I agree with the others about the fit and the work-appropriateness, but darn it's cute on you. As someone who would totally have worn this in my younger years, I say keep an eye out for another piece like this!

I really like this skirt, and I really like the fit of it on you Still... I can't quite wrap my head around this at any job, unless you work in the fine or visual arts.

Too bad about the size.

But I look forward to more of your posts as you navigate this style shift. "Good-quality classics with a funky twist" is going to make for some fabulous WIWs and interesting K/Rs!

It sounds like you've got it sorted, and I wouldn't recommend the slit skirt for work. But, a leather skirt in that great color, well-fitted and with just the walking vent or slit--and a younger person could carry off a bit shorter length than I, and especially with tights but not limited to that--that would be a fab fall item. Not as unusual as the slit skirt, sure, but great texture.

They're out of the next size up, unfortunately, so back it goes! Thanks!

Oh, cute - I love the diagonal zipper. Definitely agree with trying a size up. I would wear it at work with tights, or potentially without if I stood all day instead of sitting. But my work environment is extremely casual.

Fun skirt. I'd love to see a size up. I wouldn't personally feel comfortable at work in this...but maybe with tights for other settings.

I do recommend that you try a size up; it seems to be pulling across the middle. Even with a larger size, I personally would not feel comfortable wearing such a revealing slit in any work setting.

In the midst of finals, a colleague of mine who incorporates a lot of clothing and accessories from around the world into her outfits, remarked about the need not routinize our routines. At our drab institution, it's very much a challenge, because nobody cares--the most fashionable are the hipsters.

I'm still re-evaluating my wardrobe and style goals, but over the last little while, I seem to be gravitating toward neutral palettes for clothes. I need clothing that fits into a university context, but I don't want business casual; more good-quality classics with a funky twist.

On that note, I decided to venture slightly outside my comfort zone and am wondering what your thoughts are about this skirt. Keep, return, size up? To risqué with the zipper and slit?
