. Pretty cute for foul-weather boots! The only bad thing is that the zipper unzips over the course of the day -- I have considered having my cobbler take a look to see if there is some sort of fastener that could be added to keep the zipper closed.

@Rae, thanks for the ankle reassurance and bearing with the lack of ankle boot photos. All my full length photos were so dark you wouldn't even have been able to see the boots. Visually they look the same with pants/leggings as the Fidji boots, so I'm happy with the look but was worried about quality.

@Angie, you are *always* helpful. Given your good experiences with your Miz Mooz boots, I'll go ahead and keep mine as well.

@Janet, it helps to know that your boots crease too. I do have one pair which is so fitted/stiff that they barely crease at all, and I'm ok with the creasing in casual boots. I'd love to see photos of your Aquatalias - have you posted them on the forum?

Aquatalia boots wear like iron, from my experience. I have a pair from about five years ago for bad weather, and they look like new.

I hope that ankle creasing isn't a problem, because I have it to an even greater degree with my new Weitzman OTK boots. I just figure it comes with the territory -- nothing is going to fit like a second skin over the ankles, so some bunching is going to occur no matter what. I'll be curious to see what others think, but I think yours look fine.

The Aquatalia's look KILLER in the photos, Sylvie. Impeccable workmanship. Wow!

I love the Miz Mooz booties too (sorry that the Fidjis did not work out). My Miz Mooz boots are going into their third year and still look fabulous. I can also vouch for the Fryes as I have those too.

I don't know whether I have helped.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience to comment on the quality of these brands, but #1 looks good to me. I wouldn't worry too much about the ankles; if there was not some room in the ankle, then you would not be able to walk properly. Plus they look great on your calf, which seems the most important for leg flattery purposes. I really like the unique buckle on the Miz Mooz. I have a harder time judging ankle boots without a body shot, however. Also, will you be wearing them with skinnies/tights as shown here, or under straight legs/bootcuts? I apologize if I'm picture-needy; I guess I don't have tons of imagination and prefer to see the "physical evidence."

My wardrobe needs black flat 8 hour boots in both tall and ankle heights. Here are the best options I've found so far:

1) Tall: Aquatalia Umphs.

I like that these are flat, sophisticated looking and fit my calves. I am concerned about:

Will the elasticated back wear out or look dated in a few years?
Is the ankle creasing too bad?

Alternative: Fluevog boots that are similar to my green Bondgirls.

http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w.....iew=detail
http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w.....ourID=3308

The fluevogs have great soles and thick leather that I know will last me for at least 5 years. However, they are are probably too rugged/casual, right?

2) Ankle: Miz Mooz Bailey boots.
In the right hand photo, I'm wearing the Fidji boot on my left foot for comparison, which I LOVE but has been vetoed for comfort reasons.

I like that these are flat and comfortable. I am concerned about:

Will the thin leather wear out faster than my other thicker leather/more substantial boots?
How is the durability of Miz Mooz shoes in general?

If I won't get at least 3 years worth of wear (so let's say 365 days) out of them with appropriate resoling, it's not worth it to me. I would then prefer to go with Fluevogs/Fryes for durability, even though the style may not be as good.

http://www.zappos.com/frye-car.....ge-leather
http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w.....ourID=3235

Thanks in advance! Alternative suggestions gratefully accepted.
