I'm in the minority and no surprise, but I really like the pants A LOT on you, exactly as is. Though if it can flatter even more when shorter, go for it!

The tux looks just right to me, and even the gingham shirt I think can look intentional with rolled-up sleeves and worn with the top few buttons open over a T-shirt or cami, belted... if that's not too casual a look for you.

It's the cardi that looks a bit large. Can you size down? And is the back neckline right up against your nape? (Can it be pulled back a bit so the front isn't dropping along the center seam like now? It's doing a slight smiley thing with the stripes...) It's SUCH a gorgeous colour on you, especially with the pink pants (as shown by the T-shirt photo in your side view too), I'd really like to find a way or find another piece in that colour...

As for your shopping outfit, it's SO smart to go shopping looking that fabulous, as a reminder of you in top form! I'm going to have to keep this in mind ---> Start out looking good and you can be pickier, *and* not get depressed about what doesn't work, because each time you look in the mirror you know you can and do look smashing!

Inspired by Jonesy's fabulously helpful inspiration Here are the pants and an old favorite Anthro shirt and my only pair of ankle shoes (at the moment)

The left leg is folded under to shorten about an inch.

Sweater and shirt going back.
Zap I used safety pins for years and now use fashion tape for gaping, but am still self conscious about having to do so.

Christianne I'm with you - BB is one of my least favorite stores EVER.

I really like the fit of these coloured pants on you - take Angie's advice and have them shortened and I think they will be perfect! I think the gingham shirt is a bit big - could you size down? Absolutely LOVE the white tuxedo jacket - beautiful! All in all, a fine shopping trip!

Love the color of the pant and the jacket. If you can exchange the sweater for a size down, it is a great color with the pants.
How lucky for you that Best Buy is next to the Rack - that would have me happily agreeing to a BB trip (can't stand that store) anytime.

The tuxedo jacket is a definite keeper imo. I agree that the pink pants are currently at a confusing length. They're not short enough to look intentional. I vote keep if you can have them shortened or do it yourself : )

...And my secret for gaping... ( cover your eyes Angie) ... safety pin between the buttons that pull... I save the pins that come with some clothing tags, as they are so tiny and I put one between the two buttons in the bust area. The pin stays put discreetly because I put it on the inside. Do you see how the fabric at the button holes is doubled up? I grab only the inner layer, not the outer one, so the pin does not show at all.

I have concluded that no idea as to how cropped pants are supposed to fit. I'm not even going to add confusion with #1-#4.

The linen tunic is fitting weird, it short on you yet big...

I like the blazer and I do have the same problem with sleeve length. Sometimes buying tall is not the solution because the arm opening and overall length is longer too. I just have long limbs LOL. My work around is to roll up the sleeves to mask the issue, when there is no fabric to let out. It's a casual jacket so is OK to do so, I think.

The orange cardi is too big and thin. That type of cardi is so hard to get right as the fabric is so thin.

I love the shopping outfit and yes, Esprit is closing in the US. They are no longer profitable here. (

I like the pants! These fit you so beautifully--score! I guess my eye is fine with all sorts of lengths, especially when they are tailored and slightly tapered like these. I agree with Angie that they could look fab a bit shorter and even more tapered, but I like them as is, especially with the footwear you have paired them with. Agree about the button down being too big; I love the white jacket and I think the cardigan is cute. Just my two cents :).

ETA: I'm attaching some pics from a spring trends slideshow from fabsugar.com, featuring lots of cropped pants in varying lengths. I think there is only one conclusion: You need some ankle strap sandals or edgy loafer-style shoes, stat :)! (I hid #8 because it's an accidental repeat of #5.)

What great finds!
I really like the pants as is, but I'd be curious to see them pinned shorter for comparison.
Would you be willing to be our guinea pig and show us?

The color of the orange sweater is terrific on you, but otherwise it's not exciting.

I like the checked shirt under the jacket. Not so much by itself, but it seems like it would be a good layering piece.

The white jacket looks great, and I can't believe you got it for $13! Color me jealous! I think you'll be surprised how much you'll wear it. I consider a white tux jacket to be one of my indispensable summer items.

Thank you all. I am considering shortening the pants - where should they taper more? How short would be right? Am I going for crop or ankle? Oh the torture of PPL and the lack of available full length pants.

The white jacket does scrunch nicely so I think keep. I agree the gingham top is too big, I am constantly drawn to too big tops to avoid button gaping and apple belly clinging.

Your shopping outfit looks great! So fresh and happy - just like you, Jeanne.

The top fit of the crops are great. The length and the lack of tapering from the side gives me pause. They would look great shortened :)

The linen shirt looks a little big in the wrong voluminous way.

The cardigan seems to be a little large in front too - is it creeping up? Love you in pink and orange, though.

I would keep the pants. I personally like the length. I have a pair from j. Crew in this length and I think it cheeky. I'm sure others won't agree so it depends on what YOU like!

The shirt on its own look a little frumpy. I wish it were a touch longer and bigger so it didn't just look big but look intentional. It's not bad under the jacket. Depends on how fab you feel in it whether to keep...from your comments I'm going to guess its prob a return...

I think the white jacket is very sweet ( cute w the pants!). Keep on that too.

I liked the pants. I pinned a pic of a woman in a pair of cobalt pants with a white shirt and black jacket yesterday and thought of it when I saw your hot pink pants and white jacket.

SO, I am a dissenter and like the pants. They look a touch roomy in the lower hip but I actually like that in a pant because they don't create as bad a crumple zone. I thik they would work really well with the white jacket and a heel or sandal.

Love your shopping outfit - argyle!. The pants are such a great color but I don't think they do you justice. They are definitely the leg-shortening suicide type pants that Angie refers to, and really hard to wear.

So DH wanted some time at BestBuy and it happens to be next to the Rack. What's a girl to do but browse?
Please help decide if these are Keep or Return (K/R)
1-3 The elusive search for colorful tapered pants continues. These are Vince Camuto hot pink and not as severly tapered as the blue ones were. These are just sort of styled . #1 top is what I had on for shopping - #7, 2 shows tucked for fit (would likely never tuck with these), 3 is side view for Angie. K/R?

4 Caslon frey Gingham shirt - light linen feeling, maybe a little big? $10 and breezy for summer. Ignore the price and return?

5. Necessary Objects (fully lined) Tuxedo jacket ($13) I've been wanting one, but not willing to pay for a good one since it's not really something I'll wear often. This is a M which I never wear. I think it's meant to be oversized and it's not on me (since I'm a L at best) Does it look too small?
6. Caslon striped cardi in my favorite pink and orange combination.

7. What I wore for shopping. Esprit sweater (tears they are no longer going to be selling in US just when I found them), Calvin Klein blouse, Gap always skinny grey pants, Dr Scholls blue suede booties.

Thanks for your help.
