I like it, too, and I'm all for modern classic. What about adding some red flats or kitten heels, if you have them. Or, some pop of color on your feet or with a clutch?

Sorry I am so late in returning to answer your question. Too much pull for me is when I move my arms and the shirt is on the move too. Sometime pull happens even when the shirt fits.

How about you wear a cotton cami or tank under the shirt (the way men do) and see if the pulling stops. The cotton (and it should be cotton or mostly cotton -- other materials won't do much for the slipping) provides some friction and keeps the shirt in place so that you can reach bend comb your hair etc. and not have to worry about providing a peep show ;-)

A cotton underpinning works for usually because sometimes the smoothness of the bra material provides way too much slip. You could try this before doing tailoring because you may not need to tailor if the cotton keeps the shirt in place.

Let me know if that works

Oh, one more thing -- I don't know if you're already wearing petite sizes in your shirts but it seems like your arm length issues would be solved too if you tried out petites. All of my button downs are petites.

Pretty blouse! Sometimes I place a little circle of velcro right at the apex of my bustline, particularly if the blouse is generous in size, but the button placement is a bit off. If the blouse is large enough that you don't have to fully unbuttom it, you can place a couple of stitches in the same location.

This would look terrific layered under a bright jacket, too!

I like the blouse on you Adelfa...blouses are always so difficult for me to love due to the button placement/pulling/gaping issue.

If there is not a button directly at the fullest part of the breast, there is gaping. If there is not enough room at the fullest part, you get pulling...sigh

Thanks, all. I have been living with gapping for so long that it had gotten to seem normal. I have reordered one size up. Silk shirts are fairly new for me and it's possible that the extra material won't seem boxy or bulky, the way it would in cotton say. I'll show you the new one and keep the current one and then we can decide if sizing up is better or if I should try the snap technique!

Thanks again!

I love the look and think you can style it in many ways. I noticed the pulling, too, but I am like you and prefer for the fit not to get boxy. I like putting a little snap in between the offending buttons.

Looks lovely! Hmm, if it is pulling at the bust, sometimes sizing up adds too much fabric in the arms, shoulders and other areas. I usually safety pin it on the inside seam. Probably not the best solution, but...

I am very glad DV brought this up! I tend to put up with a bit of pulling so that the overall fit is not too boxy. But I'm willing to consider tailoring an option!

On me, I've noticed that shirts that may be fine when I stand will pull when I sit down. Also, the fit may depend on which bra I'm wearing at the moment.

This shirt looks good the way you've styled it. It sits well on the shoulder but pulls a little across your bust. I would suggest moving the buttons across a 1/4", see how that looks.

DV, do you have standards for pulling? This one doesn't pull if it's set right on my shoulders and I'm not bringing my elbows back. Unfortunately shirts tend to crawl down my back and then they pull. Or if I make any exaggerated movements, it's going to pull. The line you can see in the photo is a wrinkle from shipping.

How do you judge if a shirt is big enough across the bust?
