I have had a pair like that for a while now and they are just about done in their life cycle for me. But they have been really fun. JCrew has a similar pair that I just got (on sale) and which are more refined (not a ragged hem) but still cropped and light wash. Maybe these might be worth considering? They have a lot of leather for your urban itch, but they are a little more refined for your classic side. I have these at home, and I'm on the fence because my feet slip forward in them. I'm going to ask my shoe repair if there's a fix (pads or texture at the ball of my foot?), but chances are they are going back. There is no way to hem them. When I wear them, my ankle shows, but it's definitely not like the more mid calf look from the website. I kept them even though I would like them about an inch shorter. But I agree w/Staysfit: how badly will the colour transfer and for how long? Probably not a good choice if you might ruin any light coloured trousers. The pants seem to fit you really well and look good, but IMO they need to be hemmed a couple of inches and with this design detail I'm not sure how that would look. Also, of the rest of your clothes are refined so why were you attracted to these items? Are you going through a style shift? If you want, it would be fun to mix refined items with these, I think it would give you a funky look. Otherwise, if it's not what you want I would return. I'm not the best at pants hems, but I think they need to be a bit shorter. Also, I think they look good on you, especially with the darker top.
